Its changed. It use to be tourism focused a while back, the tourists were being catered for at the expense of the locals, who didn't care about the locals, the area or the region. Who didn't care about the Indigenous either. It then became locals supporting locals, they knew that people didn't care about them. Its important when you go into those places to support the locals, who live there. If the locals are supported they are happier, it makes for a happier experience for those that visit and don't live there, if its a good experience then you remember it. Its about having respect and regard for the people and the area. That area is important, its not just about the town, its also important to the indigenous. There is also no problem with spending a day there, you could spend days there and still have a holiday....you just need to learn how to spend it. Its not hard to spend time there.
I might be wrong on this but of all the places you have gone, it seems to me it looks like Australia might be just the right spot to settle for the two of you.
Hey Linda, That is something we have thought too although getting a retirement visa there would be a challenge. But we definitely plan to spend a lot more time in Oz over the years. Best regards, Neil & Sarah
We have similar Aussie hats. Ours are vented. Flatten them in the suitcase and throw it on when you get to your destination. Great hats and had them for years. We Also visited Nimbin years ago. Thought we were hippie types until going there and realized we weren’t that hippie-ish after all. Did you notice the rehab center at the edge of town?
Nimbin is more set up for backpackers and grey nomads. It definitely is not Disneyland although if you consume the local product it may feel like that 😂❤
