Final Fantasy IV Pixel Remaster (PC) - Final Boss and Ending

Time to beat the angstiest boy in the universe.
Zeromus' fight is divided in about 3 phases. The first one, when he's the big blue tentacle thing, is completely invincible to everything you do; you need to use the Crystal Golbez gives Cecil during the cutscene, to then progress to phase 2 where the fight actually starts.
Zeromus will not do anything special for several turns in phase 1, but you can't take advantage of it by applying buffs on your party because Time Distortion will erase them all. You can however wait for everyone's ATB to fill up.
In phase 2, Zeromus can do a bunch of stuff, but most notably is that he'll counter Black and White magic spells with Flare, which hurts. Zeromus can also counter summons with Bio on all party members, which is weak but the HP sap effect is annoying. Also, every time he shakes, it means he's preparing his big spell Big Bang, which deals A TON of damage if you don't know what you are doing. Sometimes he'll also cast Black Hole to remove all of your buffs, so don't bother buffing yourself too much - Haste tend to be enough.The trick to make Big Bang more palatable is to cast a Black magic spell right after Zeromus shakes - that will cut down his magic attack, making it so Big Bang deals a more manageable amount of damage. This version makes this easier because you can just leave Rydia at full ATB waiting for him to shake, then cast Flare which goes off instantly to intercept it. He'll still counter with Flare, but you can easily patch that up with Rosa.
Final phase, Zeromus will heal himself to full, and then will add Meteor to his repertoire of attacks. Nothing else really changes here.
My strategy is: taking off Cecil's Crystal Armor means he can be berserked by a Bacchus Wine/Berserk spell, which will boost his ATB speed slightly and his damage. After using the Crystal you can just leave Cecil be attacking over and over until he's dispelled, when you can just cast it again. Kain can just keep jumping over and over. Edge can use his Masamune to haste my characters, and also throw shurikens on the boss (you can also throw your sealed weapons on him, but I think it's a waste). Rosa remains on standby in case anybody needs healing, and Rydia is just ready to counter Big Bang whenever Zeromus shakes. Easy peasy.
