I love this! Thank you for helping me evaluate MYSELF even as I published a short about being more interested just a few weeks ago!
I too, get so intense when I'm listening that my facial expression is sometimes not welcoming. I also get so excited for the person I'm speaking with that I jump in too soon to acknowledge them instead of waiting to for them to finish. I'm so blessed I start every day with you Ed. You are a change agent!

Once again, I listen to you and what you share with us, can't help but to smile and simply say WOW!!! There are things I am doing, good and not so good, when it comes to listening. This is a good starting point for anyone who is willing to learn and make yourself better as a listener. One of the things made me smile, is the point about that all of us have few words we use more than others. Weird but true:) I also use a phrase "does that make sense"...didn't know how important that was. Outstanding once again and life changing!!!

It's important to listen to people we really dislike or people we like that we had an argument with and offended us. If we dislike them so much and we're so angry with them. What are they reflecting of us? What is it within us that we need to work on and heal? There's always something to learn. I talk too much. I'm learning the art of listening and being present❤ I love listening to your wisdom. Thank you, Ed!

Wow! Incredible reminder for me. I tend to over share out of empathy when others share their story, I’ve learned through those experiences that I leave the conversation feeling like I took more than I gave-even though I was the one speaking. When I don’t compare my story, I feel like I have given more. Odd right?

Thank you so very much for this topic . Oh man this is priceless advice and I was so gobsmacked to know that you struggle with active listening as well. How connected do I feel to you Ed. It's incredible honestly , to realize that I'm not so unique in what I do and think around communication. I struggle with really listening to my mother at times and I do knowingly use negative body language so she will hurry up or I cut her off ,finish her sentence. I could go on. How about we have a call and discuss this further ? Thank you Ed . I love listening to you and your style of communication and how you interpret things and explain things fits my communication and understanding perfectly .

It’s not always that a person isn’t trained well to be a good listener.
