It' obviously a great performance the Tommy's one, but I think also JD Simo here does a stunning job! The attitude, the singing and the sounds are just perfect!
After Joe Cocker by far the best version i've ever heard, gobsmacked by the performance of them all, great singer aswell as guitarist JD, and well Tommy Emmanuel, no comment he's just one of if not the best !
who needs the O2 when you can see this talent in small venues without screens and all the bullshit , love small venues
Yes, the intimate club venue allows much greater dynamic range-not to mention atmosphere!
doesn't matter what guitar it is, cheap, expensive, acoustic or electric, Tommy Emmanuel will kill it.
tommy is the best friend the guitar ever had.
Very true. My guitar is a little bit jealous around here...
@@armff4817 This is what my guitar watches when I leave for work :(
He shows off too much. Too much ego.
@@larryn2682 Not an ounce of ego Larry, rather someone who exudes, and shares the immeasurable joy he experiences by doing what he loves and clearly brings joy to millions of others in the process.
@@larryn2682 Lol. The dude is the most humble guy in the world.
I love that Simon and Bonamassa carry the torch for the great blues players. Without them all we have is speed and no soul. No offense to other genres but rock guitar is dead without these guys to shine the light.
I saw Joe Cocker perform this 40 years ago and I was blown away. I am blown away again. Wow. Just wow.
One of the most underrated performances on RUclips. It’s a damn masterpiece. Anything Tommy Emmanuel does is a masterpiece.
Absofuckinglutely!
Literally ANYTHING!!!
Tommy is the greatest of all time!✨🎸✨
💪😎👍
It’s a snooz fest. I like JD Simo and Tommy Emanuel. This was overhyped for sure.
@@DS-nw4eqand you're a tard.
@@DS-nw4eqyour last leg just slipped off the banana peel!
Wow! This made my hair stand on end! He sounds *SO* much like Joe Cocker it's uncanny, and this is the first time I've seen Tommy rock out on a Strat! Absolutely phenomenal performance!
Anonymoose Woops, not a Strat, it's a Tele. I was too busy watching his fingers first time through.....
That's a Tele Tommy is using, just has three pickups like a Nashville Tele. Heck, may even be one.
6:30 to the end. Wow! Watched that part like 5 times.
Yeahh this part is extremely amazing.
Yeah man that part was sick, kinda make think over is Tommy Emmanuel better den Steve Vai. haha that's silly though
+Raymond Baglari Not at all man, both Tommy's and Simo have got 10 times the soul and swing than Vai. I like Vai, but I wish he would play with the heart that he does in Tender Surrender more often. But they aren't in the same category in my opinion.
silly? he IS better on many levels- but apples to oranges.
Matthew Laurence Steve Van is leagues better, but it's in technicality. SIMO is way better than Bad when it comes to soul or funk or groove or whatever you call the mojo that makes you wail like that.
This was something else! WOW!
Tommy' electric playing has always been excellent. I recommend checking anything out that he plays with his brother, Phil. The way they play together needs to be heard to be believed.
Unbelievable duo. RIP Phil.
Wow! This guy is Joe Cocker the second! I'd kill for a voice like that.
The last part was *EPIC* !! I think I didn't breath in the last 3 minutes..
So many times when people redo a song, especially musicians with high skill levels, they lose the essence of the song. That's not the case here. In fact it's the opposite. They made me a bigger fan of the song. This is brilliant.
What rock and roll used to be. The real stuff. How I miss it.
The best damn song on RUclips.
I'm lucky to have met both these incredible guitarists.
Guitars, rhythm section, everything great, but man, that guys vocals are off the charts.
My lord you all went Free Bird at the end, yesssssssss!!!!!!
Awesome job by JD Simo
2 of my favorite players.
And RJ, you make three. You're fantastic also
+Jim Powers who
It's great to see two MAJOR guit slingers hit the stage together to rock out on this timeless rock classic. They look like they're having an absolute blast.
In a serious relationship with the replay...
haha great comment. Me too
Me too and loving it
@@flashcracker1 Is this not the best cover ever! So glad I found out about JD SIMO! Tommy is a legend. I just happened to run across JD in a cover band called the Lexington lab band. He was doing a Johnny cash set with those guy's. Wow. Blew me away. You wanna check out a good cover band check out the Lexington lab band! You won't be disappointed!
@@terrycrotts2522 thanks Terry. The Lexington lab band are very good, I have just checked them out. I saw Tommy and J D Simo on tour earlier in the year and I loved their show. Got my first ever photo with J D so am feeling chuffed. Enjoy the music!
@@flashcracker1 Oh man lucky you! I so want to see JD so bad! I'm gonna try to catch one of his shows if he gets back around Nashville! I'm in NC. But would love to see him play in Nashville since that's pretty much where he got started. But yes Tommy E is fantastic as well. Awesome guitarist!
The guitar cries and say it needs a little help when Tommy shreds it! A few of guitarist in this world who can transcend from classical to contemporary generation of music.
I heard these lads for the forst time at the Ramblin' Man Fair in Maidstone last weekend. JD Simo is a virtuoso. Unbelievable talent
Sad crowd, heavenly Music and excellent musicians
That tone is SMOKIN!
MAN ! This is good ! No more words required, only ears !
Just discovered JD from his work with the Lexington Lab Band, who are worthy of your time, for sure.
His guitar work with them made me look further into his work. His vocals here are as passionate as Joe Cocker performing the best version that I ever heard of this song.
Agreed!
What a great version of this cover...LIVE! Absolutely love the dynamics and JD can sing!
JD and TE bring out the best of each other. This has got to be the best cover in the history of covers!!
Can you imagine stumbling into a bar and walking in on this performance??
You wouldn't be leaving no time soon!
Keepin' it real with the 60 cycle hum, wouldn't have it any other way. This kills.
A LUCKY band to have TE play with them!!
Nice to see Tommy electric once in a while.
What a great performance here Tommy & SIMO....one awesome listen for sure!
Loving this guy's voice 😍
Also, Tommy's improv skills are second to none. He really is the very best there is. Plenty of great guitar players out there, but I've yet to see anyone soar across the guitar like Tommy does. Oh wait... Yes I have, Phil 😅 he's the only one comparable.
Touche!!
JD Simo s singing and palying somehow reminds of me Jeff Healy who is very much missed. For those who do not happen to know JH check his cover of While my Guitar gently weeps..
Yeah, I can see that. Jeff Healey was one of my favourite musicians and the first ever concert I went to at a venue that no longer exists. Simo might just have it in the voice, but Jeff was a brilliant live player.
tommy e. true treasure...guitarist's guitarist. right up there with chet, les, & then some.
ok I didn't know Simo could sing
and I didn't know Tommy Played Electric!!!!!!!!!!
Check out his blues jam with bonamassa n josh smith.. 😉
@@QuynhNguyen-zw8uv hes awesome...but to be honest He is much better on acoustic!! not even close
@@sooparticular totally different player.. Tommy’s obviously I bit more restrained in this setting but he’s also playing within the context of the song and the band.
FANTASTIC SOLO
Great rendition of that song the two guitarists at their best.Brings a lot of Emotions, notwithstanding anyone's skills!Jeandel
I remember this song from "The Wonder Years - TV Show". Tommy and SIMO HAVE JUST nailed the song....... Even better. Tommy you have already proven you're a true guitarists on all levels ...... Keep it up and thanks for the video........
Tuned in to see Tommy and then was blown away by this guy's singing. The harmonizing with the guitar on the chorus is especially impressive.
Tommy Emmanuel has younger soul than many guys at age of 20 that I know
One of the greatest opening in rock history. Simple but perfect
I love this video
Goosebumps...
He is comfortable with ANY style music.
i'll never be tired of it
Best thing I've seen on youtube for years.
Fxxxing awesome! That’s all it occurs me to say. 🙏🏻👍🏻
Wow!!! Just WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What an eargasm !!!
Had to come back and be moved again 👍🔥🎸🦅
Tommy can play anything!! Love SIMO!
Genuinely the best version of this I have heard
James Kilpatrick you should listen to the Joe Cocker version, it doesn’t have the guitar prowess but the singing is pretty amazing.
Fucking A Digging This seeing two greats playing together 🤟🏻🎸✨✨💫💫💫
Absolutely incredible!
WOW that was fucking awesome. I saw Tommy playing at a little gig at a C.d shop in perth when I was about 17 playing his Tele with band. Drummer from Mondo Rock etc it was one of the most moving and exciting moments of my life. I met him, spoke to him, he signed my guitar and a poster for me, and I will remember it for the rest of my life. As the great Mr Chet Atkins bestowed on him the coveted C.G.P. (certified guitar player) he is truly one of the greats, and a good old Aussie bloke you rock Tommy.
That was amazing
I'm sure I'm very behind the times to just learn about JD Simo today, however I went searching and here he is with you of all people Tommy. What fantastic energy this performance has from all 4 of you. He's awesome and what a voice!! Love your work mate, but you already know that.
Cheers, Jason from Ishibashi Music in Shibuya, Tokyo
Man what a feast for the soul! Soooo nourishing.
Great to see the unbelievable Tommy Emmanuel Rockin Out!! as for JD what a Legend!!
Never heard of SIMO until now! Turned on !
looks like a lot of fun up there tommy.
My God! I am an instant fan!!
GREAT performance from all of you !!
Feeling very envious about those folks who were at this gig!
I have watched this so many times. I love it
I was STUNNED... Lemme lemme lemme try that again..
Woah! That was Earth moving! What a fantastic performance of a classic rock anthem. Really nice!
Goosebumps.
Tommy E - magic & JD - brilliant
WOW! Great! Awsome! SIMO! =)

voce da paura ! Unico che puo' osare di cantare come joe cocher :Fantastic
This rocks !! Great version and discovered another band

Amazing version Tommy, greetings from Argentina, we expect to see you right here sometime.....
Love this!
Awesome performance.
M-I-T-I-C-I !!!!! WOW!!! quasi 10 minuti di musica fantastica!! :-))))
Awesome :) First time that I see Tommy on an electric guitar.
Sylvain Alain Check out 'New Shoes Blues' here on youtube: watch?v=kiMrp9bRq8E
Sylvain Alain Tommy Emmanuel first had success as an electric guitar player. He played in a few bands and released a few solo CD's Determination and The Journey..
Sylvain Alain you should also search for who dares wins :P
To play like that with a clean tone...
is pure, unadulterated BALLS and BADASSERY.
Holy Crap that was great SIMO rocks
GODAMAGE!!! That is absolute perfection!!
perfect song to jam for this two great guitarplayers
Wow it's like old Tommy again!
Joe and Leon would have approved for sure, and that's the ultimate compliment.
last week i saw tommy and simo in heerlen (nl). it was a verry good concert.. not to many people there but tommys and simos playing was brilliant. i love tommys way to play guitar. i think he is world best guitar player. good work and many thanks to jd simo and tommy emmanuel.
When music is played by inspired musicians it doesn't get any better!
Oh god. I'm dying to see more!
