Just wow. How sad that this unprofessional, livid, miserable, and condescending woman gets an opportunity to meet Hugh Grant and Simon Helberg, gets to interview and discuss a fantastic film, and works & lives in NYC! There's so much unfairness in life!! Sigh... I do love the interaction between Hugh and Simon and their subtle humor in their responses and comments as if they're about the film or the question but indirectly mocking the hostess such as in answering her question "what was the most enjoyable parts of the the shoot for both of you?", and Hugh looks at Simon, who had his lips pressed hard, and says, "I can't remember enjoying anything," and Simon chuckles and says, "misery"! :P
I agree, Simon and Hugh did a wonderful and "intriguing" job keeping it together with such an "abysmal" host. They are hilarious in other interviews. Too bad there wasn't the breathing space to be that way here. I couldn't watch the whole interview even though I love them. They are amazing actors. Hugh's honest look into himself during this interview and others is refreshing. Wish he did more work. I can't wait to see them in other roles. I loved the movie. One of my all time favorites. Lol funny and uplifting. Bravo.
I just feel the pain Hugh is going through because of this woman... My god she knows nothing about hosting... Even the audience come alive when both actors talk together...
at 12.50 she completely argues with Hugh about his political work being equivilent to a show review, although Hugh clearly stated they were completely different.
Simon made this movie. He is very hard to replace. They would never find another actor who plays the piano so perfect with the facial expressions of Simon.
what a terrible interviewer! At 12:51 Hugh explains what Hacked Off is, she doesn't listen and insists she's right when she is absolutely wrong. You can clearly see Grant souring through this interview but since he's proper and polite, he doesn't tell her off. What a strange, condescending interviewer.
Yeah, I agree it is a great movie. We really need more movies with substance. I first heard of Florence Foster Jenkins from David Bowie, he was into everything and I researched her but never thought they'd make a movie. So glad they did!
"I'm a great believer in lying...honesty is greatly overrated!" (Hugh Grant, 9:06 min). Both actors act very nervously and I think it's because both are in disbelief of the questions posed by the interviewer. She reminds me of Rosie O'Donnell.
After she tried to tell Hugh about his own campaign "hacked off" and then imply that her point was also similar, I came straight down to comment and yours is the first comment I found.
I can't say if it's the interviewer or the small venue that they sit in. But it does have an uncomfortable feel. Hugh Grant is always Self Deprecating and funny. The audience responds. And the host doesn't ever laugh. It's weird..
As an interviewer you're suppossed to try to connect with the person your interviewing in a respectful and professional way without crossing the line.. and it looks like you made Hugh so uncomfortable at times that He rather engage conversation with Simon and forget that you're even there.
To Sil M ..... No. No, she is NOT, I daresay. I've worked in media, am a cinephile, search out IRL interviews, enjoy talk shows when well done. Have never heard of or viewed this interviewer before. Found several of her questions kind of weird, and her being so flippant and sardonic -- esp. with Hugh Grant -- made me very uncomfortable. It sure does appear that most of the people commenting on this thread are pretty much in agreement with that.
@@dianacambridge38 She was just condescending. Hugh talks about Hacked Off and corrects her assumptions but she insists she was right. Like wtf. Hugh literally has spent more than 6 years of his life deeply entrenched in the movement.
What an incredibly ignorant interviewer completely ignoring the responses of her guests and giving opinion on things she obviously knows nothing about. This is an incredibly sensitive film about a woman yes with somewhat overflown aspirations but an incredible supporter of music of the time. Also a woman who obviously overcame some major physical disabilities. She ignored Hugh Grants response to what Hacked Off is about and when he said it was nothing like his characters buying off the press she was terribly rude disagreeing with him about something he knows a great deal about and she knows nothing about apparently. Hugh Grant has done a lot of good things with the Hacked Off campaign. 0/5 interviewer for not putting your guests at ease and arguing with or dismissing the answers given by them. Now I am hacked off.
i guess im asking the wrong place but does anyone know a trick to get back into an instagram account? I was stupid forgot my account password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me.
Is it me, or was the host flat, unlikable, and border line rude at times? She turned me off completely from this interview. I found her talking "down" to Hugh and Simon at times, completely inept at her job. What did everyone else think?
Hugh did that. Though I enjoy his work, and I find him personable, he’s a bit of a nob. He reveals himself with his statement, “honesty is overrated.” When someone tells you who they are, believe them.
Yep the interviewer is inept. She seems to be determined to destroy the conversation. She has two charming actors to talk to but makes them both uncomfortable.
Ms. Jenkins story is very amusing. I enjoyed the movie. The acting was great and it was a fun movie to watch. Bless these men for not cracking up at the interviewer.
Cringeworthy interview! The interviewer clearly thinks she's more interesting and clever than she is! To talk about Hacked Off and not understand a single thing about the phone hacking scandal is ridiculous! Thank goodness her guests were able to salvage it! Hugh Grant seemed rather perplexed by her inability to interview properly!
10.50 Do you think a Florence would be posible today..... Hellloooo Trump, the Kardashians, Paris Hilton, Jersey shore. All of them think they are amazing just as Florence.
the WORST host/interviewer i've ever seen.... how did she get this gig and how does she keep it??? this is not smart, she's rude, hard to watch and stopped at 4:12 and wished i'd never watched that! just awful!
This film puts you in such an embarrassing situation, as a spectator. You feel sorry for Florence and for the people in general. It is so disturbing and magical at the same time. I never felt like this before, about a film. It is a very surprising work of art and it shows the magic of the movies. 10/10
Simon Helberg knows that he is a definite contender for best supporting actor for next year's Academy Award .....and, of course, Ms.Streep will be nominated for her 20th Oscar nomination(!!!!!!!) for best actress! It's a good move for Helberg to appear in this movie, as he can start planning his next career move after Big Bang is cancelled.
Hugh Grant is enchanting as always. But that interviewer needs to find another job ~ working alone in a one-person office. She's horrible, stiff, and devoid of charm.
Although a bad singer, Florence Foster Jenkins had a lot of love and was very generous. The interviewer here is crude and cruel. I was really surprised at Simon Helberg who says that he was lucky his ears were never "tainted" by Florence's "shrill flailing" until this movie. Well, I don't think he was very well known till this movie. I mean, they don't have to be cruel. I thought Florence's singing was highly entertaining, amusing & unique, but they are showing pure contempt for her.
Props to Hugh for trying to get him involved. Honestly, this whole interview would have been better with just the two of them. Let Hugh take the reigns in asking the questions and just let Simon get comfortable.
I'm sure Simon Helberg feels like he's been launched from a giant slingshot! This is going to propel him straight to the top! So happy for him. He deserves to travel beyond that silly sitcom he's been in!
The interviewer has such bad energy and seems to have a negative agenda, or maybe she is just having a bad day. I hope this is not the norm for her. Simon seems inhibited by her and Hugh is working hard to retain his customary charm.
when the host ask them if they think Florence Could be possible today, who knows if she would fit today's Classical music scene, music lovers are not demanding as before, new generations are more about the looks and the celebrity factor, in Pop Music and other genres theres a lot of singers that are succesful because all of the money their family or their record companies invest on them, a lot of of the top 10 singers are deaf tone or doesn´t hit their notes at all(britney spears, katy perry, rihanna, taylor swift and so on).
The questions about was it right to protect FFJ is a stupid question if this is what really happened in the true story or that's what the script called for.
Is she really insisting on equating crime victims and their families being taken advantage of by the press with film reviews and celebrity gossips? Even after the conversation was very politely and elegantly rescued by Hugh, she just wouldn’t let it go. Some people need to learn how to admit mistakes, receive feedback and own up to them.
Oh my god, what's wrong with this interviewer? She keeps insulting the actors, asking the wrong questions and worst of all, trying to correct the actors in her own opinions.
Surprised that Aol have put their name to this technically woeful effort. With the three particpants having to hold their mikes, it's no wonder nobody could relax into conversation. The sound department was clearly under-resourced (The two blasts of extraneous music up front did not help). The tendency of hand-mikes to "pop" was a constant distraction. The setting was pretty awful, and to give the particpants three obviously uncomfortable and precarious high chairs did not help. If they could afford 4 manned cameras, tracking shots etc, why stint on the rest? I felt a bit sorry for the interviewer who did not stand much of a chance under such circumstances, and whose inexperience was cruelly exposed as a result.
Yes the technical aspects were painfully amateurish but the interviewer was even worse than amateurish. She did not do any of the basic pre-interview research that is part of the *job* ffs.
The interviewer was worst. Technical issues aside, those issues can be disregarded if you have an engaging interview. And Donna was just flat and condescending. Look up Grant's interview with Janelle Riley from Variety for SAG-AFTRA for an example of an amazing interview.
This is one of those interviews that is so bad as to be almost unwatchable, but you keep watching just because it is so unbelievably bad! lol I did feel for Hugh and Simon here, it was clearly very awkward despite them doing their best to get through it with humor and grit. The interviewer is cold, flat and tactless. Very unprofessional.
More to the point: why didn’t they hire a competent interviewer? Somebody knows where some bodies are buried, and this clueless woman is their daughter.
It’s miserable to watch this interview. For one the host would not admit her opinions were ever wrong. Two she was way too judgmental as an interviewer. I think it’s wonderful that the society is more able to see that it’s important women have voices and opinion of their own; however in my opinion if you are an interviewer then your number one priority on the job is to help your guests to express their insights on the subjects of discussion, but not forcing your thoughts on your guests’ answer to create awkward atmosphere or dead silence. Especially this is not a political/current news interview.
This host does not have a sense of humour and is defensive at times. Hugh and Simon still manage to answer the questions in intelligent perceptive funny and entertaining ways
I think we are so used to interviewers are starstruck and fawn over film stars that the interviewer seems flat and uninspired. At least she wasn't doing that. As actors who live off praise they are not used to an interviewer who really isn't into them, it throws them off.

WTH is wrong with the Interviewer? So RUDE! 😝 she totally Ruined what could of been a wonderful, insightful, interesting interview with 2 amazing actors, about an enigma of lady!
I really liked the host. She is not in love with either guy, and she asked smart questions. I loved the answer about the abstract that Helberg gave. Think about it, Tchaikovsky and Stravinsky had people LEAVE because of dissonance. Jenkins did it with her voice. The people who sing on the mark sound so much better because of that. Florence paid so many people to be creative, as well as giving free seats to people at Carnegie Hall. She gave the gift of dissonance not unlike Stravinsky or Tchaikovsky.
Suit yourself, as my grandmother would say. She didn't act unnaturally in love with the guys and she joked with them and they got it. She made them shine. If she had been so terrible the guys would have stunk and they didn't.

I feel sorry for actors of this quality who have to put up with rude, off-putting interviewers like this forgettable woman
This interviewer did NOT do her homework. Hugh and Simon are both clearly uncomfortable.
What "homework" was she supposed to have done?
ill say this for hugh grant, he's generous with his insights and he's brave.
"This movie is more a question than it is a statement." I like that. That's a great evaluation.
I just feel the pain Hugh is going through because of this woman... My god she knows nothing about hosting... Even the audience come alive when both actors talk together...
at 12.50 she completely argues with Hugh about his political work being equivilent to a show review, although Hugh clearly stated they were completely different.
She’s a knob, she also used the word ‘quaint’ with a straight face
I am glad that others have also remarked on the ineptitude of the interviewer.
I love how they started to ignore her mid interview and talk to each other
Simon made this movie. He is very hard to replace. They would never find another actor who plays the piano so perfect with the facial expressions of Simon.
I totally agree! Rewatched this movie over the weekend and he really does steal almost every scene he's in!
they were in so much agony doing the interview, feel sorry for them
wow...... that host was amazing..... amazingly boring and lacking any thread of a personality.
I agree...I kept asking where in the hell they got her and her questions!
Jason, I couldnt agree more with you. I found her extremely rude and condescending to both actors.
I agree - Dumb questions - If they had not protected Florence there would not have been a story AADAA
what a terrible interviewer! At 12:51 Hugh explains what Hacked Off is, she doesn't listen and insists she's right when she is absolutely wrong. This film is lovely. One of the best of the year
Yeah, I agree it is a great movie. We really need more movies with substance. I first heard of Florence Foster Jenkins from David Bowie, he was into everything and I researched her but never thought they'd make a movie. So glad they did!
I agree. It's a work of art. All of the performances are pitch perfect. Hugh Grant is brilliant.
short year u had then
Totally agreed, has become one of my favorite films of all time. Simon Helberg is probably my favorite performance
"I'm a great believer in lying...honesty is greatly overrated!" (Hugh Grant, 9:06 min). Both actors act very nervously and I think it's because both are in disbelief of the questions posed by the interviewer. She reminds me of Rosie O'Donnell.
He's giving her shit answers to expose her shit questions, and she still doesn't even have the grace to own it.
“They might say I can’t interview, but no one can say I didn’t interview”
Sheesh! Someone buy up all the newspapers of Donna's interview and dump them in the trash
this host is unprofessional. she is condescending and rude.
she is so rude and insecure u wonder why some women are called a bitch
Not to mention that the second question is already a spoiler.
What an idiot.
I think you're right. Miss Congeniality, she ain't.
After she tried to tell Hugh about his own campaign "hacked off" and then imply that her point was also similar, I came straight down to comment and yours is the first comment I found.
I completely agree. She acts so snobby. I love how Simon and Hugh don't stoop to her level.
I can't say if it's the interviewer or the small venue that they sit in. But it does have an uncomfortable feel. Hugh Grant is always Self Deprecating and funny. The audience responds. And the host doesn't ever laugh. It's weird..
Bitter woman
Hugh Grant's voice. He makes saying "Stahhsi" sound sexy.
he's adorable for 56.........and handsome
He is! He’s such a great speaker, and very cordial!
As an interviewer you're suppossed to try to connect with the person your interviewing in a respectful and professional way without crossing the line.. and it looks like you made Hugh so uncomfortable at times that He rather engage conversation with Simon and forget that you're even there.
And Hugh's lovely sense of irony is quiet lost on her....who is she??? Is she well known in the US????
To Sil M ..... No. No, she is NOT, I daresay. I've worked in media, am a cinephile, search out IRL interviews, enjoy talk shows when well done. Have never heard of or viewed this interviewer before. Exactly
She totally got what Hugh Grant does in regards to the media wrong and then said she was still kind of right. She was wrong.
omg! did the interview really just equate getting a bad review in the press with a murder victims cellphone getting hacked?
Hugh did that. Though I enjoy his work, and I find him personable, he’s a bit of a nob. He reveals himself with his statement, “honesty is overrated.” When someone tells you who they are, believe them.
This 'interviewer' defies belief. About as awful as they come.
Yep the interviewer is inept. She seems to be determined to destroy the conversation. She has two charming actors to talk to but makes them both uncomfortable.
Hard to believe she saw the film and then came up with questions this dumb and insensitive.
That;s how she feels important...
I fully agree that this host comes across as amateurish and lacking both insight and intellect.
glad other people notice her shitty interview skills
I didn't really like the host....
she's absolutely terrible. a nightmare
Horrible. So presumptuous.
The Donald Trump of interviewers.
Ha ha ha ha Exactly!!!
MetrazolElectricity - Oi! Don't put down Hillary, She has way bigger balls than you, punk!
Simon responds in a very thoughtful and interesting way to these questions.
Ms. Jenkins story is very amusing. I enjoyed the movie. The acting was great and it was a fun movie to watch. Bless these men for not cracking up at the interviewer.

Funny !

I knew already how great Hugh Grant is, but I did know this young actor, he has been very good.
20:13 Hugh just messed with her intellectually big time and finished it off with the most charming smile like cherry on top of the cake 🍰😎
She's the real-life version of Ms. Swan on Mad TV.
I loved the film!! Thank you for your excellent work! Such a great film capturing that time in history.
The guests shine !!!

Tainted, should not have been used.
It was almost painful watching Simon being so nervous around Hugh, although he tried to make him comfortable.

couldn't watch this through.. rude host that admired her own intellect.. sorry. Too bad cause I love the actors
I loved Music and Lyrics, too!!!
Her questions were ok but haven't you heard of smiling and being friendly instead of looking like you don't really care?
wow before the interview..you played the entire movie, more than the trailers out there
I'm sure Simon Helberg feels like he's been launched from a giant slingshot! This is going to propel him straight to the top! So happy for him. He deserves to travel beyond that silly sitcom he's been in!
Donna Manning yes!!!
Love that “silly sitcom”, and so do most people!
The interviewer has such bad energy and seems to have a negative agenda, or maybe she is just having a bad day. I hope this is not the norm for her. Simon seems inhibited by her and Hugh is working hard to retain his customary charm.
It does seem Meryl does her best work in British films?
Florence to singing is this interviewer to interviewing.
awful host very unlikable, even Hughs wit, personality and humour struggle with this dour host.

This interviewer said that Hugh didn't work as much. For which Hugh had to correct her by saying that he was doing other things. So disrespectful
The show was really funny and a little poignant. The cast was just terrific. I really enjoyed this show.
25:18 Raj Koothrappali asking questions.
Just watched this now. I hope the interviewer has learned from her mistakes by now and can elicit answers from a guest rather than make snide remarks.
The questions about was it right to protect FFJ is a stupid question if this is what really happened in the true story or that's what the script called for.
11:01: She would've been absolutely taken to pieces by Twitter in 2 seconds flat.
Terrible interviewer.
Does anybody know if the interviewer got fired after this interview session or she still got the job??

Look up Grant's interview with Janelle Riley from Variety for SAG-AFTRA for an example of an amazing interview.
Simon Helberg is a little bitty man. Hugh Grant, who is not a large man, looks burly compared to Helberg.
Little but cute
Sounds like it was a tough job for these actors. In other words, a job, and satisfaction is still wanting. It must've exhausted them.
Does this BUILD series have ANY good interviewers? I've watched dozens of BUILD interviews & haven't run across a decent interviewer yet. #Sad
The trailer showed pretty much the whole story.
This is one of those interviews that is so bad as to be almost unwatchable, but you keep watching just because it is so unbelievably bad! lol
I did feel for Hugh and Simon here, it was clearly very awkward despite them doing their best to get through it with humor and grit. The interviewer is cold, flat and tactless. Very unprofessional.
The interviewer is really unprofessional... :/
Dreadful interviewer. Patronising and very ungracious. She also asked many trite, clichéd questions.
Why didn't someone write some good questions for this interview?
More to the point: why didn’t they hire a competent interviewer? Somebody knows where some bodies are buried, and this clueless woman is their daughter.

Totally disagree with the other comments, I thought this host did an amazing job eliciting some novel answers.
Are you her lezzo lover?
Or are you her? 🤣
This host does not have a sense of humour and is defensive at times. Hugh and Simon still manage to answer the questions in intelligent perceptive funny and entertaining ways
Fabulous movie. Simon Helberg should go back to acting school.
This whole interview was painful.

awkward interviewer
The host is so rude...the point of this story is she was inspiring to others....geez, so condescending.
People who are bad at things sticking together sounds like the United States Legislators.
Am glad i read the comments before watching the interview am interested in what the actors have to say but am skipping this one because of the interviewer
I saw this woman in another interview and i had to stop watching it because she was making it soo boring
Telling Florence Jenkins that she can't sing would've been like telling a transgender woman that he is a man.
the host is less talented as the woman's voice she was gossiping about
Just horrible. Somebody please ban her from talking publicly, let alone asking questions.
WTH is wrong with the Interviewer? So RUDE! 😝 she totally Ruined what could of been a wonderful, insightful, interesting interview with 2 amazing actors, about an enigma of lady!
The interviewer seems a version of florence foster jenkins quite clueless how bad she is!!.
"Vocal maneuvering" LOL.
More like "vocal meandering".
Hugh seems so bothered to be there; perhaps the interviewer?
on the whole a good interview
I really liked the host. She is not in love with either guy, and she asked smart questions. I loved the answer about the abstract that Helberg gave. She had a bitchy look on her face the whole time! Truly awful! I would have done a better job
She looks so condescending!
Such an awkward interview, Simon and Hugh aren’t relaxed and the presenter never seems to manage to put them at their ease.
