What I always loved about George is that he actually thought about "okay, what is the culture of this planet?" like, he thought about how the aliens in Kamino would travel from one place to another, he thought about what is the culture in Mustafar. His ideas and worldbuilding are amazing, his scripts not so much (and I love the prequels) but I just love how committed he is to making sense of the galaxy,

George Lucas is a story and world building guy, no doubt. His dialogue is his weakness and that is why his best idea was to bring on Larry Kasdan to cowrite.

[Anakin Skywalker] Yeah I loved the prequels more than the sequels as well, but that doesn’t really matter rn. The sequels made money since they’re Star Wars and wether we like it or not even “disappointing” SW movies will make a ton of money. I’m honestly fine with this as it keeps the brand alive. And personally I don’t exactly hate the sequels. Sure I would’ve preferred George Lucas’ sequel trilogy, but we got what we got and there’s no way to revert that so it’s best to just find some good in it.
Anyway, we got The Mandalorian and Clone Wars S7 and hopefully the Obi-Wan show doesn’t suffer from cancellation. From rumors we’re supposedly getting a Knights of the Old Republic remake game to basically get the KOTOR stuff in canon. Hopefully they’ll keep the same spirit from the og games. Also a rumored High Republic era series of movies which will be 400 years before the Skywalker Saga. When Yoda is a younger Jedi and Darth Bane is around and creates the “Rule of Two” I really hope we’re getting this stuff as it sounds like it could change the SW movies in an amazing way.

I'm not a complete prequel hater, but I can't stand the prequel fights. They carry no emotional weight or tension. That's more important than the fighting itself. The fights are also over choreographed and felt unnatural. They look cool, but they are lifeless. I absolutely hate the episode 3 battle, especially when they start climbing around. It's so over the top. Episode 1 had a decent fight, especially when Qui-Gon dies because it gains that sense of urgency, but the rest of the movie hurts it. The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi are by far the best saber battles. IMO.

The Film Effect that's not true. The first one holds weight because it's a young Obi Wan and his master and the first of a Sith Lord in a 1000 years. Episode 2 is just a beginning to the clone wars and episode 3 is what predates the new hope fight. It may not be much, but it's what predates the fights before the 4th, 5th and 6th films. Also, ROTJ is the best. Luke using his rage and declaring himself a Jedi, was the just the beginning.

Yeah and if you think about it, they're the same people who didn't like the prequel trilogy because it wasn't like the originals and now they're hating on it because it's like the originals.

I've just finished watching the star wars prequels and for the first time ever could see how extraordinarily brilliant they are. George Lucas is a man of incomparable vision and there is an astonishingly extraordinary amount of beauty and depth, texture and nuance - a great visionary brilliance in the prequel trilogy. George's storytelling/mythmaking and worldbuiding is absolutely incredible. There is so much truth and profundity in those films, and he absolutely pushed the envelope and raised the bar from the original trilogy. He should have stayed the path, not sold his creation, and created something new again with the sequel trilogy. It is our great loss. If you don't see the beauty, vision and wisdom of the prequels, that's okay too. May the force be with you. 🎯

Despite - or perhaps because - I was a boy then, the film itself was an experience without equal in my life. And to this day, despite knowing of the weaker aspects of the movie, "Revenge of the Sith" is my favorite of the six episodes and actually the most favorite film of my life:
the story, the characters, the music, the worldbuilding, the sound effects of everything from igniting of a lightsaber to the pressurizing of Vader's helmet - and just the mythical scale of events...

Episode III was actually an amazing film in it's own right, even when viewed as a stand-alone movie, on it's own, outside of the Star Wars saga... I actually feel that it was very under-appreciated. But just look at the story-line, the character development, the locations, the dialogue, the effects and the soundtrack... ALL top-notch! It's definately my favourite of the Star Wars "prequels" (as they've come to be known), but as I said, I find it an absolutely ASTOUNDING piece of cinema, even when viewed as a singular, stand-alone movie, but, having said that, another of it's AMAZING qualities is how it ties into the other Star Wars movies. It fits seamlessly into the universe created by Lucas, and one of the stongest instances of this in my opinion is the character development of established and much-loved characters from the franchise, particularly the story of the single most interesting character in the entire saga (in my opinion) Anakin Skywalker! Anyone who hasn't viewed "Revenge of the Sith" yet (for whatever strange and unbelievable reason) you are in for a SERIOUS treat! One of the most polished and well-constructed pieces of cinema of our generation. Much respect and love from Davey, a HUGE life-long Star Wars nut from the island of Éire/Ireland, (where filming for Episode VII "The Force Awakens" (The "Luke" scene) and the upcoming Episode VIII took place) :)

I kinda get why people disliked the Phantom Menace, it just felt like a comedy at times and didn’t really gave that feel the original movies had. There was just too much going on at some point… however in Revenge of the Sith it just all ties in very exactly and feels like a true missing part to the Saga and made it feel more complete .

There. That proves it. Much as the prequels are filled to the brim with CG, there's plenty of practical FX and models to go around too.

If people wonder why episode III is the best of all the star wars movies, it is because George had learned with the past 5 movies how to make a successful star wars movie. Basically, it was his last masterpiece.

Bradley Whitehead I don´t understand your question, I´m afraid. 30 years after ROTJ, and the galaxy still looks basically the same?? That is just so lazy and convenient, and doesnt make any sense. The prequels showed us the beauty of the galaxy that the rebels were fighting to restore, and any episode 7 should have given us at least some sense of prosperity and accomplishment. Even with the rise of the first order it is not that the rebels didn´t win, isn´t it?

HEY GUYS HEY GUYS!! I have a good idea, listen... what if we change the tie fighters colors instead of Gray/Black, to Black/Gray? JJ Abrams: OMG!!! You are in bro!!

"Yeah. And make Yoda orange instead of green, and this time he will be female and only know about the force, not use it. And let´s have another cute little droid, but this time it´ll have spherical shape. And fans definetely want a new mask wearing villain in black robes, who uses a voice synthesizer, betrayed the Jedi order and has Daddy issues. And another old, super-bad emperor dude with a scarred face! And let´s make Luke female! And most importantly, let´s give C-3PO a red arm!! That´s so original, fans will completely freak out!!"

If you notice, there's a clear difference in styles. Between Disney Star Wars and Lucas Star Wars. This is very detailed and a solid, functional documentary. We get offices, papers, logistics and so on. Down to the nitty gritty. They're not trying to convince you that they're good. It's not propaganda.
You look at the behind the scenes for the new Star Wars films, it's all about "the magic" and the "feeling". No real insight into the production. I feel like this reflects the quality and end result in each film. Disney is trying to convince you. Lucas shows you.

This doc really is a major reason I'm a Prequel Defender™ and for Episode III in particular. They make it so clear how much effort went into it and how much every little thing meant to George Lucas. It's also just a really cool comprehensive look into the filmmaking process!

I love the prequels wholeheartedly, especially Revenge of the Sith, which is one of my favourite films, even the parts in this film that are noticeably cheesy are extremely entertaining and funny to me.
The prequels are either fantastic or just hilarious during scenes with some poorly written dialogue, I challenge you to name a film series that possesses more quoted lines 😂

I love watching this type of stuff. It helps me appreciate a movie more learning the whole process, what it took and how much effort for the production of the whole movie instead of just falling into the hate that people gave to the prequels. I still think the best movie crew I have ever seen is the LOTR cause of just how comfortable everyone was with each other and were literally like family but these people are the same as well since they have worked with the same people for the the prequels.

Really educational docu. So much goes into these things--there's a host of similar BTS vids from things like LOTR that show all the work, time, people invested. But, this one really has a cool approach that hits full force using the branching personnel maps to show everyone and their jobs. Fantastic! It's also amazing to note the old fashion computers, monitors, cameras, etc., really showing how George has always been at the forefront of tech development and used or created so much of the early gear that pushed the boundaries of everything we see today.

In 1997 Lucas came into see the movie 'Volcano' at my work - now I know why, but I sold him a ticket and the dude is hella short, so no one recognized him, but me and my friend, I could see him anticipating, begging me not to out him, and I could see his visible relief when instead of saying 'Enjoy the Film Mr. Lucas' I said 'Enjoy the Film' - I could see he appreciated it, *you owe me one George...* I was working at the Cinema theatre in Corte Madera. ILM used this theatre sometimes. I got to speak to the actual 2 people responsible for Jabba the Hutt in the Ep.IV 'Special Edition' - They looked so shocked when I told them I didn't think it looked good or real; I said that it looked like someone just pasted it on the screen, like a colorform. You could tell they hadn't heard the other side... Interesting to not they re-did it 3 times after...
