Wow! Most comprehensive discussion ever on the 6.7. As a machinist, it all makes perfect sense. Thank you so much for the info. Currently driving a 2002 7.3L w/ 411,000 miles on it, well maintained, I know I will need a new truck eventually hence the interest in your channel , again, thanks.

I think there are multiple problems with the early rocker arms. I'm working on a 2014 with 200k miles. The rocker arms have worn out the pedestal grooves and slowly went sideways and fell off the valve. One came off and blew up the lifter and the cam lobe, the other 3 are 1/2 way off. Happens on the longer arms only, maybe more leverage. There's not enough surface contact in the groove in the early version pedestal and it wears out. It didn't fall out from low oil pressure, it fell out from wear and sideways slop. It could also be worn out oil causing wear. Hopefully the updated rocker fixes this problem.

Amazing video and super informative. I was following along closely the entire video but I never found your answer to the oil/spun main problem. What weight oil is NOW recommended for my 15' driven in the deep south year around?

I have always run 5w-40 Rotella T6 w/ 2x bottles of ZDDP additive (my truck has been lightened) , currently at 245k miles OCI @ 5k

The lifter failures I have seen had spun lifters with no damage to the lifter bearing. Do you have any insight on that?
