    Thank you so much for your very detailed video! It helped me so much and answered all my questions. I absolutely love madiera hems and now I'm excited to make some on some Bishop dress I'm going to make for my granddaughters. I had no trouble at all hearing the video. I watched it on my desktop computer. Thanks again.🙂

    Another very informative video. Threading the ribbon through the bias neckband was new to me. Loved it. Thank you..

    Thank you for all the good information you provided us. I have a doubt and please excuse my ignorance. Why do you stitch two pieces of fabric together to them separate them or is it just to have the exact measurements on all borders that you create? Additionally, I'd like to know if you'll be willing to teach us this technique for making a Madeira border around a baby blanket? Thanks

    Your videos are so informative and helpful! What fabrics are best for madiera hem and pinstitching?

    • @kathyssewingstudio
      @kathyssewingstudio  Год назад

      Thank you! Ideally using natural fabrics work best - cotton lawn, Swiss batiste, handkerchief linen, etc. However, for the gowns in these videos, I've used a poly/cotton batiste. With enough starch, stabilization behind the stitching and the correct needle, you can get beautiful results with a poly/cotton fabric as well. Stick to lightweight fabrics and you'll do fine!

    Kathy, your knowledge is so amazing. Thank you. I too had difficulty understanding hearing. I turned my volume up to max. I watch via Airplay on my t.v. Screen and I think your mic isn’t positioned correctly as you sound muffled. I too have had to tweet my mic on my zoom connections, this way of teaching is certainly a learning curve.

    Scaled up, this would make a gorgeous nightgown for an adult. Like me! If you want to make an experimental nightgown that will fit me, I don't mind.............^_^

    Hello Kathy! Good morning. Beautiful work. Thanks for sharing.
    I would like to try to do it but my sewing machine don't have this stitch 5 times back and forth, over and back. It only has the single Pinstich or Blanket Stitch as it is called. I tried to make it, but it doesn't work, it doesn't look pretty.
    Could you please tell me which model of Pfaff sewing machine you use in your video tutorial ???
    So I could see if I can find one.
    Best Regards David

      Not every machine has this stitch. I will only buy machines that do have it. I've owned a Pfaff 1475, 2054, 2056 & 720 - all of which have the correct stitch. I will warn you that the Pfaff passport claims to have a pinstitch, but it is only a blanket stitch. the machine in the video is my 2056.

      Hello Kathy! Yes, I know, it's been a while since I've been looking for a sewing machine that has this stitch. But all the ones I found in the city where I live only have blanket stitch.
      Some time ago I asked another person from another RUclips channel which sewing machine she uses to do this type of work, but unfortunately she didn't give me even correct information about the machine she uses, it seems that she hides the machine that it in the tutorial so that no one sees it. And she doesn't even respond to comments. I am very grateful for her help.
      Thank you very much for suggesting some types of models.
      Now I know where to start looking.I found this model, pfaff 2048 quilt expression, I'm not sure if it has this stitch. I'm trying to get more information. If you know of any information on this machine, please let me know.
      Have a great weekend.👍👍👍
      Regards David

    I'm making 2 Bishop dresses for my granddaughters, size 2 and size 4. Because of the bottom width, I have to have side seams. I really want to add a madiera hem. Is it better to sew the side seams first and then add the madiera hem or do the madiera hem and then sew the side seams?

    I am going to try this hem technique. I want to use a very soft link for it but the only pink I have found in Imperial batiste is very pink...a little too pink for a baby. Can I use the pink on the wrong side of the white skirt to delete the color and finish it on the right side...white side?

    • @kathyssewingstudio
      @kathyssewingstudio  2 года назад +1

      Yes, if you use the colored fabric on the wrong side of the fabric it will soften the color. This would be shadow appliqué Madeira hem.

    I don't know if I missed it, but, what is the size of your boarder? My gown looks so tiny compared to yours. Thank you so much for your video's

    • @kathyssewingstudio
      @kathyssewingstudio  3 года назад

      This is a 3 - 4 lb. size and the contrast border was cut to 5" and then you will have your seam allowance at the bottom and the highest peak of the band is about 4" with the remaining band being less than that. I didn't give specific dimensions because that would likely be different based on the size gown that is being made.

    LOVE this new video Kathy, but the volume is so low that I can barely hear you speaking even though I have the volume on my phone turned all the way up. :-( Is there any way for you to raise the volume/get closer to the speaker on your end so you can be heard better? This isn't the only video of yours with this problem. TY, TY, TY!!!

    • @kathyssewingstudio
      @kathyssewingstudio  3 года назад +1

      I'm sorry you are having trouble with the volume. I have checked with numerous others regarding the volume and nobody else is having difficulty hearing. Maybe you could try watching the video on a tablet or computer. I know that RUclips has a volume control that needs to be on as well as phone/tablet/computer volume.

    Informative video but I struggled to hear what you were saying, pity as I found it irritating not being able to hear everything you said.
