Meryl Streep is of course Meryl Streep, but I have to say Simon Helberg did a kickass job in this role. Glad we got this opportunity to see his range and talent. The scene where his character hears Florence sing for the first time is comedy gold and an instant classic.
I laughed and I cried. This is a wonderful movie. As she said in the end "they may say I couldn't sing but they can't say I didn't sing." Really touching. This was a beautiful cast!
I didnt expect to enjoy this film, watched it as a curiosity, absolutely surprised by how good it was, all actors were superb, Wollowitz knocked it out of the ballroom, Hugh Grant in the second best thing i have seen him do, "The Gentlemen" being #1 imo, oh yeah that Streep woman delivered as always.
Wonderful movie in every way. I have seen it about 5 times lol. There is the comedy, but it is inspiring and touching as well. All of the actors were excellent.
Inspiring, touching, & to me, thought provoking. Like she asked, how different would her life be if she had never met her first husband? Imagine having your life stifled that much because of having sex with your husband... She certainly made the most of it.
