Ohmy. Talk abt bitter sweet story! Bless u all for getting him back to nature, bless u Fani for being his companion. Frustrated by so many yrs in confinement, grateful Romeo did get his chance to bask in nature. Good grief, it must have been truly amazing for him ❤🕊️
😭 Oh no! I am SO sad to hear that Romeo has passed. 😢😢 💔 He was such a majestic fellow. I was fortunate enough to visit him at Samboja Lestari on two occasions and have some wonderful footage of him using a bucket to take a bath on a very hot day, as well as some amazing photos and precious memories. My heart goes out to Wiwik and the other staff at Samboja - Romeo will be greatly missed. 💔🙏😔 Also amazing to see my beautiful girl Fani there with her spectacular hair❣️
@@shadowgirl8038 I wish it weren’t true, but sadly our gorgeous boy Romeo has died. 💔😓 Thanks to BOS, he had some wonderful years on the jungle island with his best girls Fani and Isti. 🥹❤️
@ready2tube Romeo had been ill for most of his life with Hepatitis but he did reach 38, which is within the average orangutan life expectancy range of 35-40 years. Initial findings suggest heart failure but the BOS will be conducting further tests to confirm.
The fact that hes been isolated and caged for 25 years for a natural occurring virus thats not contagious is more than heart breaking. You ruined his life.
You put him in a cage for 25 years when he could have been and should have been free then you release him and he doesn’t survive!?! What the heck!😢 Let’s not forget that the same organization that many of us has supported and watched as they’ve released handfuls of these majestic relatives of ours, is the same organization that keeps many of them in cages for years -needlessly!! Wildlife are supposed to be wild and free to live out their entire lives in their natural habitat. They don’t need to be taught how to live free, they just are.
@Iris_Transforms_Healing It was necessary to keep Romeo at the main centre in order to monitor his health. He was constantly looked after by a superb team of vets and kept stimulated, this is in contrast to his time in Taiwan when he was younger where he was not treated properly. Romeo had Hepatitis B, which is an infectious disease. Thanks to humans, Romeo lived in captivity his whole life prior to his time with the BOS so didn't know how to survive in the wild, something that he should have learned from time in the trees with his Mum! This, coupled with his disease meant that it simply would have been impossible for him to survive long term in the wild and other orangutans could have been infected with the illness.
Rip Romeo. I'm so sorry we, as humans, were so cruel to you. Thank you to humans who helped him to touch the ground 😢

@@stephanieb7311 About 6-7 years. Romeo did reach the average life expectancy for orangutans, 35-40 years old, as he was 38 when he passed.

How long was he able to live on the island before he passed?
Approx 6-7 years
All those years spent in a cage for nothing? How sad. At least he got to taste a little freedom on his island.😢
