  • US President Donald Trump has once again set his sights on Europe, implying its not safe.
Speaking at the annual conservative CPAC convention in Maryland he talked about a friend - Jim - who apparently does not visit France anymore because of the Paris and Nice attacks.
"Take a look at what's happened in France. I have a friend, he's a very, very substantial guy, he loves the city of lights. He loves Paris. Hadn't seen him in a while," Trump told the audience.
"And I said, 'Jim, let me ask y…

Except that would make no sense also, as "Frenchstan" literally means "land of the French" in Persian. There's literally nothing French about these invaders.

@@tedcrilly46 Large cities getting worse, number of no go zones on the rise, housing getting too expensive , crimes , acid and knife attacks rising exponentailly, politicians just as bad as the ones in the US and a society filled with apathy and ignorance (same in US). At least the americans are fighting eachother and not an invading ideology. Europe is full of riots too (France , Belgium, Uk, Germany in the last couple months). Press is the same in Europe as the one in the US, Covid hit just as bad if you look at Europe as a whole and not individual countries. At least Europe still has a decent social security system even if its failing slowly but surely. I would rather move to US at least for a while to be honest.

As a French citizen, I think President Hollande had the best answer to Trump's declaration. I am appalled by his attempts to justify his policies on immigration by talking about his perception of our country. Yes, France has a Muslim community, but also a Jewish one, a Christian one, a Buddhist one, etc. It's not always easy to live together but we try. I have always lived near Paris and never been attacked, although these suburbs are considered a lot more "dangerous" than Paris itself. There is more police and military patrols in the Capital following the attacks but Paris is still the same. It's not a dream city but it's still a beautiful one, just as Berlin, London or Rome.

Why is it "beautiful"? What makes it "beautiful?" I'd argue, what makes it beautiful is its history- and the people who are now dead, who made it that way over centuries. The Paris of today isn't French- French might be spoken some places and on billboards, but that doesn't make it French. If your French ancestors (if you're French) could see what you have all done to it- you and those before you over the last 50 years, they would be devastated. Absolutely. You've thrown your heritage away and pretended it didn't matter. What does Paris look like in 50 more years? If you think there is anyone of French birth- ancestry- there, you are high. No white people will be in Paris in 50 years. Poof. Gone.
