I was disappointed at MC Lyte saying it had nothing to do with the members, & she's always talking about women rights and how women in hip hop matter, she got some nerve..that had me pissed..I saw a clip of Rem talking about how Dee deserved that shit, and Eazy & Yella were consigning...so it did have everything to do with them once they started putting their ignorant comments in the situation. And Cube just sitting there smh. Gary, Should've gotten his ass whooped along time ago too he was involved in it.

Correct! I hate when sistas cosign the BS! Tupac, Dre's non blk wife and Cube's wife had nothing to do with the success of NWA either but they were all in the film and their wives came AFTER the fame! Michel'le was a major part of nwa and where was she in the movie? She was the princess of NWA!
The Dee Barnes incident was a major part of NWA and it was left out bc it wouldve shined bad light on Dre and nwa and they wanted them to look like urban heros!

Shame on F Gray the director. he is the reason Dee BArnes got beat on from Dr. Dre. F Gray edited the ice cube interview and created the beef. Same on all of them I was young and remember when it was on the news. Mostly we were shock.

I wouldn't say he was "the reason". Dr Dre was just a piece of shit! F Gray had no idea that would happen and no intention of that to happen. He was just trying to make good interesting television. That shit happening was ALL Dre's fault and responsibility. Period

F Gary Gray.... Dude.... You were the one who yrs ago edited the Ice Cube interview with Dee Barnes dissing NWA so of course you weren't going to add it to the movie's storyline. I love you MC Lyte but to try and dismiss Dre'a assault against Dee Barnes by saying that was an isolated incident that didn't involve the members of NWA..... Blank Stare. Cube and NWA were beefing so of course the assault had something to do with them. Yes the movie was supposed to bring awareness to the targeting of black males in Compton, and the story of NWA but to totally omit certain ppl like Michel'e, and even Dee Barnes was for the benefit of making Dre and the others look good. Shucks... If you are going to tell a story.... Tell the WHOLE freaken story! Ppl are able to receive the whole truth and respect you more if you tell the truth up front. You got ppl who are just now finding out about Dre's abusive behavior. Now folks want to crucify him. But it's never been a secret about his past. But money can buy some folks out of a lot of stick situations. I don't even think Dre has served any jail time for his assaults which is why Michel'e's story needed to be told.... As well as Dee Barnes. Why should their story remain untold? Straight Outta Compton's story was told how F Gary Gray, Dre, and Cube wanted it to be told. The didn't omit the beef between Eazy E and Dre or Cube, or Cube's beef with NWA.... But the assault of Dee and the multiple abusive attacks of Dre couldn't make the cut huh? F Gary Gray your answer regarding there was sooooo much to edit was complete BS. Like you said, you put out the movie you wanted to put out. Now there will be multiple sides of the story coming out against Dre and the crew bc the 1st movie decided to only tell half truths. Tell the truth upfront.... Michel'e wouldn't have had to release Surviving Compton had at least part of her story and presence would of been shown in Straight Outta Compton. The movie didn't even show Dre & Michel'e's relationship. Why? Bc of the domestic abuse. But Cube and his wife's relationship was sprinkled in there... Why? Bc Cube isn't known for abusing women. I saw a recent interview with Dee Barnes and she said that none of them (NWA) ever offered an apology to her or even checked on her after all of these yrs. Easy E is the only one who gets a pass bc of course he is dead.

Actually it has nothing to do with NWA and straight outta Compton....Cube was with NWA during the movie and when he left the most important things were Dre and death Row, Cube and No Vaseline. Dee Barnes didn't do anything to deserve to be a part of this movie. Michel'le...maybe but she didn't even make it so why the hell would the fake opportunist be a part of the movie...She got paid just under 1 million dollars...Dre went to jail and was on house arrest for months and had to do thousand of hours of community service...He's 50, he's apologized and it happened probably before you were born...I'm tired of weak people....like you

You must have a weak woman in your life and that's why you let those comments out your mouth. You don't have a strong black woman telling you that you should stfu sometimes. Abuse is not okay any race. He was wrong he drug himself down beat women. That black man drug himself now and very soon the world be reminded of the person he is.

      @vinessawess4401 8 лет назад +7

i love mc lyte but what the hell does she mean that the dee barnes incident didnt have nothing to do with cube, easy and nwa, YES it did!
cube and dre were beefing at the time.....and dre got mad at cube over something that CUBE said on Dee's TV show, so
instead of confronting & addressing cube like a man, dre turned his anger towards dee and accused her of the bullshit that ice cube said on her show which the editing had nothing to do with her. The DIRECTOR OF THIS "STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON" MOVIE WAS THE ACTUAL PERSON WHO REEDITED DEE'S TV SHOW!
So Gary F Grey's hands are dirty too!
then a week later after Dre beat Dee Barnes ( almost to death) Easy E, Ren and Yella went on tv saying she deserved to get beat and abused by dre, then threatened her on national tv, and they never got in trouble or reprimanded for that!
Well , Yella didnt say anything, it was mostly mc ren and eazy who instigated it.
so mc lyte was wrong, the dee barnes incident has and had everything to do with cube, easy, dre, ren, yella and all of nwa!
Tupac didnt have nothing to do with NWA but yet, he was in the movie so they can miss me with that!

I’m not sure if it was face to face, but she making a book and possible movie about this. She was black balled from the industry by Dre. Supposedly she is homeless so I believe she is making money off of this. The abuse was in court and a settlement was given to her not sure how much, but since she says she is homeless that money is probably gone.

if anyone wants the real answer, it's this... dre put up alot of his own money to make this movie. you think he's gonna put that much money up just to make himself look like a monster? this movie is going to last a long time, in 20 years people will still be watching it, so he's not gonna put something like that in the movie obviously, every year reminding people of one of his ugliest moments. why does it even need to be in the movie? it's in plenty of documentaries and news articles, so it's not like it's a secret or anything. it's just something he's not proud of obviously.

It was an NWA-related issue in that the group was notorious for their misogyny towards women and the incident with Dee Barnes involved all the members in some way. Dee interviewed Cube which set Dre off and led to him attacking her. Then Eazy-E and MC Ren both said in interviews that "the bitch deserved it and I hope it happens again" and were laughing about it.

Dee Barnes actually received a financial settlement regarding the incident in question. In most cases the parties involved in a settlement are not allowed to publicly discuss the issue once the agreement is finalized. It is highly unlikely that a litigated incident would appear in a fictionalized film, and this is a fictionalized film based on true facts not a non-fiction 100% factually accurate documentary. If this film was a flop, would you still feel the need to take down Dr Dre for a incident that he had already compensated the victim for? Also, you imply that only White critics like this movie, that in and of itself would not account for the success of the movie. You seem to be suggesting that if White people like this film then Blacks shouldn't go see it. The fact of the matter is that this is really a good film, one of the best released this year.
