I like your ending statements, you don't need to get too carried away. I see so many people saying you have to have it perfect, they change pistons every 50 hours and won't run anything but 32:1. Come on people, get into the 21st century.
Hi Jeff, love your videos. They are very helpful. The vertex piston comes with instructions saying the end gap can be between .40mm and .60mm based on a formula using the bore size. The KTM service manual recommends a MAX of .40mm. Which is correct? My rings came in at .50mm and .55mm. Is this detrimental to performance or longevity? Will I achieve anything having my bore re coated to reduce the end gap to 12 thousandths/.33mm?
i wanted a ktm so long then i get one only to find out they stopped making parts for it. it being a 2000 ktm 250 sx how is this i had a 1972 xr 200 no problem getting parts. ktm must think everyone has lots of money. like what do i do with this turn it into a 3000$ lawn ornament

As long as the gap is not too tight, under .010", install it and ride.

Just found you chanel its awsome.
Thank you.
Thanks Jeff, great video!!
Where does on find Ring End Gap Specifications? Manual is only showing "Type" of ring, not a gap spec. Thanks.
On a 250/300 the gap should be about .012".
Getting ready to do a top end on my son's cr80rb what would the ring gap be on that

Sell it and buy a CR or YZ 250.
so the smaller the measurement, the better?
The less blow-by you will have but bigger risk of seizure if you don't pay attention.
