Fatalis doesn't even need to flaps its wings to stay up there during all this. All it's doing is just unfold them and let the recoil and the heat air from the blast to stay up there.

How about teostra not flapping his wings for the entirety of his supernova animation (same with lunastra's supernova and alatreon's escaton not having then have to flap their wings at all to fly up and hover a bit in the air to start their supernova, they just spirals upwards). Not flapping wings during flying is often just used to make them look cooler while doing the attack, because flared out wings look cool

Notice how his fire is actually white and also *stops the fucking rain.* The amount of heat neede for fire to burn white is around 1300°C which is over 2400 farenheit. *Over an entire castle.* Just for comparison, steel melts at around 1200°C/2200 f. *OVER AN ENTIRE CASTLE.* Let that sink in.
Around half an hour ago while doing the special assignment, I wingdraked back to the fight just as Fatalis started his second nova, and everyone else made it behind the gate. I just stayed there hanging and watched as he unleashed hell on the entire place.
This really effectively demonstrates how Fatalis is a civilization destroyer. Because, like, how could one monster end an entire civilization? This is how. Fatalis does this once, an entire district of a city is ash, and the surrounding ones are an unquenchable firestorm. And based on the frequency that it novas during a fight, one can assume it can do this every fifteen minutes or so. Even being more conservative and saying once an hour, that entire city is leveled in a single night. Assuming it takes a few days to find and travel to each city, thats an entire empire's economic and cultural core, along with the majority of its population, obliterated within the space of a few weeks. Let this thing run amok for six months, and the few remaining survivors are definitively reset to the stone age.
Given that the timing of Fatalis's novas is based on how much damage you deal, all five of them can theoretically happen in just 10 minutes, maybe even less if you hunt it fast enough. It's entirely possible that those steel-melting, city-busting cones of flame are essentially just breathing exercises for Fatalis, and that the actual downtime between novas can be as low as 10-20 seconds of catching its breath.

I love how nobody in the comment section points out that the place where we fight Fatalis is in fact, raining. And by the time when Fatalis unleashing its Erasing Fire attack, the rain that is occupying the place suddenly stopped at 0:10 The only explainable reason behind this is that the attack simply contains too much heat within it being released to the surrounding environment that it capable of stopping the rain downpour that is happening. Mind you, this Erasing Fire attack of Fatalis is only performed when the thing is not even using its "final phase flame that burns pale with extremely high temprature" (paraphrasing Fatalis final phase flame info tidbit from Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Divebook). Now, imagine a Fatalis' Erasing Fire nova attack using its pale purple flame breath on the same scale as showcased in this video. That would be simply just overkill. The only thing which prevents Fatalis from doing such killer move, is because the players simply don't have the place to hide from Fatalis's 3rd and so on Erasing Fire anymore. Thus the Devs have to made Fatalis to firing its Nova inside the arena so the players can run underneath it to avoid the attack, unlike the 1st and 2nd Erasing Fire attacks where Fatalis fires it outside of the arena.

Plot. Ever wonders why we never see NPC getting killed on screen despite being a running franchise for so long? That's why. Heck, if you watched Monster Hunter short movie featuring Aiden during his younger days, you can see the scene where a hunter wearing Deviljho armor is burned to crisp by Lunastra's fire breath. And Lunastra isn't even the strongest fire breathing Elder Dragon.
All of the other monsters in the monster Hunter franchise are part of the environment, one way or another. Fatalis isn't. Fatalis is just destruction and wrath embodied, like the western dragons he's based on, and this attack shows that raw brutal fury in action.
I have a little theory on that. As you said, every creature in the MH World serves as a cog in the machine of nature. However, there is one more creature whose role is clear, but never mentioned. Humans. Their function in this world is hunting down monsters that grow out of control. That's what hunters do. Prevent the dragons' power to go unchecked. Now, who prevents the power that humans possess to go unchecked in turn? Who regulates that? My theory is, Fatalis. He attacked the Kingdom of Schrade, one of the greatest Kingdoms in the MH world. Why? Did they grow too powerful? Too arrogant, maybe? And yet, he doesn't move from there, why is that? If he were to be just a force of destruction, why doesn't he bring said destruction elsewhere too? My hypothesis is that Fatalis is the dragon designed to keep humanity in check. He's the hunter of us hunters, when we grow too powerful.

fatalis would melt the rocks of zoras back with his breath attack just like he melts a meter thick steel gate within seconds. hes the strongest black dragon for a reason after all.

I like how he flaps his wing to create the greater combustion at the end, adding abbundance of air to create more fire, cool detail imo.
And, as another comment pointed out, when he creates the bigger fireball all rains stops falling and evaporates due to the heat.
