After Effects tutorial - How to make Burn paper effect - 102

In this tutorial, i'll show you how to create burn paper effect in After Effects.
Effects are made with effects available in After Effects. The ash is created by Red Giant's Trapcode Particular plugin.

this is truly amazing. I only have apple's Motion so I tried to follow it by doing research on equivalent plugins and stuff on the side too. Quite a hustle. A lot of things I honestly just tried tweaking around controls and seemed to work similar enough.
But if anyone knows how to do it on Motion, pls make a tutorial on this or similar stuff. Tutorials on After effects are just so much more accessible than those for Motion. 🤷‍♂️

Instead of using the Alpha Inverted Matte, just use Alpha Matte and you'll get the "grow in" effect to your text or image

A fantastic tutorial, but I have a problem: at 6:40, I can't drag&drop the "BORDER". It doesn't move in the Layer panel...

Weird, particular won't show any particles, and i followed the instructions carefully...

I had the same problem. I found if I create a "light" layer and named it "emitter" first then created the ash layer, then everything worked correctly.
