Dont get the haters, yes the original was bloody brilliant, this version is as good in a million different ways, Kelly Barnes vocals are off the bloody scale, what a voice. I would have loved to have been at Rewind to see this.

The problem is not the vocals as such - it is the insufferable, arousing vocal demonstrations, literally cannibalising a gorgeous classic to ghastly bits. Needless to say, the euro-dance arrangement and Glenn's "come ons" only add insult to injury. For someone pioneering electronics early on, this level of update is downright disappointing on all levels. And with those early couple of albums of theirs, they really were such a cool band. Now, Heaven 17 have a tendency to do constant updates of their classic songs, most especially "Temptation" and in most instances the update never surpassed the gorgeous original but here they just lost the plot completely, killing off their biggest hit. And it's not about "hating" - they have every right to do it "in a million different ways"... but there is nothing wrong with playing "Temptation" close to its studio original thus keeping the very essence of that song intact. It would still hold an element of surprise live and please the audience, without self-proving this dreadful and pompous. In its original form, "Temptation" remains a timeless classic and a cool hit for all the right reasons; Carol Kenyon's vocal presence in the original adds tons of grace to it, in the end stealing the show turning a Heaven 17 classic into her very own. That's the beauty of it. Here, there is no such thing, there is no song to start with - it all sounds like a fucking headache, the backing singers just wouldn't let it breathe. The only thing that is "golden" here is the example of how to ruin something that never needed a mend in the first place.
Wow... What a performance. This was incredible. I wish I had been there, it must have been electric. Feeling it across almost 6 years. The song is genius but this would have been one of the best live performances I have ever seen. But I wasnt there omg.

Only just come across this on my recommended list! I can remember the original from '83, classic. This live version uses the Brothers In Rhythm remix as it's base, that came out in '92. Kelly Barns does the vocal justice. Wow! Reminds me of Becky Hill, another UK vocalist whom has that range.
