It' obviously a great performance the Tommy's one, but I think also JD Simo here does a stunning job! The attitude, the singing and the sounds are just perfect!
@@larryn2682 Not an ounce of ego Larry, rather someone who exudes, and shares the immeasurable joy he experiences by doing what he loves and clearly brings joy to millions of others in the process.
I love that Simon and Bonamassa carry the torch for the great blues players. Without them all we have is speed and no soul. No offense to other genres but rock guitar is dead without these guys to shine the light.
After Joe Cocker by far the best version i've ever heard, gobsmacked by the performance of them all, great singer aswell as guitarist JD, and well Tommy Emmanuel, no comment he's just one of if not the best !
It's great to see two MAJOR guit slingers hit the stage together to rock out on this timeless rock classic. They look like they're having an absolute blast.
Wow! This made my hair stand on end! He sounds *SO* much like Joe Cocker it's uncanny, and this is the first time I've seen Tommy rock out on a Strat! Absolutely phenomenal performance!
Tommy' electric playing has always been excellent. I recommend checking anything out that he plays with his brother, Phil. The way they play together needs to be heard to be believed.
The guitar cries and say it needs a little help when Tommy shreds it! A few of guitarist in this world who can transcend from classical to contemporary generation of music.
So many times when people redo a song, especially musicians with high skill levels, they lose the essence of the song. That's not the case here. In fact it's the opposite. They made me a bigger fan of the song. This is brilliant.
Just discovered JD from his work with the Lexington Lab Band, who are worthy of your time, for sure. His guitar work with them made me look further into his work. His vocals here are as passionate as Joe Cocker performing the best version that I ever heard of this song.
+Raymond Baglari Not at all man, both Tommy's and Simo have got 10 times the soul and swing than Vai. I like Vai, but I wish he would play with the heart that he does in Tender Surrender more often. But they aren't in the same category in my opinion.
Matthew Laurence Steve Van is leagues better, but it's in technicality. SIMO is way better than Bad when it comes to soul or funk or groove or whatever you call the mojo that makes you wail like that.
WOW that was fucking awesome. I saw Tommy playing at a little gig at a C.d shop in perth when I was about 17 playing his Tele with band. Drummer from Mondo Rock etc it was one of the most moving and exciting moments of my life. I met him, spoke to him, he signed my guitar and a poster for me, and I will remember it for the rest of my life. As the great Mr Chet Atkins bestowed on him the coveted C.G.P. (certified guitar player) he is truly one of the greats, and a good old Aussie bloke you rock Tommy.
Loving this guy's voice 😍 Also, Tommy's improv skills are second to none. He really is the very best there is. Plenty of great guitar players out there, but I've yet to see anyone soar across the guitar like Tommy does. Oh wait... Yes I have, Phil 😅 he's the only one comparable.
I remember this song from "The Wonder Years - TV Show". Tommy and SIMO HAVE JUST nailed the song....... Even better. Tommy you have already proven you're a true guitarists on all levels ...... Keep it up and thanks for the video........
last week i saw tommy and simo in heerlen (nl). it was a verry good concert.. not to many people there but tommys and simos playing was brilliant. i love tommys way to play guitar. i think he is world best guitar player. good work and many thanks to jd simo and tommy emmanuel.
we heard the band tonight- first time. NO WORDS can describe how frickin amazing they are. Actually considering driving to the Brooklyn Bowl to see them again tonight.
I'm sure I'm very behind the times to just learn about JD Simo today, however I went searching and here he is with you of all people Tommy. What fantastic energy this performance has from all 4 of you. He's awesome and what a voice!! Love your work mate, but you already know that. Cheers, Jason from Ishibashi Music in Shibuya, Tokyo
JD Simo s singing and palying somehow reminds of me Jeff Healy who is very much missed. For those who do not happen to know JH check his cover of While my Guitar gently weeps..
Yeah, I can see that. Jeff Healey was one of my favourite musicians and the first ever concert I went to at a venue that no longer exists. Simo might just have it in the voice, but Jeff was a brilliant live player.
It' obviously a great performance the Tommy's one, but I think also JD Simo here does a stunning job! The attitude, the singing and the sounds are just perfect!
😎👍👍
Guitars, rhythm section, everything great, but man, that guys vocals are off the charts.
I saw Joe Cocker perform this 40 years ago and I was blown away. I am blown away again. Wow. Just wow.
Tuned in to see Tommy and then was blown away by this guy's singing. The harmonizing with the guitar on the chorus is especially impressive.
tommy is the best friend the guitar ever had.
Very true. My guitar is a little bit jealous around here...
@@armff4817 This is what my guitar watches when I leave for work :(
He shows off too much. Too much ego.
@@larryn2682 Not an ounce of ego Larry, rather someone who exudes, and shares the immeasurable joy he experiences by doing what he loves and clearly brings joy to millions of others in the process.

doesn't matter what guitar it is, cheap, expensive, acoustic or electric, Tommy Emmanuel will kill it.
What rock and roll used to be. The real stuff. How I miss it.
Just wow! Incredible talent, great song. Can't believe this doesn't have 5mm views or more....
After Joe Cocker by far the best version i've ever heard, gobsmacked by the performance of them all, great singer aswell as guitarist JD, and well Tommy Emmanuel, no comment he's just one of if not the best !
I heard these lads for the forst time at the Ramblin' Man Fair in Maidstone last weekend. JD Simo is a virtuoso. Unbelievable talent
Can you imagine stumbling into a bar and walking in on this performance??
You wouldn't be leaving no time soon!
I walked into a tiny bar in the uk and saw the jd Simo band about 7 years ago and they blew my mind. Absolutely off the scale.
Anonymoose Woops, not a Strat, it's a Tele. I was too busy watching his fingers first time through.....
That's a Tele Tommy is using, just has three pickups like a Nashville Tele. Heck, may even be one.
This was something else! WOW!
Keepin' it real with the 60 cycle hum, wouldn't have it any other way. This kills.
One of the most underrated performances on RUclips. It’s a damn masterpiece. Anything Tommy Emmanuel does is a masterpiece.
Absofuckinglutely!
Literally ANYTHING!!!
Tommy is the greatest of all time!✨🎸✨
💪😎👍
It’s a snooz fest. I like JD Simo and Tommy Emanuel. This was overhyped for sure.

Unbelievable duo. RIP Phil.
What a great version of this cover...LIVE! Absolutely love the dynamics and JD can sing!
The last part was *EPIC* !! I think I didn't breath in the last 3 minutes..
The guitar cries and say it needs a little help when Tommy shreds it! A few of guitarist in this world who can transcend from classical to contemporary generation of music.
One of the greatest opening in rock history. Simple but perfect
JD and TE bring out the best of each other. This has got to be the best cover in the history of covers!!
To play like that with a clean tone...
is pure, unadulterated BALLS and BADASSERY.
So many times when people redo a song, especially musicians with high skill levels, they lose the essence of the song. That's not the case here. In fact it's the opposite. They made me a bigger fan of the song. This is brilliant.
A LUCKY band to have TE play with them!!
Nice to see Tommy electric once in a while.
MAN ! This is good ! No more words required, only ears !
Sad crowd, heavenly Music and excellent musicians
tommy e. true treasure...guitarist's guitarist. right up there with chet, les, & then some.
Fxxxing awesome! That’s all it occurs me to say. 🙏🏻👍🏻
who needs the O2 when you can see this talent in small venues without screens and all the bullshit , love small venues
Yes, the intimate club venue allows much greater dynamic range-not to mention atmosphere!
Great rendition of that song the two guitarists at their best.Brings a lot of Emotions, notwithstanding anyone's skills!Jeandel
What a great performance here Tommy & SIMO....one awesome listen for sure!
Wow! This guy is Joe Cocker the second! I'd kill for a voice like that.
Genuinely the best version of this I have heard
James Kilpatrick you should listen to the Joe Cocker version, it doesn’t have the guitar prowess but the singing is pretty amazing.
Just discovered JD from his work with the Lexington Lab Band, who are worthy of your time, for sure.
His guitar work with them made me look further into his work. His vocals here are as passionate as Joe Cocker performing the best version that I ever heard of this song.
Agreed!
6:30 to the end. Wow! Watched that part like 5 times.
Yeahh this part is extremely amazing.
Yeah man that part was sick, kinda make think over is Tommy Emmanuel better den Steve Vai. haha that's silly though
+Raymond Baglari Not at all man, both Tommy's and Simo have got 10 times the soul and swing than Vai. I like Vai, but I wish he would play with the heart that he does in Tender Surrender more often. But they aren't in the same category in my opinion.
silly? he IS better on many levels- but apples to oranges.
