  • 'E Hō Mai'
    Written by Edith Kanaka’ole
    Lyrics:
    E Hō Mai
Ka ‘ike mai luna mai ē
    I nā mea huna no'eau
    O nā mele ē
E hō mai, e hō mai, e hō mai ē
    Translation:
    Grant us
    knowledge from above,
    All the wisdom
    of the songs.
    Grant,
    Bestow,
    Grant us these things."
Inspired by an ancient Hawaiian chant written by Edith Kanaka'ole, Noelani Love has brought this cultural tradition back to life with an acoustic ukulele melody that calls in the guidance of our ancestors above. This powerful song is meant to activate the healing power within and all around each of us and soothe the soul. Sing along, and feel the power of your own sacred resonance. Allow the sound healing experience of your own voice to become your medicine.

Amazing mele, Noe. Your U'i self combined with your mele has me fall into some trance, man 🥰
I had to bring out my bass to play along. The brain simplicity about your song was what drew my ear.

I found your voice on Spotify and OMG it took me all day to find you here again I had to based on memory because I did not have a chance to know this song I was away from my computer and then I heard it chime in as I was bopping about and I started to sing along and wow just wow it moved me and I was like what was i even saying and then I made typed out the sound here in RUclips and I found it again and I am so thankful bc I do not have the singing practiced talent that you have naturally or otherwise but I am so thankful for you because you have made this world better just by sharing your voice. Know that it is out there reaching the masses. I had no idea this was from Hawaii and I miss Hawaii so much I visit as much as I can bc it truly is a magical place. Thank you for being you and being so bold and brave to share your gifts in these tough days. You are a beautiful soul and I am sure we will meet in the other worlds sometime soon. xoxo from Alicia.

I agree wholeheartedly. This oli should have not been been made into a lullaby. I don’t care if you claim to be native Hawaiian also. If this is so, the kuleana and the stakes are higher in protecting the integrity of this oli. And you wear an ala niho on your right thigh. The weight of this kuleana is even heavier! As a kanaka ʻōiwi, it’s disgusting to see a native Hawaiian appropriate the culture in this fashion. Shame on you and your entire bloodline.

Same was said about Mark Keali’i Ho’omalu’s kahiko hula and oli when he was bringing something new and at that time, forbidden, to Merrie Monarch. Traditionalist, gatekeeping arguments like the one you’ve voiced has been around in all different cultures forever. She is no less Hawaiian because another Hawaiian disagrees. No shame needed here.

Delete! What the heck? Do some research first before you just turn a chant into some lullabye. Disgusting

    • @NoelaniLove
      @NoelaniLove  6 лет назад +14

Starlight05 Thanks for your comment, and I appreciate that people understand how important this chant is. I actually received the blessing from the Edith Kanakaole foundation (Edith wrote the chant, but has since passed), after I specially wrote to them requesting permission to create a song with this melody. As a native Hawaiian, I feel honored and privileged to be able to share this mele at this time. Blessings and Aloha~Noelani

I am pretty sure that Edith (who has passed, like you said), would not agree. Why would you ask to do even do such a thing? Mahaʻoi....Too many mahaʻoi people.
