    Mt Baldy was the first long hike I ever did. 14 years ago my brother took me to the top. He unexpectedly died 6 months ago. So I’m planning to do that hike soon and release some of his ashes at the top. And if that book is still there, hidden in the rocks for people to sign and date, I’ll sign my brothers name(mine too of course lol) and let him rest there with all that beauty!

    Again - beyond awesome!! BRAVO! to you both.)))) One "note" on music - one thing I don't miss about SoCal camping - we were up in Balsch Park - Frasier Mill area last Summer. Thursday afternoon - had just finished making camp, and were chillin' in our own little grove of Sequoias, when 4 P/U trucks blasted in - blaring beats. Lots of screaming, shouting, horn blowing - they set up camp down the slope, maybe 200 yds away - but could hear them like they were right next to us. That night - they held a rave party until 4 am the next morning - flashing lights, fireworks, maybe 200W stereo and PA system, karaoke - they scavenged 2 truckloads of wood - burned it all in a no fire zone. 3 of us; 20 of them. We were out of there by 8. Trip = ruined by inconsiderate fools. It was my last trip in California, after 46 yrs of camping and backpacking all over the state. Remote and peaceful is definitely getting harder to find. Be careful, stay safe, and please be considerate, everyone. Honor the beauty and tranquility of Nature - like Adam and Elise.)))

    • @LiveHardxLoveHard
      @LiveHardxLoveHard  2 года назад

      Wow thanks for sharing that story, Ed! It's crazy, because the vast majority of people are so considerate and respectful of nature and their fellow nature lovers, but it only takes one really inconsiderate person or group to negatively effect everyone else. This is a really important message about honoring nature.

      Ed, Balch Park was my fav high school campground, great memories! I visited much later in the 90's and our neighbor campers were playing loud music heavy metal/country combo, after 10pm. I walked down to the camp host, and he drove right up to them and made them stop the disturbance. So sad that your camping was ruined by crazy ravers! I've seen hikers carrying boom boxes on NorCal trails too, unfortunately. So I try to hike OFF trail whenever possible.

One thing I can tell you about White Mountains is, even though the weather at the base is 90 degrees, please bring winter jackets.
