  • A presentation by the Benedictine Nuns of St Cecilia's Abbey, Ryde, Isle of Wight, UK, describing the soul of the place, the spirit of the Consecrated Life as lived in this monastery. Founded in 1882, the monastery is part of the Solesmes Congregation, has over 30 nuns, and lives a traditional life of prayer, work and study. The nuns chief occupation is the love and worship of God day and night. It is expressed in their communal prayer and Holy Mass: in the love and service which they offer to one another and to the guests received at the monastery: in sacred reading, intercession for the needs of the world, and in their contemplation of God in the silence of their hearts.

They chant like angels. Every time we visit, as soon as they start I just sit and bawl my eyes out. 🙄

I like to fall asleep listening to them. And then, something really surreal happens: I start singing in my dream the same music they are singing in Latin but, instead of singing in Latin, I sing in English songs I never heard before in my life, however, it is the same music composition and same tonality they are singing, praising the Lord in English -- when English isn't my Native language, how come do I know those songs and the lyrics?! It also happens that in some dreams I visit places I have never been before and I see things that can only be found in Heavens. Besides that, I sleep so profoundly for 8 to 9 hours non-stop. And their singing goes on and on and on throughout the dream or sleep, even if the music had only lasted one hour in the tablet and I haven't set the repeating-mode on. The tablet goes on sleep mode, stops after one hour playing their music, but their voices and divine presence fulfil my dreams. I told a friend of mine about it, he tried the same and it didn't work with him, with none of my friends. I really don't know why it happens only to me this experiences. I have so many music sung by monks from all over the planet but only the nuns of Saint Cecilia inspire my sleep that way. It is a blessing! 💞 May God bless you.

What a beautiful video about a wonderful way of life. Religious life is timeless and unchanging in its essential purpose-the ceaseless praise of Almighty God. Fashions and fads come and go, but women will always be drawn to living a closer union with Jesus Christ within the cloistered walls of monasteries. Praise the Lord!

One of the sisters told our 8th grade class back in the day that the reason why GOD doesn't destroy our planet is because of the holy people who live the Gospel daily. I think that Sr. Mary Elenore was right. One smart lady now in Heaven I'm sure.
