  • How much sugar do you typically consume? If you have no sweet clue, Jamie Oliver would like a word. The British chef and food activist joins Shad to discuss the mindless consumption of sugar and why he's lobbying for a tax on sugary drinks in the U.K.

q is a magazine show that’s unpredictable in the best sense - proud to be “a wild mix of culture by way of Canada” as described by the New York Times. The Globe & Mail noted the show’s “raging popularity across a variety of platforms -- podcasts, television, websites, satellite radio, terrestrial radio, and occasional live remote broadcasts."

If you haven't already, go to Netflix and watch the documentary 'Fed Up'. it's an incredibly well done doc about the food industry and its abhorrent use of sugar in every possible product. I used to be addicted to mountain dew, drank 1-2 liters a DAY. watching that doc made me cut out all soda.

a lot of people are addicted to sugar telling someone to cut back on sugar is like telling an alcoholic to just drink in the weekends

Thank you Jamie for your activism for the health concern of our children. I see so many obese and morbidly obese children everywhere I go. As a former health care worker, I am pained by the size of the youth.......... It is not only about the money, but about healthy choices because I grew up in poverty and sugar was a treat on Sunday.

Really interesting interview! I agree with pretty much all the statements Jamie was giving out. I've definitely been changing the food I eat and buy recently

Sugar, fat, and salt isn't what's bad in and of itself -- it's the lack of balance and moderation, and the lack of nutrition when people only eat processed foods. Our bodies need so much salts, fats, carbs to function properly, we just can't continue to over load our bodies with them.

Sugar - bad, what about bacon and red meat?

+Ivan Mitov everything isn't laced in bacon. Sugar is in nearly everything in your local grocery store.

Jordan O Ok. By the way, I'm pretty sure there is sugar in bacon and most processed meats.

The sugar in chocolate bars and cakes are the problem?
Aren't those things like 75% of calories from fat?

Fat isn’t the problem, google Dr. Eric Berg, Dr. Jason Fung, Dr. Darren Schmidt

Gas fed Meat isn’t what makes you fat we’ve been eating fat for 4 million years, it’s the processed meats!! Processed garbage foods and sugar, google Dr. Darren Schmidt, Dr. Eric Berg, Dr. Jason Fung and many others that are saying it’s the processed garbage foods that’s doing it!!

Jamie has a great heart and and genuinely cares about people, but he seems very naive in the way he believes in (certain) Politicians to do the right thing.

+Nigelxman .I don't believe he is naïve...just optimistic. It's a shame that politicians need to act on this at all...our business leaders should be the ones "doing the right thing." Telling the truth and making a fair profit don't have to be mutually exclusive.
