Man, I can't wait to see how much further a Dark Souls veteran like Jacob can get in another 2 hours after doing basically half the game in the first stream!
Jacob horse mostly just sits in the crack between my mattress and the wall as a decorative thing that stops stuff falling down there but last night i was having period cramps while asleep and woke up curled around Jacob horse lol. Was also using him to elevate my ankle when i broke it two months ago. A surprisingly useful horse.
@@dragonwithamonocle It's gonna get worse before it gets better (🥲) but enjoy your Jacob horse! I've also brought him to a medieval themed party as my steed so he also makes a great party guest~

Dark Souls became one of my comfort games thanks to him and Julia. I hope he does take us back to it again at some point (maybe on a different run), but until then I'll be looking forward for next stream

Realistically, though, it is so fun and incredible to see Jacob play this game exactly like Julia. Meaning he will not take his own advice and adapt his playstyle/kit to suit the bosses he is fighting. He is madly determined to just beat it exactly how he wants, and will not budge. 10/10 content.
After watching Julia's playthroughs where she just decimated everyone almost first try, and Jacob's time-honed well-practiced fights... It's really nice to see some really relatable good old-fashioned "Doormamu I've Come to Bargain" bash-your-head-against-the-wall dark souls. I got to see all the phases of hitting a wall boss that I've gone through, in DS, Elden Ring, AND ALSO Armored Core 6. And like, I know how stressful this is when it happens, and I really relate to it, but it also made me feel really seen and validated that these fights ARE really hard and even well-seasoned pros can struggle with them sometimes. It just sets a more realistic standard and I appreciate that.
This is for no one but *Clasping buff hands meme with "Jacob" in one side and "soyapoya" on the other, and in the middle it says "using the overhead attack that's very narrow and missing their attacks, on a weapon that's known for having really good sweeping attacks with incredible range that would've definitely hit on every occasion that the other attack missed"
But I definitely get Jacob, I've played the game up to o&s so many times cuz I just get bored with what's after that I just start from the beginning, so it feels like the boss I should know best, but sometimes stuff's just not clicking
@@bagandbroad I'd just watched the music video last night a bunch of times (the dancing is so satisfying). It's the reason I clicked on the video haha.
Without hashing out the specifics, "in" and "on" can kinda seem weird in their usage if you step back because both of them have a bunch of largely unrelated ways in which they can be applied, so sometimes they will overlap and you could use either for the same thing...and other times they don't and you can't. Most folks think about them both primarily as relational prepositions - ie the parts of their definitions that talk about the physical relationship between objects "in a box" "on a box" - but there's also a ton of usage cases that are abstract - ie "in love" or "on time." So sometimes a usage case might *seem* like it's referring to the physical relationship between objects, but the reason for using one of these might have more to do with the abstract applications. So a cat can be "on a lap" because it's physically located on a lap, but a can can also be "in a lap," because they are within the abstract concept of "a lap." To give an easier to grok set of examples, someone can be "in a seat" because "seat" is a more abstract noun describing the function of something, but "on a seat" feels worse to say, though it still works as long as you think of a seat as a specific concrete object. Meanwhile an object can be "on a chair" but you have to personify the object for it to sound okay for it to be "in a chair." Anyway, my goal isn't to fully expand on the nuances at play here, mostly to show that there's often a lot of implied context even when using either option technically works, and that it's pretty common for native english speakers to never think about these implications, but use them appropriately anyway haha. That's why one or the other might sound fine but slightly weird in some contexts, sometimes one or the other might just sound completely wrong, and why there can even be disagreements between individuals on which to use for a scenario, because ultimately it's all those extra bits that are being argued over, even if neither person really realizes where the disagreement lies. So, Julia might be "on a line" because she and other Long Islanders view lines as a physical thing, and so they are "on" that physical manifestation of the line. But most other Americans would think more of a line as an abstract concept, so being "in a line" makes more sense, since those people are participating in the function of being lined up. Do I know for sure this is where the divide lies for this instance? No, but it's at least a plausible explanation that would track for why there might be this type of divide. A long islander can weigh in if they know more about how they're viewing lines haha.

I literally binged all of “Julia Souls” since the last VOD, since it finally piqued my curiosity. Had to finish the playlist before watching this VOD so I knew what’s what! EDIT: I’m more than halfway through the VOD. Oh…
regarding the aphantasia topic, as someone who only recently realized that i have aphantasia, i have been able to develop decent artistic skills haha despite it. of course i always tried to understand why my art journey felt harder than my friends, but i never let it hinder me from pursuing art. i think it's true that people often self-limit more than others limit them. if you love doing something, you will find ways to do it regardless of how difficult it is!
I do no relate to Jacob's decision not to win during this stream, but I know that Julia relates to it, so it was at least nice seeing him with a creature who understands his decision.
I know they don't really keep up with previously played games, but anyone know if either Jacob or Julia have expressed any interest in returning to Core Keeper?? 1.0 came out a bit ago and I think itd be a pretty fun co-op experience with their friend group, or just the two of them
The Drawtectives trailer made me think of something Jacob said in, I think, regards to Black Sad? And he said something like, "Julia wants her stories to be always at nighttime, always be raining and everybody to be sad."
I agree with Jacob that Ultra Smough is easier to handle than Ultra Ornstein (and the devs too, considering you get an extra ring by doing them in that order). I barely could handle Smough with lightning and a bonus agility, but Ornstein hitting like a whole freight train? Fogetaboutit!
For that one person in chat askin for a webtoon rec on fantasy non-romance I cannot explain to you how good "Eleceed" is, so just please read it, the person behind Noblesse is one of the main people behind it and the characters are just so well written, I sincerely love it cuz it really suprised me with how everything goes story wise and how characters evolve as we go. Important note: its "feel good vibes" not just some battle non-stop stuff, it really focuses on the characters. Also Skylark is by my friend and genuenly a fun read about two borthers having an adventure, the style is also very western so if you don't like stuff being too anime you might like it :)
As someone with aphantasia who was always "good" at art growing up (and also supremely frustrated by it) i do feel like my art has been affected by it. But not in a really bad way. Mainly i just absolutely cannot draw anything without a reference. From memory challenges are my worst nightmare. However, I've always been really good at realism as long as i have a stack of good references to work from. You can totally be an artist with aphantasia but i could never be the type of artists that the drawfee crew are.
@secretsleepoversociety RE: Todd being a sturdy boi, i need yall to know that the first round of Jacob horse is firm, but subsequent horses have much squishier. filling changed.
Its good to hear them talking about aphantasia like this. Especially when Jacob says "Its not relevant". I have it and it makes recall and like, remembering details harder. SO I JUST KEEP REFERENCES AND DO STUDIES ON SHAPES ETC. The difficulty level just goes up exactly as Julia says. Rubberross has openly talked about his aphantasia and hes so good at art! The only thing keepin you from doing art is yourself. Thats it. Thank yall for being so adamantly supportive and encouraging.
Dagnabbit, I love a self imposed challenge; but seeing Jacob run with only five estus, a dress, and a farming implement, and then berate himself for not being good enough for not acing the gruesome twosome is kind of heartbreaking. Either do a super-challenge run OR expect to ace everything, don´t do both!
for the drawtectives series i really think it could benefit from individually made & kinda humorous thumbnails that hint more at the content!! cause i feel like the "episode 4" with a character is alright but someone who doesnt know drawtectives yet might not have as much incentive to click as if there was some reference to a silly joke or something that happens in the ep that they can see and be drawn in by 😊
“Expedited shipping Jacob Horse” implies that the person who ordered it had an urgent need for the horse. Either they were overcome with a feeling of intense and immediate need for the serpentine equine plush or their life has arranged itself into an event in which they urgently needed it for a specific purpose. Whatever the case, it’s funny to think about the kind of life this person is experiencing. 🤔😂
Hearing the mention of Lunchables ... I think I read something about excessive Lead content in them? Based on California standards, with the problem of some States lack a proper legal definition of max allowed heavy metal levels? Thats all I know, i'm in NZ and the (school?) ready-meal market is different.
I have a really strong ability to picture stuff in my mind and manipulate it but I can't draw worth a damn. Its really frustrating when I can visualize what I want a pencil or paint brush to do in my mind and then my hand cannot do what my mind wants it too b/c of poor fine motor skills :(
( they wouldn’t be doing any more ISAT…. Would they? I don’t want to sound complainy but I like that game a lot and think it needs more attention and all streams are good from these blorbos. Thank you)
No, they‘re not continuing it on stream. It’s longer than they realized at the start. Also Jacob mentioned he has a hard time streaming rpg games like that because of the amount of focus they require from him
@@timiminer I love the game but I don't know how well it would work on stream when they play once a week. Part of the feel is to make it feel like it's dragging and getting too repetitive in a slightly maddening way and obsessing over small details. Not the best choice for the channel format. Everyone should play it though because it rules!
How you guys speak about aphantasia definitely says to me that you don't have it for sure. I get that you have met professional artist who have, and that's great for them. But you're talking like that means it doesn't make any difference to anyone. Which seems a little close minded and kind of bums me out a bit. It absolutely affects my ability to sort out poses or composition. I just can't get it without some kind of reference. I can't just think of a pose or where to put subjects, I have to research. I might eventually get the same kind of results as an artist of similar skill level, but it takes me so much longer. It definitely affects my other favorite artforms too. I used to read a lot when I was a kid. But as I grew up it became harder and harder to get into the types of stories I like because it was all just words and ideas. I somehow still run and play in ttrpgs, in spite of this, but I don't not get the same things out of it others get. It still stings a little when something happens and someone in the game says something like "That's awesome imagery" or That was cinematic a f" or even things like "That image is stuck in my head" because I feel like I'm missing out.
Also, just pointing this out but Julia did say she thought she had aphantasia in a previous stream. My brain is telling me it was during Teardown. I'm not sure if that's correct.
I don't have time to watch this rn but I will play it silently in another window so ya'll get the view and watch time retention. I'm watch a drawfee vod instead.
i have a thought/answer re Julia's drawtectives question and i want to share in case it's helpful but also. i am so reluctant to offer criticism in this context lmao. Julia if you read this please know that you're doing SO MUCH and SO WELL. please hear me on that even if you disagree with everything else i ever say. okay here's my thought. i'm gonna keep addressing it direct to julia because that's how it's clearest in my head, it's gonna sound weird and parasocial but whatever ig the way you're talking about this, the way you're describing problem-solving it and sorta trying to figure out what "works" about it and then min-maxing for that, and the way i keep hearing you bring up CR and D20-i kinda wonder if that mindset is pointing you in the wrong direction? both of those groups were playing RPGs just as friends, off-camera, *before* they ever started filming it. both Matt Mercer and Brennan Lee Mulligan have been DMing rpgs for fun since they were little kids for fun. [side note that the GM is by far the heaviest lift on these projects so the fact that you're figuring that shit out and you're also a fuckin art one-man department is CRAZY you're so fuckin powerful.] i think fandom really gravitates to the feeling that we're being let into this friend group, like we're all just the little sibling being allowed to sit and listen to our cool big sibling and their friends play d&d in the basement. and i wonder if making this series such an intense project, trying so hard to *make* it work, has a little bit undercut that comfort-media vibe? idk, obviously not every show has to be comfort media, but at least for me when i have been most engaged in the CR and D20 fandoms that's what i was getting out of it. like. idk, but i get that comfort-media, parasocial-little-sibling vibe when i watch main drawfee. I've fallen down this rabbit hole the same way i did with CR a few years ago. all that to say, if you feel like there's a secret sauce missing. maybe turn off the mics or whatever and play some rpgs for fun together. give it a real try, like use different game systems, give everyone a turn GMing and/or try a couple no-GM systems. (i feel like a gm-less system could be a really good fit for yall if you found one you liked.) if you can, play the same game for at least like 5 sessions, within like a month if at all possible. (video calls make that way easier.) try to get *into* it. completely forget about turning it into content if you have to. and if you do get to the point where you're having a kick-ass time, and you're excited for every session, and you're really invested in the characters you're sharing and you want to keep telling their stories and learning each other's stories,,, then maybe think ab turning the mics back on? i would be really fuckin hype to hear it. ummmm ok that's all i hope i said this in a way that is clear and helpful and kind. and if i didn't then i hope you never read it ok byeee
It's THE most relatable thing, Julia saying she wants drawtectives to be the best it can be when she could literally half-ass it and it would still be amazing/better than the average person's whole-ass effort. I've had friends tell me the same thing abt any high-effort art I'm doing cause the perfectionism is baddd. I both have to remind myself of it constantly, and I'll never fully get over it, the obsession with detail is too strong Also comparing drawtectives to shows that have entire film crews and production teams 😭😭😭 pls drawtectives is literally so amazing, I enjoy it so much bc of Julia's creativity in crafting the world and the story, and the team's humor as they play in it, it couldn't be done by anyone else and I wouldn't have it any other way ❤
Julia I need you to know, as soon as I saw the drawtective trailer was dropping I messaged my friend and we screamed at each other in dms for like an hour because we were so excited about it. We love it so much. It's so good.
I want Julia to know that (as a long time critical role fan who runs in mostly d&d fan art circles online) I knew about Drawtectives and the characters long before I was especially familiar with Drawfee itself, the reach of that show definitely makes an impression outside of the regular Drawfee audience and it's always obvious how beloved it is from the way people talk about the show and make fan art for it

Jacob I’ve never laughed harder the most in-tune Ornstein and Smough. Cranked difficulty
regarding the aphantasia topic, as someone who only recently realized that i have aphantasia, i have been able to develop decent artistic skills haha despite it. of course i always tried to understand why my art journey felt harder than my friends, but i never let it hinder me from pursuing art. i think it's true that people often self-limit more than others limit them.
if you love doing something, you will find ways to do it regardless of how difficult it is!
I got my SSS beanie and I love it, always wanted one from you two 😂
I do no relate to Jacob's decision not to win during this stream, but I know that Julia relates to it, so it was at least nice seeing him with a creature who understands his decision.
Jacob, they're SO beatable
Smeaux heard you talking shit about his final form
3 chapters of a webcomic in one sitting? No wonder July’s is in pain by the end.
I absolutely loved watching this live 😂
incredible thumbnail, ty
I really miss Drawga. I understand why it's more of a relic but it was so good and it gets no love
Smough heard Jacob talking shit right at the beginning and said "Hold my flask"
I know they don't really keep up with previously played games, but anyone know if either Jacob or Julia have expressed any interest in returning to Core Keeper??
1.0 came out a bit ago and I think itd be a pretty fun co-op experience with their friend group, or just the two of them
The Drawtectives trailer made me think of something Jacob said in, I think, regards to Black Sad? And he said something like, "Julia wants her stories to be always at nighttime, always be raining and everybody to be sad."
This fight solidified my love for fromsoftware
Waiting for the next stream, two more hours of this, please.
"I just can't believe it's 2024 and I'm stuck on Ornstein and Smough" lmao
If only there was a game mechanic that would help with the fact I keep running out of Estus flasks!
As someone who has also had to stream on schedule while not being in the best headspace, I absolutely get it.
julia: would you love me if i was a wormzard?
Loving the new album on spotify! I've listened to Baseball Bat so many times!
I love marionetta!!! (1:34:30) I also started reading schoolbus graveyard cause my friend likes it it’s great too :)
talk about kid cuisines started and i instantly was like 'that brownie, though'
This makes me feel better compared to last stream where jacob plowed through what took me 30 hours to do in a single stream
Last time Jacob was reaping. Now he is weeping.
@secretsleepoversociety RE: Todd being a sturdy boi, i need yall to know that the first round of Jacob horse is firm, but subsequent horses have much squishier. filling changed.
This just reminds me of myself right now fighting watcher knights for 4+ hours after already beating Hollow Knight 😭
Excited to see my Culinary Asswars joke get revised in the next VOD lmao
Taking a sip of beer just before "twink obliterated" was unfortunate
37:15 May I suggest Channelling an Emrakul, the Aeons Torn in that case?
I'll always take a Jacob comic recommendation
I love the Dark Souls streams 🥹
I'm early! haha 40 seconds, that's pure magic
I feel like Jacob really channeled the undertale today, just DETERMINATION.
This is the best thumbnail I've ever seen
Its good to hear them talking about aphantasia like this. Especially when Jacob says "Its not relevant". I have it and it makes recall and like, remembering details harder. SO I JUST KEEP REFERENCES AND DO STUDIES ON SHAPES ETC. The difficulty level just goes up exactly as Julia says. Rubberross has openly talked about his aphantasia and hes so good at art! The only thing keepin you from doing art is yourself. Thats it. Thank yall for being so adamantly supportive and encouraging.
I'm sorry for your loss.
Sad Chad in this outfit and with the scythe look like the grim reaper from the sims games
What an amaizing thumbnail
Dagnabbit, I love a self imposed challenge; but seeing Jacob run with only five estus, a dress, and a farming implement, and then berate himself for not being good enough for not acing the gruesome twosome is kind of heartbreaking. Either do a super-challenge run OR expect to ace everything, don´t do both!
Julia: The Todd... Owner
Me: The 'Towner'
Jacob: The 'Towner'
Me: ... I sure watch a lot of Drawfee and SSS huh? I'm okay with this.
Jacob truly had a crisis in this one, didn't he
Julia is right, Jesse and James never give up.
Hello Yammers!!
amazing thumbnail
Julia accidentally calling her husband of 2 years James is so funny
Cartoon hell is still on dropout I believe
for the drawtectives series i really think it could benefit from individually made & kinda humorous thumbnails that hint more at the content!! cause i feel like the "episode 4" with a character is alright but someone who doesnt know drawtectives yet might not have as much incentive to click as if there was some reference to a silly joke or something that happens in the ep that they can see and be drawn in by 😊
like i think the main drawfee channel videos and this channel really slay thumbnails !!
sad chad might be the grim reaper

Hearing the mention of Lunchables ... I think I read something about excessive Lead content in them? Based on California standards, with the problem of some States lack a proper legal definition of max allowed heavy metal levels? Thats all I know, i'm in NZ and the (school?) ready-meal market is different.
I have a really strong ability to picture stuff in my mind and manipulate it but I can't draw worth a damn. Its really frustrating when I can visualize what I want a pencil or paint brush to do in my mind and then my hand cannot do what my mind wants it too b/c of poor fine motor skills :(
After the joyful previous stream this is a nice reminder that I am not a gamer and I don’t want to play dark souls.
( they wouldn’t be doing any more ISAT…. Would they? I don’t want to sound complainy but I like that game a lot and think it needs more attention and all streams are good from these blorbos. Thank you)
No, they‘re not continuing it on stream.
It’s longer than they realized at the start. Also Jacob mentioned he has a hard time streaming rpg games like that because of the amount of focus they require from him
But I do agree, it’s a great game that‘s deserving of all the attention it can get!
@@timiminer darn… well never mind
❤❤❤❤❤
Tbf Jacob is doing far better against these lads than I ever would. (I couldn't even make it ten minutes in Bloodborne)
I don't have time to watch this rn but I will play it silently in another window so ya'll get the view and watch time retention. I'm watch a drawfee vod instead.
Wow, Jacob's almost as good as Julia was on her first playthrough!
i have a thought/answer re Julia's drawtectives question and i want to share in case it's helpful but also. i am so reluctant to offer criticism in this context lmao. Julia if you read this please know that you're doing SO MUCH and SO WELL. please hear me on that even if you disagree with everything else i ever say. okay here's my thought. i'm gonna keep addressing it direct to julia because that's how it's clearest in my head, it's gonna sound weird and parasocial but whatever ig
the way you're talking about this, the way you're describing problem-solving it and sorta trying to figure out what "works" about it and then min-maxing for that, and the way i keep hearing you bring up CR and D20-i kinda wonder if that mindset is pointing you in the wrong direction? both of those groups were playing RPGs just as friends, off-camera, *before* they ever started filming it. both Matt Mercer and Brennan Lee Mulligan have been DMing rpgs for fun since they were little kids for fun.
I both have to remind myself of it constantly, and I'll never fully get over it, the obsession with detail is too strong
Also comparing drawtectives to shows that have entire film crews and production teams 😭😭😭 pls drawtectives is literally so amazing, I enjoy it so much bc of Julia's creativity in crafting the world and the story, and the team's humor as they play in it, it couldn't be done by anyone else and I wouldn't have it any other way ❤
Julia I need you to know, as soon as I saw the drawtective trailer was dropping I messaged my friend and we screamed at each other in dms for like an hour because we were so excited about it.
