Well this was an epic day of diving and one for the memories!
In this episode, Mark, Holly & the Wakely clan dive the infamous and legendary Tiputa Pass in Rangiroa, French Polynesia 🇵🇫.
This incredible dive site is famous for dolphins, a fast drift through the pass between 4-8 knots and sharks, lots and lots of sharks! This is not a dive to miss out.

I wish we were with you on that dive! What an incredible experience. Also… thank you Mark for the explanation about the cultural significance and relationships with the wildlife there. Otherwise, people would SURELY get the wrong idea and think that was ok everywhere in general. It certainly is not. One last thing.. I thought Holly didn’t like wrist computers! 😂 And now a Perdix? Welcome to the “club” Holly!
Yeah very true. We debated if we should include that footage or not. But after agreeing it is cultural, we would put it up and explain.
Hahahaha, her Scubapro G2 kept failing and just constant problems. Sshe wanted a Shearwater for when she starts tec courses 😊 he loves it and is now converted!

How deep was this dive?
We entered the pass at 30m/100ft and it stays at around 24m/80ft for large part then it shallows up through the remainder of pass to 5m/15ft.
If want to enter deeper you can.

Yeah we have Movo system for our resort tours but nothing for GoPro
I dove there in 2019 - it was amazing!
In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with touching wildlife like dolphins if the animals come to you to initiate the contact. In Rangiroa, some of the dolphins want you to interact - they stop in front of you as they want a belly rub.
Especially when it is culturally the norm in FP.
It is a truly amazing divve apot.
