I love the car. The only 3 things I would change would be. 1. I wish they would have sticked with the gear shifter found on the hyundai ioniq 2020 electric models, the button style gear shifter so cool and unique 😎. The shifter by the steering wheel is boring. 🥱 2. I wish they would have stayed with the harmon kardon sound system. It is 100 times better than the bose sound system. And 3. Man they need to give us like 500 miles on a full charge if they really want to revolutionize the industry and make EVs the car to buy. Because I can get a toyota corolla and get 350 miles on a full tank…and fill up in like 5mins…They have to make it a no brainer to buy an EV OVER AN ICE. I dont see why it cant be done already but you know they have to milk us for a couple years first for profit.
I finally understood why this car makes me so happy. It reminds me of the first time I fell in love with a car. I can't explain it, but it reminds me of "Knight Rider" tv show
I think I'm gonna make an Ioniq5 my first new car. I've always been a fan of the idea of driving an EV for a daily and the more I hear about this the more I believe it's probably my best choice
Not that it matters, but I thought you guys were boyfriends. So first video I've ever seen of you. Congratulations, good jobbing. Keep doing what you'd love
I'm confused I saw a review of the 2024 SEL and that one said the seats weren't the synthetic leather and didn't have a pull down cup holder in the back or the rear vents. Which version is this?
I guess you didn't see the report on the battery that had replaced in the Ionic $56,000 dollars, basically the battery it's self is worth more than the new car, does that make sense?
You forgot to say they do Not charge very good or fast on level two charging. They will not charge for very long at 40 or 48 amps @ 240 volt. You have to lower the amps to 24 or 32 amps. This is a HUGE mistake with Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis brands with the 800 volt system.
that's not true of everyone. that's a defect effecting a few people. my ioniq charges at 48 amps for the entire charge period at 240v. it really sucks for them and they are owed a genuine repair but it's definitely not how the car behaves normally.
I've said it before and I'll say it once more: Hyundai is really on a dual-mission to really elevate their brand even further. Pulling off products like the widely well-received Palisade is one thing. But playing to a high level in virtually all categories is another. The N/N-Line vehicles are some of the best in their respective classes. The new Sante Fe looks to be a fun small-midsize CUV. The Tucson is getting refreshed, as is the Sonata and Elantra. And this Ioniq 5 really adds excitement to the EV class. Seemingly more exciting than Teslas(with better build quality), they're really making some serious waves.
Many people complain that having to use the screen to choose seat heat or ventilation and steering wheel heat is "weird". I never use the screen - I use voice commands for these settings, which work quite well. Voice command works well for many other functions as well and I use it often.
That's been fixed in the new "real" 2024 model. You will get dedicated buttons for seat heat and ventilation. Also a lot of other new stuff like a rear shield wiper. The brothers did review the old 2023 version in this video. The title is missleading.
My favorite thing about this car is that there is a perfect place to put my handbag below the center console! No other car I've driven has addressed this issue. Makes a huge difference for me!
The earth is burning so we invented a battery car. That car for some reason needs to have lightsorama, bellsofstmarys, and whistlesintoinfanightum. No it doesn't. How much cheaper would evs be if they had the same or less "features" as a car did in 1980? The cars would still work, but unfortunately it wouldn't wink at you every morning. It wouldn't annoy you will endless demands and suggestions. And you could use the endless pairs of gloves you get every christmas that get chucked in the back of your sock drawer to keep your hands warm for that 15 minute commute. Think about it. You get narrow tires, so much less milegae, and no spare tire. You don't need any of that crap because you have an $1000 iphone with all that on it. We won't need to plan every pee stop along the way on our thanksgiving journey back home. We won't need a sun roof, 20 cameras, 20 speakers, and 4800 lcd bulbs that do nothing to improve the driving ability of the person next to you on the interstate. The repair on your damaged car will break the bank because of all the loose bits. The bulbs will be from CHINA. the wire for INDIA. The tires from Brazil and the glass from Iceland. There will still be wars and rumors of wars. Parts will always be back ordered or stuck in a cargo ship in some boatyard waiting for the endless strikes to be over. And the worst part is the poor will only buy used gas guzzliers because they cant' afford battery cars.
06:56 - I just bought a 2024 SEL IONIQ 5 this weekend, and it most definitely has cloth seats. In addition to the seats, the 2024 SEL also no longer has the following that the 2023 SEL had: - Rear vents for passengers - Ambient RGB interior lighting - Power folding mirrors - Armrest with cupholders for the backseat - One less seatback pocket - Door panels are hard plastic (no more soft touch material) Hyundai seems to want to push buyers to the Limited trim by basically nerfing the SEL trim.
Hyundai and Kia are leading with their designs, but not with their pricing. This looks like a $30kish car- but it's actually over $50k....That's BMW/ Mercedes/ Tesla territory.
Keep away from Hyundai and Kia because you will get into trouble sooner or later !The service is bad .There is video on RUclips which follows a guy’s trouble with the Ionic through a year with hid problems getting tha car fixed !
I own a 2022 Limited Ioniq 5 and can confirm that they have changed absolutely nothing over the last two years . I would HIGHLY recommend a used 2022 for $8-$10k less than new.
LMAO at this videos headline…the I5 is “futuristic” and “luxurious”??? Not a chance. First off, say what we all know to be true - the I5 looks like an updated VW fastback. Can you say Hyundai copied an old VW design. Secondly, not even close to being luxurious….but in all fairness, for the price, I don’t expect it to be. So stop lying or exaggerating.
Given some of the RUclips videos documenting main battery damage in collisions, and extremely high costs to purchase and install a replacement, what is the battery warranty? You didn't cover that when discussion the Ionic 5's warranty.
It's hard to justify the I5 N over the Limited, unless you're actually going to track it and, lets be honest, most buyers won't be tracking their EV. The $10k price delta is huge and the Limited is still a very quick car, not to mention you can get nice discounts on these on top off 0% financing.
I almost bought one of these until a management employee of Hyundai USA warned me against it. The detailed list of reasons is too long to post here, but it came down to 2 main reasons. 1. Quality control during the car's build is very poor. Oh sure, the vehicles they hand out to reviewers have been carefully groomed and detailed, but the one the customer gets will not be. 2. After sale maintenance, repairs, and replacement parts. If you are considering buying one, first go to the dealers parts department and ask how much a replacement main battery cost's. Hint, it's almost the price of a new vehicle. Second, read the warranty before you buy. Yes the main battery has a warranty, but there are so many exceptions (like road debris damage that's excluded and is also not covered buy most insurance). I also heard of warranty repairs taking months because of back ordered parts. One case locally was of a guy who owned his car less than 30 days before he had to tow it to the dealership because it was bricked in his driveway. After waiting 6 months for replacement parts he finally got a new car, but only after he hired an attorney and threatened legal action under the states lemon law. He sold the new car a day after he received it for a $20 grand loss. Just be aware that these glowing reviews rarely reflect a true owners experience.
I drive a hyundai ioniq 2020 electric limited Edition. The sound system in my ioniq is FAR GREATER than the BOSE system found in these new limited models smh it’s a shame considering how spacious and comfy the ioniq 5 is. How can hyundai drop the ball like this..????? It would have been the cherry on top. PLEASE HYUNDAI GIVE US THE HARMON KARDON SOUND SYSTEM IN THE IONIQS AGAIN‼️🤦🏽♂️
🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 01:18 🚗 The 2024 Hyundai IONIQ 5 comes with a 77.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, offering a range of 266 miles, up by 10 miles from the previous year's model. 02:00 🌌 The IONIQ 5's design is a unique blend of futuristic and retro elements, with LED lighting and a distinctive parametric pixel design in the headlights. 04:22 🏎️ The IONIQ 5 has 20-inch alloy wheels, which add to its futuristic appearance but might be challenging to clean due to their intricate design. 10:11 📱 The interior features a 12.3-inch infotainment display, leatherette seats, and a panoramic sunroof. It offers spacious rear seating with 39.4 inches of legroom and 38.7 inches of headroom. 20:19 🚘 The IONIQ 5 boasts an impressively comfortable and luxurious ride, with soft suspension tuning and a solid feel. The sound level is very quiet, making for a premium driving experience. 22:11 🚗 The Hyundai IONIQ 5 is considered a luxury EV, comparable to models like the Cadillac Lyric. 23:38 🔋 The IONIQ 5 has different range options: 220 miles for the standard range RWD model, 303 miles for the larger battery RWD model, and 266 miles for the dual-motor AWD model. 24:46 ⚡ Real-world range test data for the IONIQ 5 shows a consumption rate of 3.2 miles per kilowatt-hour, simulating daily driving conditions. 25:28 🏀 The IONIQ 5 offers impressive interior space and practicality with a flat floor and sliding console. 26:08 🎯 The fully loaded Hyundai IONIQ 5 Limited AWD model costs around $58,000 and doesn't currently qualify for federal tax rebates, unlike some competitors like the Tesla Model Y and Mustang Mach-E. Made with HARPA AI
So to change the temperature, just hit the up or down arrows, but to get to the settings for the seat heating or cooling, hit the "Warmer" spot (it's not a button, that's why I say "spot"), and then adjust on the screen above? Sure seems like Hyundai should simply add a "seat temperature control" button.
Yet another review of a high spec Ioniq 5 which bears little resemblance to the lower spec entry models, setting up many buyers to be disappointed. In fact according to another reviewer all the lower spec models for 2024 are to have a significant amount of items removed with only top spec (and top priced) cars retaining them.
I really liked your review. I've had my Ioniq 5 for about a year and a half and I love it. It is our 3rd Hyundai (1988 Excel - first new car, 2019 Santa Fe, 2022 Ioniq 5, and a 2022 Venue). Hyundai puts out a great product. I am totally happy with my Ioniq 5, and my wife loves her Venue. Even though we are more of a Jeep and truck family, Hyundai will always have a special place in our hearts.
Twist up to go Forward, and Twist back to go Backward. Intuitive and the way it should be. Unlike the Tesla where pulling Forward is reverse which cause Angela Chao to back up into the lake and drown.
Great video Drew and Mason. Good job Hyundai. But, 2024 GLS’s have hit dealers. Mercedes has released fully loaded specced out ones to dealers. Please contact your local dealer, so we can see a review on it, thanks!
Nice one!!! One question - what they did to correct the error with the Type2 charging? This has been a serious problem with many vehicles (including Kia EV6) - mine included :(
I was behind one of these today and I was thinking how great it looked so I came here. Unfortunately, the majority of EV look like shit on the inside, this is no exception. I don’t understand why this is the case for most EV’s
Hello! I am from Kazakhstan 🇰🇿 The Ionic 5 (option ECO) is officially available in Kazakhstan since Aug. 20, 2023 with retail price worth U$63K. However, Chinese ZEEKR 001 (Z-Sport option) with same retail price is the closest competitor that technically surpasses the Ioniq 5. It will be interesting to observe the competitive wars between two brands on the Kazakh market. Paradox: Chinese EVs run the Kazakh market of EV. Zeekr, Avatr, Lixiang, Hi-Phi.
I’m looking for a lease deal because I need to replace two cars. The ioniq5 has some banger lease deals, at least locally. I’m slightly concerned about winter time and all that but, it’s a deal.
Great job men explaining 2024 ioniq 5. Living in fl. and owning a. 2023 ioniq 5, the weather and salt pose a problem with the lithium batteries and their suseptibility to thermal runaway from salt water and exposing your vehicle batteries to puddles and standing salt water generated in hurricane weather. patterns in fl. Their is very little mentioned about this critical situation from manufactures, car dealers and advocates of car reviews. We have had in FL. Numerous thermal runways of electric vehicles from people not realizing if their lithium battery is compromised by salt corrosion you loose the car and possable your home if car is parked in garage of home.
Hyundai has significantly de-contented the SEL model. No folding mirrors, no rear seat vents, no leather, no rear cupholders, only one storage behind the seats.
I think you guys did a great review of the Ionic 5, but you really downplayed the reclining rear seats. On long trips with 2 or three passengers, having the comfort of being able to substantially recline their seat in the back can make those trips much nicer.
It’s great when you can’t exit the car and need to get out from passanger seat. If driving from UK to EU it’s great makes it easy to slide to passanger side and pay. Bag or gym kit can go there so it’s quick and easy. And you can just not move it at all if it bothers so much 😅
It's a nice car, I'm getting mine in a few weeks. I got the base model SE RWD which is already a nice set of options. I wish the center console was extende all the way to the front, so there could be more volume to store stuff. I'm excited to have my first full EV.
I really wanted to not like this car but I took a test drive today and it blew me away. Put a deposit down and it arrives in 6 weeks. 😅 great review! The detail you guys provide is impeccable 👍
I thought that the Standard comes with HDA2 and limited comes with HDA3. If they went backwards in tech from the 2022 model then that would be sad on their part.
Same mate, I placed an order for mine and have nooooo idea why it’s 1.5 and there’s no explanation on why that’s the case. But Hyundai website is basic, as the 2024 version doesn’t even mention digital mirror, WiFi hotspot of improved security for passangers at the back. And all videos are Canada or US and don’t have the same trims. Got myself the Ultimate RWD
With electric cars coming out we have this new breed of not-car-guys doing reviews & not really even knowing what they’re talking about Front fascia - front end/front bar/grill etc Dual indicator lights - hazards ‘Lower area’ - rear bar I could go on 😒
U guys did a fantastic job with review very disappointed in the fact that I don’t have android auto or Apple CarPlay !! I think for the price they should add more features, I like the current one’s & space
Amazing that 2 things everyone is asking for….rear wiper and wireless CarPlay and android auto are still not available for 2024 model. Really unacceptable.
Good review. Hyundai is currently recalling some vehicles to check the ICCC and fuse, and there are some issues with at home charging and thermal management shutting down the charging. This EV offers so much more than a dour Model Y inside, but the 3 beats it in range and quickness.
O saw a video of a guy who bought this vehicle, did minor damage to the cover plate that protects the batter pack, the dealership told him batter needs to be replaced at a cost of almost $60,000, more than the cost of the car. His insurance did not cover the cost of the battery. Bier beware. Unbelievable
I have some land for sale in Florida, I am sure you will love it. Waterfront like you have never seen before. Bier? BIER is a stand on which a corpse or coffin is placed. buyer
Holy moly does this vehicle look incredible and very competitive in the electric vehicle segment. It looks like those science fiction cars.

@@ariefahmedshaik729My daughter also bought a Kona when her Jeep Renegade died.
Lol😅 cap
These guys love to measure things...
Still my top choice of the moment but we won't need another vehicle for a good five years, so can't wait to see what's available then.
No wireless CarPlay!! Thank you, but good bye!
Thank you! We will look into the GLS 👍
Nice one!!! One question - what they did to correct the error with the Type2 charging? This has been a serious problem with many vehicles (including Kia EV6) - mine included :(
Apparently they just software throttle the amperage taken in by the car
I was behind one of these today and I was thinking how great it looked so I came here. Unfortunately, the majority of EV look like shit on the inside, this is no exception. I don’t understand why this is the case for most EV’s
Absolutely Magnificent Review, Quite Meticulous and Very Much Entertaining 😅
Thank you kindly!
The rims and steering wheel are FUGLY!!!! But … other than those personal cosmetic opinions… this is an amazing EV!!!!
I’m looking for a lease deal because I need to replace two cars. The ioniq5 has some banger lease deals, at least locally. I’m slightly concerned about winter time and all that but, it’s a deal.
Is the only change for 2024 the range and digital mirror?
FOLLOWING
I also would like to know.
I believe the 2024 sel does not include folding mirrors anymore.
Very informative video! Thanks for sharing! Question, is this Cyber Grey AWD Long Range with Ultimate package?
Really do not care about the 0-60 times. Wish testers could fuhgeddaboudit.
Good luck replacing the battery on this turkey - it will cost you far more than the car is worth
A minor nitpick but I wish they had usb c ports instead of the regular ones.
So, only the 5N have the rear wiper... Look like I will have to wait. I'm in Canada and no rear wiper is a no deal for me.
The “retro futuristic” look is pretty lame. Center console doesn’t make any sense. Sunroof is cool though. Overall looks very cheaply made.
It’s great when you can’t exit the car and need to get out from passanger seat. If driving from UK to EU it’s great makes it easy to slide to passanger side and pay. Bag or gym kit can go there so it’s quick and easy. And you can just not move it at all if it bothers so much 😅
Great review thanks! Any details on dates when dealers will be getting them so I can go test drive one of the new models?
Thanks! It should be available very soon as fall is approaching 👍
Thanks so much @@CarConfections
It's a nice car, I'm getting mine in a few weeks. I got the base model SE RWD which is already a nice set of options. I wish the center console was extende all the way to the front, so there could be more volume to store stuff. I'm excited to have my first full EV.
Overall design is great just the rims not a fan of would probably just get different rims but nonetheless great ev.
I really wanted to not like this car but I took a test drive today and it blew me away. Put a deposit down and it arrives in 6 weeks. 😅 great review! The detail you guys provide is impeccable 👍
Thanks and glad we could help!
I was really into it a year or so ago, but having seen IRL, it was rather meh.
They should bring back hybrid Ioniq to compare with the Toyota Prius
That’s not an SUV. Looks like a hatchback
The fact you measured the distance with that bendy ruler made you lose all credibility regarding accuracy. It pained me to see that as a math person
We traded it in for a wooden ruler for all of our new reviews
I thought that the Standard comes with HDA2 and limited comes with HDA3. If they went backwards in tech from the 2022 model then that would be sad on their part.
HDA 3.0 is not currently available in the U.S but is offered in some other markets
Anyone know when the '24 models will be available for purchase? The Hyundai website only shows the '22 and '23 models.
This fall
Still no rear wiper for MY2024? I thought based on the N leaks we would finally get one...
Not a big deal. Spray down the rear glass with spray wax and buff out. Water will roll right off the glass, keeping it relatively clear.
I’ve had mine for a year and some change it is a pleasure to drive everyday couldn’t recommend more
Noble Land
So annoying that in the uk we can’t get HDA 2.0 at all on the Ioniq 5 or 6, even the KONA comes with it as standard on higher trims.
With electric cars coming out we have this new breed of not-car-guys doing reviews & not really even knowing what they’re talking about
Front fascia - front end/front bar/grill etc
Dual indicator lights - hazards
‘Lower area’ - rear bar
I could go on 😒
That's all ya got? Keep em coming Mr. Automotive genius
@@CarConfections the irony of calling me an automotive genius 🙃😁
8:00 Really Nice Solid-Sounding Thunk™️. 😂
2024 version still has only USB a? Ugh
U guys did a fantastic job with review very disappointed in the fact that I don’t have android auto or Apple CarPlay !! I think for the price they should add more features, I like the current one’s & space
They have both. Just not wireless.
the hyundai ioniq 5 is retro throwback to the original Hyundai Pony! Hyundai's first ever production car !
Great catch!
It’s a nice Volkswagen Honda look alike
Whyyyyyy are they allowed to call this an SUV?
No rear wiper??? That's a problem!!!
I really wish they’d put a rear wiper on it.
Amazing that 2 things everyone is asking for….rear wiper and wireless CarPlay and android auto are still not available for 2024 model.
Really unacceptable.
Fantastic review of an excellent vehicle!
Late night car reviews 🌚
do you need a subscription active to turn on your car remotely from the app or from the keyfob ?
No, that is included for the lifetime of the vehicle
Only 260 miles wtf not worth it
Dang, still USB-A? 😧
So it is a Tardis ? "DR.WHO"
Can you mount a standard 2 inch hitch on it and can you put a rooftop carrier on it?
USB?!? Wtf why no USB-C
Boring interior design.
A photo of your spouse?!
AKA weapon car
Mason gets to drive!
Good review. Hyundai is currently recalling some vehicles to check the ICCC and fuse, and there are some issues with at home charging and thermal management shutting down the charging. This EV offers so much more than a dour Model Y inside, but the 3 beats it in range and quickness.
...over $50k to replace the battery if you happen to run something over...no thanks...
Bier? BIER is a stand on which a corpse or coffin is placed. buyer
Hyundai has SE and SEL? Are the range the same?
yeah. the only thing that changes the range is whether it's awd/rwd. They're the same across pretty much every tier.
