This is a 5 minute video that anyone facilitating a meeting should watch. Great outline of the facilitation skills that make for great meetings. I've been in many failed meetings that were just a waste of time. I especially liked the skill to go over action items at the end of the meeting and ensure that responsibility and due date are assigned and understood. This really propels a project forward with purpose!
No one wants to be in a meeting that goes no where. Having a clear objective from the start and following these facilitation skills and techniques will have your meetings running smoothly and with purpose. Thanks for watching, cheers!
1. Be prepared (subject, objective, things needed for meeting, time allocation) 2. Detailed agenda (objectives & agenda). Send max 2 days prior to meeting. 3. Set ground rules 4. Involve everyone 5. Stay on time (be a time keeper) 6. Action items (responsibility & due date)
I absolutely agree. It's so easy for meetings to get off track which is why I like to use the parking lot for topics that require discussion at a later date. Thanks for watching, cheers!
That's fantastic! It really makes meeting move along with proper flow and makes them far more productive if you have great facilitation skills. Thanks for watching, cheers!
Thank you., today I had my first Facilitator experience. It was targeted at 1 hour 25 minutes but it stretched out to two hours. After 3/4 of the group left it continued for another hour. I truly appreciate your advice and know hopefully I will be able to find your link and get my timing in order.
Sometimes these things happen and it is through doing and then making notes on how to change things up for the next time that will help with your timing. It's all about experience and know that you've got this! Thanks for watching, cheers!

Very clear video. Do you have any tips about paraphrasing during workshops? Often what people are trying to communicate is not very clear, or they may not be great public speakers, so the facilitator should help by paraphrasing and confirming what is being expressed.
Thanks for watching. I don’t have a separate video just on that topic but my latest upload does address this skill and gives an example. Check out ‘Meeting Facilitation Skills ( favourite facilitation techniques). Cheers.
Absolutely! It's amazing how much time and productivity is wasted when a meeting isn't facilitated properly. Having an objective is the first step and yes, if you don't have one then there is no point in a meeting. Thanks for watching, cheers!
