awesome footage guys!!!, i had so much fun fishing with you guys, i honestly didn’t think i would come across my favorite youtubers, i hope to see you guys next year, the fishing is still really good in Valdez at the moment!! It’s like a final school came into the harbor i’ve never seen this before but at least 200 silvers were swimming back and forth and my friends and i nailed the crap out of them, we pulled 29 silvers out of the habor all sight snagging. the weather has been awesome, sun shining and the waters clear so these silvers are so easy to spot and snag😁

@@MFSergiu I'm not from there but here in Australia it tends to be a per person limit and as they said that they were with "friends" while catching the 29 I would say they were well under the limit per person. Of course that also depends on how many "friends" were there

Hi Ariel and Eric! I was noticing that when you guys are hooked into fish, you have very different styles when landing them. Eric uses his pole and has it roughly perpendicular to the fish so the fish is fighting the flex of the rod which is the preferred method for landing a fish. That way there is less strain on the line and the knot where the hook(s) is tied on. Ariel, you tend to point the end of your rod straight at the fish so you are fighting the pull with your muscles and the limited strength of the line and the knot used to tie the hook. If you keep your rod tip up or sideways to the fish, the fish will also be fighting the flex of the rod and will tire more quickly and be less likely to break the line and/or knot. Just a thought.

I just found yall today. You were pickling eggs. Years ago I canned every day after my two jobs and on the weekends. I hit a yard sale and bought a car load of canning jars for thirteen dollars. There were lids and rings too. I was elated. Once I got home I got a phone call from my coworker. She and her man fish, hunt, glean, trap and grow a garden and have fruit trees. They also took me bear hunting. I got a bear that year. They butchered him and made sausage. In trade I baked, made jams jellies and chow chows. She makes pickles. We traded all the time. Now I'm disabled. I broke my back. She has Parkinson. We don't do much any more but your show brought back great memories. Vikki and I worked together in special education preschool for 25 years. Thank you so much for showing the salmon. Vikki and Ron also fish, smoke and can their fish. When I get my jars of fish I like to make smoked salmon dip with cream cheese and sour cream. Onion is very good in it but you can add whatever you like in yours.

Thank You for the Red Heart That means a lot to me. Considering you drive a lot I'm going to tell you about a device that plugs into your OBD2 port. It's called Eco-Tune Performance Chip Tuning Box. It will give you much better gas mileage Just follow the directions. Now if your check engine light comes on just fix what ir says. I did and had to replace an air filter. I use to get 25 miles to the gallon but now I'm getting 34 miles to the gallon. Highway and 30 around town. You have a 4 x4 and should get 25. highway. It really does work and 100% legal. Once again Thank You so much for all the delightful and educational videos

Loved the video! Brought back so many great memories of growing up and spending much of the 70’s with my grandparents who lived in Kenai. I could walk to the Kenai River from the house and caught some decent Reds and Silvers. The only King I got to hit my Pixie spoon was the one that pulled me in and got away. Thank God I was in a shallow spot and didn’t drown-that’s a powerful river that’s claimed many lives. The store in Soldotna used to display the largest King salmon caught that season in their freezer. It was usually 65-75 pounds. Our neighbors had a huge smokehouse with rows and rows of long strips of salmon drying until cured enough to bring inside and store in brown paper bags. Between the salmon they smoked and froze and the moose they bagged every fall, they never had to buy meat and I think they had some chickens too.
My grandfather was a plumber and owned his own company so he didn’t have time to do much hunting or fishing. He took me and my kid sister fishing a few times and taught me how to ride a snow machine. They did have a pretty big garden and a greenhouse but bought most of their own meat. I went back up for a while in the mid eighties but I didn’t stay long. I wish I could go back now as a young man with no physical handicaps. Unfortunately, I’m about 30 years too late. Anyway, I enjoy watching y’all have fun and living the Alaskan dream. Keep making those videos and enjoying the life. God bless you and acknowledge Him in all things; keep Him in first in your life and you can’t go wrong.

You folks just keep getting better and better with every family outing. The filming, contrasts , colors and content. Alaska is missing out hiring you 2 as state spokesman!!! Very nice your "new" fishing sister gave some lures , line and advice. That is what older folks do . Passing on knowledge and kindness. The chickens , dogs and kitty will have some full bellies this winter :) haha. The filming camera quality is the best ever !!! The drone footage is breathtaking, and the editing, feels like an eagle is sharing its moments in flight :) I appreciate your sharing and caring for the land, what nature provides and your soulful stewardship. Plus, how you treat and support each other. Being human , honest and cohesive. A rarity worth its own video, really. The skills you both continue to choose to acquire and polish, very cool. Next is getting the boat ready for winter retirement and truck , trailer , 6 wheeler and snow mobile winter maintenance / readiness . oh and the firewood, drats ! Farm life is a continuous rotating list of joyful priorities, mixed in with some darn fun. Kind of wish you folks would consider a steel mesh left hand filet glove. But that is just a Murphy visit away. Safety first is pretty low cost. Not that stitches and stories aren't sexy. Keep having fun and sharing. :)

I know you were trying to figure out ways to preserve the celery that didn't take up all your canning jars, if you save the leaves and dry them you can use them as a dry herb, and it really does add a lot of celery flavor to soups and spice mixes.

I went to Alaska in 2000. My buddy and I rented a truck and camper for 10 days. We drove all over. It was the 3rd week in July. We went to Valdez and the pinks were running. We used pink pixies spoons and were catching on every cast!!! No B.S! We caught probably 300 fish in 2 days and got tired of catching the same kind and drove on. FYI pink pixies spoons for the pink salmon run in july!!!
Mahalo for you channel! I'm retired in Hawaii now no more cold for me. Lived in Colorado before here.

@Downhill Nut We had one state in particular that seemed to have drastic covid cases while the rest of Australia kept it at bay. Victoria got thumped with lockdowns... but the rest of us lived pretty normally and I was travelling Australia. One state in Australia also doesn't have covid at all, and is closed off from Australia and the world... its pretty ridiculous... but imagine living without any covid impacts at all.. even if for a while. but look, I have 8 weeks of lockdown in 2 years and I am in NSW which has dropped restrictions, and we are open to the world. I did read the articles coming out via news and joe rogan podcasts and they made it out Luke it was militarised enforcement which was a lies. Our military was helping with distribution of supplies etc. We essentially had very low numbers and death rates, high Vax country situation. media is the devil ain't it...
