The role of media is about informing and educating about little knowns facts, be it of the past and present . Thank you Mr.Praveen and the Print for fulfilling that need. It is very painful to know about the Indian slaves and their trading. There is no point in politicizing the issue now. It would be rather useful to digress that past in the context of times yet pain would remain and should goad us to empower ourselves.
As far as the Hindu merchants of the times is concerned, they are the products of times and historical circumstances just like the British merchants, who played a much bigger role leading to establishment of an empire. So they endured the ravages of times, because they influenced the events to their favkur, which the Hindu merchants could not accomplish. India produced many things, which others felt a use for then by other nations and empire. Thst was possible because India had a manufacturing base. But now India has no manufacturing base of global scale. That role has been taken over by China,so the Chubese are playing the role which Hindu merchants is played.
A nation should first solve its own problems domestically by providing food, clothing, shelter, employment, education, health and sports. In addition to the anove and most importsntly, the citizens should be mentally empowered through its culture. Armed with general welfare of its citizens, borders properly protected through militarization and possession of cultural power , now-a-days called soft-power India woukd be ready for global play. What would our merchants or industrialists offer to the world. India has to first produce Rickefellers,Rithcjildes,Fords,Bill Gates,Jeff Bezos of the world backed by superior scientific and technogical knowledge , having ritual knowledge about our deep cultural past, not dwelling in the past. We have to first recognize first that all we have is this one life on one earth and play the game of life to the fullest here and now rather than living in the past. Understanding the past is the key to present and future. But living in the memories of psst glory is suicidal.
However, those Hindu merchants surely deserve our tribute for undertaking a journey which was dangerous then as now. Salute to their i fo.itable courage, adventure and zeal and desire for taking risk and enthusiasm and single-mindedness for achieving the goal of Artha(wealth), one of most important objectives of life.

I am surprised there are references to slaves used in Central Asia even in 1800s. Wokes will make you believe slavery was a distinctly American disgrace, pillaging on African demography.

our history books are just not educating our coming generations of their sacrifices and proud of previous generation who made contribute to present generation, instead in ciriculum we are studying about European history which is of less relevance of building a proud Indian...All state governments should include National heroes in ciriculum and cbse should dedicate 40% of it's history syllabus for local history to be included to make Indians proud of their cultural heritage

Before looking outside you should fix the ground inside the country and level the playing field for hindus, Things like:
    1) Wafq board act
    2) Places of worship act
    4) Halal food certificates that is cruel, bigoted and affects hindus from weaker background
    3) Common law only applicable to hindus
    4) Taxes on Hindu places of worship, and bussiness while excluding minority despite the fact they control more wealth and land.
    5) Autonomy given to minority on the basis of religion.
    6) disproportionate representation of minority on all level of government and business
    7) No government control on minority institution despite the fact their genocidal and discriminatory tendencies.
The histroy of Indian minorities is full of blood and genocide and that continues even today. Be it muslims, christian, sikhs or buddhits they all are thieves who have stolen the fruits of labour hardworking and peaceful sanatanis. Try fixing that.

Majority of these traders were of Punjabi Khatri & Sindhi origins, Sindhi traders were present in East Turkestan (now Xinjiang) uptill early 1930s after which riots broke out there. Partition of India severally affected their relations with central Asia ( as we lost border with Iran/ Afghanistan) Also these communities got destroyed financially

Shanghai is a waist of time. These countries with dictatorship governments can't have the will to unite where the potential is huge in the region. Remember, iran, pakistan and afghanistan planned to join an organization during shah of iran. Shanghai has not been able to recognize Emirate government. How can it solve bigger issues such as common goals of the organization. Very sorry to say another failed attempt in a failed region to unite.
