- This week it's time to whip the house into shape for all the things ahead. On top of new rugs, furniture and decor, I'll share some insights on what is to come this summer for the living room and the massive project looming above it. Let's move some mirrors, patch some holes, and use enough vintage books to fill a library!

Oh who am I kidding. It is FREEZING COLD in Alabama, so I'm gonna watch you vacuum gratefully, and wrestle with that damn duvet cover some more. Because I adore you!! William 💜
Lol, thank you William
I’m so proud of your choice to get a chesterfield! You must have been brought up right and have your priorities straight. 14 years ago I bought a RH brown leather chesterfield and wept like a baby as I told myself I would never want for another sofa in all my life. I’m proud to say that I’ve stayed true to myself!
I love that! It's truly a beaut, I love it!
Watching your video's are so enjoyable and relaxing. Smiling during the entire video, and can't wait for the next 😊
Thank you! I just finished editing for tomorrow, hahaha.
Nothing is more elegant than a Chesterfield sofa. It raises the level of any room in which it is placed.
I agree!
Stunning! 🤩
Thank you!
Inspired design.
Thank you!
Changing the duvet cover should be an Olympic sport 😂😂😂 a whole discipline 😅
I was in a FULL sweat by the end. That's why I switch to a quilt by March, lol, the duvet is too much work!
Peppermint pinwheels - save them for next year and make a tree garland. Hot glue the packs end to end. Works a charm.
Great idea!!
I enjoy watching you 💚 keep it up 🟤🟤📚🪴
Thank you!
The bracket idea for plaster lath walls is epic.
It helps so much!!
"That's what she said"--lmbo Sean--you really are charming! Is he a "charming annoyance", Denny? Loved that line, Sean, and as I've told your mom, I truly love your use of words--you are a true wordsmith. And your decorating ain't so bad 😉. But I could never have you over because I don't have a table behind my couch, lol! Keep up the creativity and fun! ❤
HA! Neither do my parents, maybe I'm just a one-off!
It is beautiful 😍
Thank you very much!!
I think it's in. Thats what she said. loolollll.
Hahahahaha
@@restoring_sean your words, not mine but the quip was light and kicky. Much appreciated!!
And the look after "lets drill some studs"
Yay, new video! ❤❤❤
Of course!
I've been using books too in my decors, in daily displays and occasional holidays like Halloween. And since most of them are contemporary ones, I used what we called here Manila Paper. Not quite kraft paper, it's thinner but can it's do job hiding 'not so attractive' spines. Books are timeless in many ways than one.
I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me but it's really a framed 'Homo Sweet Homo.' That's cute.
I just love your ghost portraits. They're so adorable. 👻
Your living room are so cozy Sean! ❤❤❤
Thank you! That little needlepoint 'Home Sweet Homo' was a housewarming gift at my first house, I love it hahaha.
@@restoring_sean It's eye-catching! 🤩
Great video. So much work. You need an Andrew to help more often!
Hahaha, thanks!
I love that you like color on your walls and it really makes a home feel warm and cozy. Your styling feels like everything is in its place and always has been. And just in case you needed another idea for covering books, try scrapbooking paper that looks and feels like old leather and vintage book stickers for the spines of the books. You really did a nice job! 👍
Thank you! And that's a fantastic idea, because some of these I'm probably never going to unwrap, lol. That would definitely step it up!
@@restoring_sean Or seasonal wrapping paper.
It has a lovely, relaxing look.
Thank you!
You are so cute, great video!👍
Thank you!
looking great
Thank you!
I love watching what you are doing with your house. I do think i would enjoy being there working with you 😊
Thank you!
Just finished your video. Awesome job. Love that you pulled more of the brown to the green. Question about the windows, what about tint? More privacy and it’ll cut down on the heat. All of windows are tinted. Loved the spring/summer reset
Thank you! That's a great idea, and I think if the heat issue keeps occurring once I've replace those suckers, I'll look into it. I will say, so far by adding those drapes it has warmed the kitchen up (temperature wise) because of those drafty windows. Even with the plastic on them!
@@restoring_sean You’re welcome. I forgot that you said you’re going to replace those windows. I’d just stick with the drapes until you do. Just a suggestion 😉
Hey guy... I live in Green Bay and love the way you decorate. I look forward to seeing more of your house and yard this spring.
Well thank you, neighbor! Not far at all! I can't wait to get back outside, this cold is just silly.
OK COOL 😀🥰LOVE DAVID
.
You make it look so effortless!! Love your style!
Thank you! I helpfully edit out the 20-minutes-at-a-time of me standing motionless and just staring, hahaha.
I see inspector Clouseau came down the stairs, wondering where he’s gonna nap looks good❤
Lol gotta check out the digs! Thank you!
Sean! Again, this is just stunning! Very well done.
Thank you!
I was excited when you shared the amount of old books you have because I have normal Coffee Table books and I also have normal sized books that I too have covered but no Antique books. However, I just watched you place books, white vessels, faux plants, white candles and glass cloche on repeat for every surface you have. You definitely need to hit up some flea markets or thrift stores or even Antique stores according to the budget you want to spend and pick up a few select unique items to work into each space. I always say brass or antique silver candle sticks with taper (flameless) candles have much more character than pillar candles. Then mix in and odd, old or different item that shows your personality and gives each space it’s own identity.
Yep! That's why I called it out toward the end of the video, this helped me to see where I need to add additional items to set the spaces apart!
You are so funny “I don’t know anything about anything” 😂 So untrue! You clearly have an eye for style and beauty.
Lol, it is something my mom and I are constantly saying to eachother, "I don't know nothin' about nothin'". Thank you!
❣❣❣❣Absolutely love it. Books definitely are great to use. I am in love with all the bee items you have and that little honeycomb corner thing. Also, the large leaf tie backs are gorgeous. I look forward to seeing what is coming next. You have such a cozy, inviting home.
Thank you! The bees are my favorite, I'll talk about it more later but during all of the construction work during those first few months, the basement was just littered with bumblebees. We'd catch them and get them outside, but it was just the strangest thing!
Just beautiful! The table your father built is perfect. And the sneak peek of your kitchen makes me wanting to see more.
Thank you! One week to go!
Love the cat never moves!,,
Hahaha!
I LOVE YOU SEAN YOUR HOME LOOKS GREAT YAY LOVE DAVID😀🥰😀🥰🥰
Thanks David!
I am just you. I don't mind the holes in my wall. Just like you i fill them and paint. Love your cosy style of decoration, colours and furniture 👍☺️
Well thank you kindly! I appreciate that
Love it!!
Thank you!
I'm a new subscriber. And will definitely looking forward for more videos. Thanks, for sharing your designs at the end of the video.
Thank you! And welcome!!
I also decorate with books. I collect random cookbooks in different colors and switch them out for the seasons in my kitchen. I like how you turn some of them around to show the pages side instead of the spine.
Thank you! I think it helps to just add a little variety, especially in the areas where you can see the books from both sides, y'know? How many cookbooks would you say you have?
❤
Love your videos ❤
Thank you!!
Love the decor. But as the daughter to a mother who loves decorative knickknacks around the house, dusting must be a nightmare especially with cats. Looks great tho!
Dusting is TOTALLY a nightmare!
Knew there's be a Jurassic Park tee soon enough 🦖
Lol I can't resist.
So three things for ya:
1- wonderful that that’s what she said joke while hanging the mirror 😂
2- if you go antiquing, take me with you! I love going to antique shops but rarely go cause I don’t wanna go by myself 😢
3- leftover peppermint discs… I put one in my hot chocolate and it is the perfect addition ❤
1. Who doesn't love a 'that's what she said' joke, lol
2. I'm down!!
3. Solid idea!
My husband hates when I rearrange things. I have to use extreme caution.
Haaaahahaha, I hear about that a lot! Luckily for me it's just the cats and they don't seem to mind.
@ well, we just adopted three kittens last month and we had to do a lot of rearranging and proofing the house so that was an exception for me rearranging things lol
You crush the peppermint in summer & make peppermint ice cream.
That's a great idea!
Omg the monitor - why didn't you put it on the floor before you moved the desk?
LOL because I am a glutton for punishment. The whole time I was moving the damn thing I kept thinking "just take this down, knock it off."
Okay-seasonal bedding, yea or nay? I have sheets and bedding for each season. Why? Because my mother did. And as I have been told, I am nothing if not my mother’s child. 😂
Lol I have seasonal bedding as well. It's a thing! Keep things fresh and fun!
LOL. Random Q-tip fact…
Lol
Thanks for not having beige everything.
LMAO oh trust me, you are most welcome, hahaha.
YOUR WELCOME SEAN OH SEAN I WISH YOU CAN BE MY BOYFRIEND YES OR NO BUT OK 😀🥰😀🥰 LOVE DAVID
Thumper says if you can't say something nice don't say nothing at all (which technically is a double negative) so I'll say I'm delighted I waited on the edge of my seat for a week to watch you rearrange rugs and vacuum 😑
Hahaha, I'd like to say I did a couple more things than that.
