Thank you for posting this! John singer sargent is one of my favourite artists, its an amazing way to learn how someone would go about drawing this painting ☺️
Beautifully done. Love your explanation of how and why you are blocking the subject in at the start of the drawing. Love your channel and your drawings are exquisite.
thanks! 💯 ! aaand you’ve caught me out - I love an long exposed lead but I’m also very lazy and impatient when it comes to hand sharpening pencils 😂 luckily I find the blackwing sharpener is good enough for me to give me enough of a range that I can make do. generals charcoal pencils though - they definitely get the reluctant hand sharpening treatment.

How do you preserve these graphite drawings in the sketchbook? Do you spray a fixative on it or something else?
I use a fixative spray - a few layers. it works pretty well to keep things in place!
@@katiemaeveart which fixative spray? Thanks.
@@rachelturgeon114 it’s the Windsor and Newton artists transparent fixative spray.
Great. Suggest sharpening your pencils to a loooooong point as per atelier standards. So much more control, tone and subtlety is gained.

it’s the Pixlr app 😄 It’s in the description - under materials
Which size of moleskine are you using in the vídeo? Love your art btw!
it's the art sketchbook - 13 x 21 cm. And thank you! :)
@@katiemaeveart thanks 😊
I am new to your channel 💜 . Did you go to art school.or are you self taught?
welcome! no I didn’t go to art school - I’m self taught (as much as I can say that as I’ve done a bunch of workshops, online courses etc 😄)
