Wow, cool video, great review of this classic. Glad to have found this underrated channel! The sequel deserves a video too. It removes most of the features from the merging system but makes up for it with a combat system of unparalleled depth. This series was really ahead of its time.
This game was an absolute trip, I didn't even know there was a sequel to this... I would love to see more games in that Studio Ghibli style, so nostalgic it almost hurts.
I still cant get over the fact that this was basically Studio Ghiblis first attempt at a video game. Not only that, but it was one of the only games with native voice acting in my country. Most games just had English or Japanese voices, but not Jade Cocoon.
I imagine it was probably a pain in the ass to localize with so many voice actors too... I bet this game would benefit with a remake or a new port with an updated script since some of it seems a bit blunt to put it lightly.

Always heard the cover image is of a level 99 Paimel, since the divine beasts expand as they level up, but due to nonsensical choices made regarding the levelling system, it is impossible to exceed level 52 without hacking
