Don't judge Baltimore before you go there, it's actually a really nice city. There isn't too much to do downtown apart from going to football and baseball games as well as the inner harbor, but if you go to places like Hampden or Towson you'll find there is a lot to do.
Indeed it is the Christmas song's melody, but it is used in several other songs, too. But the flag reminds me of a mix of the Austrian-Hungary flag and the flag of Swabia =)

@visor109 You are quite right. Maryland and Iowa do both have the same anthem. And it's not even American music. The song "Christmas Tree" originates in Germany where it is called "Tannenbaum. " In Russia, it is known as "The Red Flag" though it is not an anthem there.

The red and white are the colors of Lord Baltimore, the yellow and black are those of Lord Calvert.

Maryland is has and always will be the municipal state. I gladly bow down to this great state which I call the state of states. I actually would rather pledge alleigence to the MD flag than the US falg and would rather defend maryland before the rest of the united states. To thy mother state I kneel, Maryland my Maryland.

Yes, it is. Pennsylvania couldn't come up with something this good because they're unfortunate enough to be above the Mason-Dixon Line. Ha! That's just me, though. I've been to Baltimore and don't have any problem with it. Maryland isn't a very big state, but it's beautiful and has a song and flag to match. My family has a decent amount of history with Maryland and Virginia.

This is the same Anthem as Iowa. It comes from Germany and the original title is "Tannenbaum"

It's not the biggest state or the most well known, but damnit, it's home. ;)
I like how unique our state flag is. Most states have identical blue flags with a picture in the middle. None of that nonsense in MY home, ohhh no.

I had a lot of ancestors in western Maryland, all of whom fought for the North and were proud of their service... really a silly song.
Haha, not as long as this is our state song. Not as long as we have the secessionist/Confederate Crossland Banner in our flag. Not as long as we have all the Confederate monuments that we do in our state, and finally not as long as our history is not revised. 300+ years of being a Southern state/colony compared to 40 or so of being a "northern state". Yeaaah...urban Maryland is just a northern wannabe, lol!! BmorePatriot do you even have a family history here?
BTW no offense to Delaware people reading this but how fucking dare Delaware people insult Maryland calling it a backwards state?
