Great video. I bought the 3400 some time ago following your video primarily because of room perfect. For RP to give perfect bass you need to place the speakers against the wall when running the program otherwise it works but not as well. Most speakers don’t perform best against a wall. I have now moved my set up to a room with better acoustics and I added treatments. Getting better sound and soundstage now without roomperfect turned on with my speakers spaced from the front wall. You didn’t mention the built in crossover which is what’s really making me keep this unit. The crossover will integrate two subs perfectly whether or not you are using roomperfect. Also for those considering this I learned it’s not possible to run this as a preamp with a power amp and subs. The pre outs are such that you have to choose full range for a power amp or crossover settings for a sub. Lyngdorf confirmed this. Further the amp design prohibits connecting speaker outputs to a powered sub using high level inputs. It will fry the Lyngdorf. Love your videos Thomas!
Hi Patrick, I hope you see this. I was interested in your comment "Also for those considering this I learned it’s not possible to run this as a preamp with a power amp and subs." I am seriously considering buying the 3400 to use as a preamp/room processor for my Dynaudio active speakers and a new sub. I would therefore want to use Room Perfect on the RCA and XLR outputs, with a high pass signal on one (for the Dynaudio actives) and a low pass signal on the other (for the sub). Are you saying that won't be possible? My understanding was that you can configure each output individually and even switch off the speaker output stage. I was also going to use the digital output to feed an external headphone DAC/amp as I've read that the on-board headphone output is pretty average. As you're an experienced 3400 user I would love your thoughts on all this.
All room correction systems except RoomPerfect will change your speakers to match a pre-determined target curve. This means your speakers don’t sound the way they should. RoomPerfect is unique in creating a target curve based on the sound of your speakers. It is the only system that preserves the characteristics of your speakers while removing room errors, however its set up process is completely different to all other systems and must be followed correctly.
Hahaha love the video Thomas, Room perfect style software is definitely the future, lots of people don’t have the option to fix their room or add treatments.

I've been using DEQX for years, which implements room correction and frequency/ phase corrects each individual driver. It's a game changer. This looks like a tidy solution for a simpler system.
@@ThomasAndStereo I think that it would be perfect for you. You can match each amp to its respective driver and power it directly as the XO is at line level. The increase in dynamics is big. With phase correction, even a large floorstander "disappears". You owe it to yourself to try! :-)
@i-mm-o res I use an HDP-3, which is their first model. No preamp, just inserts between your pre and amps (preferred by me). It would be ideal to have an external top-of-the line 6 channel DAC, but the internal DAC is very good. I replaced all the output caps with film type.
I understand it doesn't fit with the Scandinavian aesthetic, but I really wished this unit had a nice colour display to show current song and album art. Preferably with touch transport controls like on the NAD M10. That would've made it almost perfect.
I used to own a DEQX and sold it. While it was really good of room correction, in the end it always had a digital edge that I couldn't enjoy. Back to analogue.
I'm hoping that the great reviews I'm hearing about Room Perfect are real because I'm really considering buying the McIntosh MEN220 room correction to add to my current McIntosh MA12000 integrated amp and Warfedale Elysium 4 speakers. The equalizer on the McIntosh MA12000 really helps tweak otherwise poorly recorded songs, but I can only imagine what Room Perfect will bring to the table.
Well, you have to be careful. Cause it might reduce your bass and for some people, it is not as satisfying. If you have an AVR and it comes with room correction, try it. So, it will optimize the sound from an 'audiophile' point of view but it might be not be the 'fun' sound you are enjoying.
It gets confusing. But I did buy the Wharfedale Elysian 4 based on your in depth review and I'm very happy. It's a great speaker especially at that price point, wow! Hey how can I email you? I just finished my new music room here in Canada. I love your show and would like a review lol
Enjoyed this video. DSP is indispensable for my set up now. I hope that Trinnov will send you their Amethyst preamp with 3D mic to you for review. It will do DSP correction, not just frequency level but phase. I use mine purely for digital processing between my source (streamer) and dac.
@@ThomasAndStereo I have emailed Trinnov to request a loaner for you. I am not affiliated to Trinnov but I love the Amethyst. More people should get to know about it.
Thank you. This was really cool review of this amp in comparison to other reviews I’ve seen. I am listening in small room between 60-65db. I’m all for neutral and detailed sound. Would this amplifier be a good match with KEF R3 Meta?
Those with wifi may not know why some of us need usb input because we stream from cell phone signal, not wifi. To a good dac it sounds way better than bluetooth.
2:57 I think lyngdorf is better known in the home theater market than it is in Hi-Fi. I've definitely heard of them, but I'm really into home theater systems.
Hi. First of all, great channel. What is your opinion on matching this with the LS 50 Metas? This amp is true to the source, and as far as I know the Metas is also very «clean» sounding and true to the source. In that regards I will get an «unfiltered» sound from whathever source I use…
I also watched a video where they suggest to use web interface for the setup, and the guy in the video was very surprised how the sound opened up after switching off some limiters or filters under the audio or output setup menu
Hey, I already own a Naim Uniti Atom, but have problems with boomy bass at certain frequencies with my Piega Classic 5.0 speakers. This looks like it could easily fill the shoes of the Naim but would the room correction be likely to help those bass problems and provide a benefit over the Naim?
Hey, i have owned Atom for a bit, paired it with many speakers. In my experience the boomy bass hapenned with some speakers when naim was struggling with power. With more sensitive speakers no issue.
I recently got to compare the 1120 with the 2170 which got discontinued but is still being sold off. The 2170 has neither streaming nor the app included but sounds clearly better than the 1120. The 1120 was not bad, but sounded more "class d" (less full, highs not as nice) compared to the 2170.
Hi Thomas! I’ve already bought this device, and I’m looking for the proper floorstanding speaker into my 21 m² room.I would like to have a big soundstage, and a good dynamic also dotWhich speakers would you offer for me about the price range of the Q acoustic concept 50dot? For the response thank you very much in advance!
Hi Thomas. Interesting your thoughts about RoomPerfect. Maybe you can review some stand alone DSP corrector in the future?. I want to trying it myself, but I would like a device that makes all in the digital domain, but I only have found devices with analog outputs.
i have the minidsp shd studio, that is all digital. and the shd power is similar to the lyngdorf if you want that. i can recommend the studio, but i also like to see more audiophile channels do video about it.
Fantastic bit of kit. Just a shame that it doesn't have a bit more power. Very strange having to have the volume dial cranked all the way up. Will possibly be adding the 2400 power amp later but that will mean goodbye to the REL.
@@ThomasAndStereo No Thomas not with the Lyngdorf as it will probably cause issues. You have to go in the line connections hence either a sub or power amp. More than likely done to steer you towards the 3400 but my pockets won't stretch that far with the added connections needed.
Thomas, Good find on the Ling. They are a interesting product I have considered. Since you mention enjoying the opportunity to present previously unknown products, I direct you to contact Fredrik Lejonklou, owner of Lejonklou. Dude can make his stuff has enough.
Hello Thomas! Wonderful review. I’m form kolkata and watch your reviews with much enthusiasm. I had a question please: I’m getting the new B&W 805 D4 when it comes out. Between the Lyngdorf TDAI 3400 and the NIAM Uniti Nova, which would you suggest as a better match? Do the TDAI Series produce a balanced but slightly ‘Sterile’ sound, as I’ve heard a few reviewers note? I’m unable to audition these unfortunately so your suggestions will help immensely.
Sure, it is not for everyone but it would be helpful if you can elaborate a bit on it so other people who might have similar setup might benefit from your experience. Afterall, audio is a question of taste and synergy.
Hello Thomas, I always see in your video that you adopts a pair of Qacoustics concept 500, are you satisphied with those? I'm asking because I'm buying them without the possibility to ear.. I will paring them with tube amplifier Manley Stingrey. Thanks in advance!
ruclips.net/video/2CKey_opnmE/видео.html The concept 500 are not cheap and I don't recommending buying a speaker that expensive and not audition it. It depends what kind of speaker you like. If you said kEF, FOCAL and Monitor audio, I would recommend try something else.
@@ThomasAndStereo, Thanks for replying. I mean they will work fine with the tube amplifier or they needs tons of watts? Perhaps I will have the possibility to ear the stand mount version (300) on next sathurday🌞 in order to have a complete vision.
Hey Thomas, I like your videos! I'd love your input on which of the following would provide the better sound in your opinion: a purist amp like the Exposure 2510, Roksan K3 or Rega Elicit R etc. coupled with the Node as a source and the option to get a good DAC like the Denafrips AresII in the future OR the Lyngdorf? (with the Wharfedale Lintons). Your feedback would be much appreciated. Thank you!
I wish to test the said Lyngdorf first hand with my Mozart string quartet collection. If it sounds more realistic than my current rig, I'll buy it. Sadly, virtually all of the amp based room correction schemes I've tried recently have that graphic eq signaure tone that I've abandoned (disliked) since the early 1990s due to relatively affordable SET tube amps and solid state amps tuned to sound like SET tube amps.
Well SET sound is really unique. You have that linear midrange that you don't find in class AB or D. So if that is the kind of sound you are looking for, wait for my upcoming Set tube videos.
Hi !! Lyngdorf or Cambridge Evo 150 for better sound quality? I don't know how much 2 * 60watt is enough for Kef r5 speaker! Or what do you recommend? Thank You
@@ThomasAndStereo Thank you!!! What can you recommend in a category like this? What other alternatives are there? Thank you !! Or is Lyngdorf enough for room correction?
interesting product, i had that one in mind, but it was to big of a unit, i was hoping it was half U unit. On a side note, how about a Minidsp shd studio and Nad C268 power amp combo at same price as the lyngdorf. To me that seems like a more flexible system, and smaller main using and the power amp can be place more hidden, think the dsp is more flexible also, and more inputs like usb. the minidso also require dac's since its completely digital, but any cheap used one would to for starters. I am really curious how good the minidsp shd studio is as a preamp as the only audiophile review i seen is The Hans Beekhuyzen Channel.
My question is are all DSP equal? I would love to compare Roomperfect against MiniDsp. As I mentioned, one measures the power response while the other frequency response. (I am assuming that) So if that is the case, the result can be really different which I am very curious.
@@ThomasAndStereo i agree, its all interesting with dsp implementation. i have not used mic assisted dsp, or presets. For now i have gone deep into the software and did it all manually by ear. maybe only minidsp lets you do that, volume per frequency is one thing, but alo time delay and crossover slopes matter.
@@ThomasAndStereo This is the comparison the people want to see. Everyone's room is imperfect and room correction will be used more and more in the future in my opinion.
For Kanta 2, you would be looking at the Tdai3400. Just keep in mind there is a difference between class ab and digital amp sound and it depends on your taste.
Great review, Thomas. I was looking at this unit the other day as a DAC, streamer, and room correction solution. I have two questions: 1) Did you by chance try bypassing the amp and powering it with say a class A tube amp? 2) Does the use of RoomPerfect require the amplifier? If I bypass it can I still utilize that feature?
Yes, I tried an external amp and noticed I did not need to use an external DAC. I asked them about it and this is what they said " The pre -outs on the TDAI-1120 are analogue - see them as an alternative to the speakers outputs. The 1120 also has an AD in it for the phono stage to accept MM cartridges. Thus the pure digital configuration is only in play when you are using the on-board amplification of the Lyngdorf products. If you use the pre outs to go to another amplifier then yes, you can still engage the room perfect to calibrate the system."
Epic intro, love it 😂👍 Do you think this amp would be able to handle a set of quite picky Linn Akurate 242 mk.I speakers? (Sensitivity: 87dB/W/m) Or can it be used as pre-amp only? (edit: sorry, you already mentioned in your video that it has a pre-out👍) I have some relatively annoying room acoustic challenges, so it would be very good if they could be handled well by introducing a unit like this, even 'only' as pre-amp with a room correction..
You can use it as a room correction / DAC unit with your own power amp if you find it unable to drive your speakers. Ideally, I like to see it driving over 90db efficient speakers but some people have reported success with less efficient speakers. Remember to go listen first and don't buy blind because this is a digital amp and you have to be sure you like the sound.
I have one running Kan 2s which are a similar sort of efficiency and reputably difficult to drive and they sound better than they did powered by Naim NAP 180, particularly the bass using Room Perfect. Not familiar with these speakers but given the number of inputs they appear to have perhaps you could do something clever using the Lyngdorf speaker output for the mid to high frequency and use a power amp for the bottom end and treat them like stereo subs? Just a thought!
I decided to buy Dali rubicon 6 black edition, together with Naim uniti atom. But now after this review I have dilemma. Is anyone known which amplifier will work better with these speakers?
Why do Hi-End stereo gear from the Danish seem to be hip on building as much of "everything" into one device? Or maybe I've just been inundated with recent examples from Dynaudio, and DALI, to now this...
Just different target audience. For people who live in places with limited space, this is a perfect solutions. For me who live in a house in Canada, the size is not important to me at all.
Nice review as always anyway. When using 1120 as a preamp, do you still get all thingy like voicing and / or RP at preamp out for example? How does 3400 sound compared to Anthem STR integrated? Thanks.
3:30 I dread the day the wife asks if they also carry wife stuff at that “magical website where everything is eerily $50 bucks, used, and of impeccable resale value”.
I owned the TDAI-2170, a great amp. To my ears the Dirac Live room correction is better than the Room perfect system. (I own a miniDSP now) The combination with the LRS speakers was not a great combination, to lean and dry to me..

That would be cool if they reach out to me like Lyngdorf one day.
👍👍👍. MISSON ACCOMPLISHED …THOMAS 🤗😍😍😍
😁😁😁
I’m looking for an excuse to buy anything with RoomPerfect! They need to put it in a DAC
I got one but it’s discontinued in the meantime. Lyngdorf DPA-1.
In Denmark we have some of the best sound in music 🎉
I also watched a video where they suggest to use web interface for the setup, and the guy in the video was very surprised how the sound opened up after switching off some limiters or filters under the audio or output setup menu
Yeah, there are many settings to play with. Great for people who are tech savvy.
Maybe go get some bass trap.
Hey, i have owned Atom for a bit, paired it with many speakers. In my experience the boomy bass hapenned with some speakers when naim was struggling with power. With more sensitive speakers no issue.
Nad has also digital amplifier’s for example the M32
Great video. I think you sold me lol
Any thoughts on how the phono stage performs? Interested in comparisons between this and the Cambridge Audio EVO 150. Thoughts?
2299.00 Thomas is the man! My upgrades to my sports car lol
Hello! Please tell me how to connect lyngdorf tdai 1120 via DAC and tube amplifier for roomperfect ? in what order ?
Yeah, great idea.
DSPeaker does digital out.
Running mine into Denafrips Ares2 as an experiment. Nos is lovely!
Fantastic bit of kit. Just a shame that it doesn't have a bit more power. Very strange having to have the volume dial cranked all the way up. Will possibly be adding the 2400 power amp later but that will mean goodbye to the REL.
you can use highlevel input from the speaker terminals to the REL sub?
@@ThomasAndStereo No Thomas not with the Lyngdorf as it will probably cause issues. You have to go in the line connections hence either a sub or power amp. More than likely done to steer you towards the 3400 but my pockets won't stretch that far with the added connections needed.
Thomas, Good find on the Ling. They are a interesting product I have considered. Since you mention enjoying the opportunity
to present previously unknown products, I direct you to contact Fredrik Lejonklou, owner of Lejonklou. Dude can make his stuff has enough.
I thought that I was done with outboard headphone amps. I am getting rid of 2 integrated amps with no headphone feature!
Hello! Please tell me , can I use it as a streamer dac with room correction with my own speakers and amplifier
I sold mine right away
Sure, it is not for everyone but it would be helpful if you can elaborate a bit on it so other people who might have similar setup might benefit from your experience. Afterall, audio is a question of taste and synergy.
Hello Thomas, I always see in your video that you adopts a pair of Qacoustics concept 500, are you satisphied with those? I'm asking because I'm buying them without the possibility to ear.. I will paring them with tube amplifier Manley Stingrey. Thanks in advance!
ruclips.net/video/2CKey_opnmE/видео.html
The concept 500 are not cheap and I don't recommending buying a speaker that expensive and not audition it.
Thank you!
Sorry, I have never listen to any of those so I would not know how it compares.
Hi Thomas. Have you had the opportunity to compare this to a NAD M10? I saw there are a few used ones for sale in CAM right now.
No I have not but that looks like a good all in one solution.
Hi, what if want to use this room perfect but still want to use a class a integrated amp like pass lab Int-60?,
I wish to test the said Lyngdorf first hand with my Mozart string quartet collection.
Fun intro. Maybe Zero will get some pointers 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hi !! Lyngdorf or Cambridge Evo 150 for better sound quality? I don't know how much 2 * 60watt is enough for Kef r5 speaker! Or what do you recommend?
Thank You
Sorry, never heard the evo
@@ThomasAndStereo Thank you!!!
What can you recommend in a category like this? What other alternatives are there? Thank you !! Or is Lyngdorf enough for room correction?
Thanks for the review Thomas. Have you also considered reviewing Abyssound, YBA, Accuphase?
I was supposed to review Accuphase but waiting for them to get stock. It seems like it is all sold out in Canada.
@@ThomasAndStereo Okay. I think you will also like the YBA a100 and YBA passion 350 sound. But I don't know if they can demo stuff in Canada.
Does it fit the polk audio reserve 200 speakers?
interesting product, i had that one in mind, but it was to big of a unit, i was hoping it was half U unit.
😂😂😂what a fantastic intro!
Will it work with kanta2 ? Or Hegel H390 is still better choice for kanta2 ?
For Kanta 2, you would be looking at the Tdai3400. Just keep in mind there is a difference between class ab and digital amp sound and it depends on your taste.
Hi. What is most important for improving sound quality: 1) Amplifier, 2) Speakers, or 3) room correction capable amplifier like the TDAI.
Can we connect a CD player? Does it have a dac the lyndorf?
Yes. No DAC but you don't need a DAC with a digital amp.
Great review, Thomas. I was looking at this unit the other day as a DAC, streamer, and room correction solution. I have two questions:
1) Did you by chance try bypassing the amp and powering it with say a class A tube amp?
@@ThomasAndStereo Oh wow. That's awesome. I'm seriously considering it now. Thanks, Thomas!
Nice review. Doesn't tick enough boxes tho.
Epic intro, love it 😂👍
Do you think this amp would be able to handle a set of quite picky Linn Akurate 242 mk.I speakers? (Sensitivity: 87dB/W/m)
Or can it be used as pre-amp only? (edit: sorry, you already mentioned in your video that it has a pre-out👍)
I have some relatively annoying room acoustic challenges, so it would be very good if they could be handled well by introducing a unit like this, even 'only' as pre-amp with a room correction..
Sorry I have no idea since I never tried the Atom.
@@ThomasAndStereo no problem at all. Thanks for your response.
Did you try SoundID by Sonarworks before? Best room correction ive tried
No I have not but I am definitely interested to try other room correction solutions.
Mr Tan are you Singaporean or Malaysian?
Dad is from Malaysia. Born in England, studied at Malaysia for 3 years and Singapore for 3 years.
Are those Avalon's? Nice!
Silverline Sonata.
Still haven’t tried any Technics.
Get me one~! You have the some right?
I didn't know the demo song was that slow😅
Anyone who has this - is it worth upgrade from NAD M10? I have NAD M10 and using it with Dynaduio Evoke 20 bookshelf.
Has anyone paired a power amp with the lyngdorf? currently thinking about this to “improve sound”. ;)
so lucky
how do you connect this to a laptop?
Anyone tried this amp with the kef ls50 meta, how do they match?
Do you and Mr Kanta listen to similar music? Or are you EDM and Drum n Bass, he's all lute recitals?
We listen to all kind except maybe Rap and EDM.
@@ThomasAndStereo try Blackalicious and Underworld. Or leave it to Darko. Serious point, did the source, i.e. the music itself determine your views?
Danke!
Thanks a million!😁
I owned the TDAI-2170, a great amp.
To my ears the Dirac Live room correction is better than the Room perfect system. (I own a miniDSP now)
The combination with the LRS speakers was not a great combination, to lean and dry to me..
I think muscle class AB amps works better with those kind of speakers.
Does 1120 support DSD?
No
