According to the wiki, the road overall goes west, and the sunset goes due west. The best way to find it again would be to criss cross south-west and north-west to catch up fuether forward. You have probably just been driving pretty far east while you were lost 😅
0:19 the sponges were both out thats why you couldnt wipe the blood off the dash dingus.(Lol) If you are using the sponge and see no bubbles, then it ran out. Hope this helps.

Also they have a layer on one side that will go brown from use and then completely vanish. The same with the wire brush.
