I love the line "who will pay the price, the lost or the damned". Just such a great line to just sit and reflect on.
To me the song is all about the fine line between sides and who gets caught up in the middle of the conflict. People are quick to assume themselves the "heroes' or label others as "villains" but often there's very little real difference between the two. In the end their all just regular people with their own hopes, dreams, and fears but conditioned to seek out a black and white solution driving them into conflict. Then there's also has the line "Heroes and villains by chance, heroes and villains by choice, all in one voice" signifying how these similar people are cast in those roles both by their choices and the choices of others forced upon them. This isn't to say there aren't true heroes and villains, there obviously are, but too often many get caught up and dragged along with them for better or worse. Like how someone gives the slightest comment on a subject and someone from the other side immediately takes it to the extreme shoving all sorts of words in their mouth or tacking some label on them to try to justify their own stance in response, and both sides do it it's never cleanly one or the other. Which all comes back to that initial line I mentioned.
'Who will pay the price, the lost or the dammned"
The people who end up suffering aren't the actual heroes or villains. It's all the people get caught up and dragged along into the conflict whether they wanted to or not and those who bear the brunt of where that conflict leads.

Marko really said "Does anyone want a falsetto here?" and then didn't wait for an answer. It's brilliant.
Yesterday I was thinking "Huh Recky hasn't done a Poets reaction in a while" and boom there you are. Great timing!

Thanks for this video! I've been a Poets fan for a long time. Ghostlight may be their very best yet, in my opinion. If you love Marko's voice, I think there is more head voice/falsetto on this album than on any of their other albums. I love this album, may be supplanting Jealous Gods as my favorite. Sounds of Yesterday, Heroes and Villains, Lust for Life, Weaver of Dreams, Hello Cabaret, Beyond the Horizon -- all showcase Marko's fantastic high voice. Hello Cabaret also has a great guitar solo by Olli. I can't say what is my absolute favorite Poets song, but on this album, I'm leaning toward Hello Cabaret because it has the three elements I most look for: Marko's voice, Marko's lyrics, Olli's solo.

@@Reckyj BTW, maybe someone has already made this point here, but when Marko sings "We're heroes and villains by CHANCE, heroes and villains by CHOICE, it reminds me of a quote from Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, Act II Scene 5: "Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them."

You ever heard "keep your hands to yourself" by Georgia satellites?
You dont have to react to it, but watch the music video. You'll probably get a little laugh. The early 90s were oddly cool, sometimes.

Recky have you ever reacted to a band called JINJER? They are a band from Ukraine.
I’ve got to tell you, they are nothing like Poets of the fall. But I think you will be amazed if you watch their video PISCES.

The songs in this album are all pretty slow. Nothing ever really blows up. But because of that, the hooks aren't too powerful. There isn't much power at all, really.
