  • Dödsrit hail from Sweden but it's not entirely Swedish line-up. This band also recently (that is, spring 2021) released a good new album (review coming up...) so let's talk to one of the guys in the band and see what's up with this good band.

Excellent sound quality on this interview. I love his take on the split between punk and metal, as this was also my experience being a metalhead “tourist” in the punk/hardcore scene. I think the primary cause for the split is mainly the current political climate and the growing desire to grandstand/ soap box lecture/ virtue-signal with ones opinions (right or left) which is easier to do now more than ever because of the internet. I think the fact that death metal has somewhat avoided flirting with moral/ political issues and has largely stuck with death worship and gore is one reason it’s avoided this confrontation. Anytime you address moral or political systems, it’s opening a can of worms which both punk and black metal do so aggressively. The internet is the magnifying glass. - Diogenes

Thanks! And yes, this is what happens. DM bands may even feel awkward if you ask them about politics. I can relate to that.

I listened to their "Shallow Graves" and this track is absolutely mind blowing! Cannot wait to discover their other tracks.

Good interview. Thank you, Rauta! Please, consider to interview Martyrdöd. Great Sweden band! And consider to listen "Vazio", a Brazilian Black Metal Band.

Thanks, Frank. I am always up for interviews, but not all bands are up for doing video interviews, esp. not face-to-face.

It’s such a pity you have to interview like this at the moment I much prefer the sat down at a table or face each other in the flesh approach .I think people give better answers when they’re facing each other .I’ve recently just listened to mortal coil and wasn’t overly impressed I must say.I guess I’m a traditionalist when it comes to blackmetal. If it’s not high pitched screamed or the gravelly rasps of nocturnal culto type vocals then I turn off quite quickly. Not a big fan of punky shouted vocals in blackmetal.Darkthrone has ruined their sound by adopting the punk style vocal.I think dodsrit lack memorable riffs to be honest and their songs are overly long.

Interviews: yes. I prefer face to face definitely. They should be possible in a couple of months.
This album is a grower for me. First I was a bit like you, but more spins and it became really good. My review won't be out until July though as it's all scheduled until then.

@@RautaMetalyeah I should give it a few more listens I suppose. It’s rare that I change my mind though after a first listen especially where blackmetal is concerned.I think I’ve mentioned before to you my disliking for de mysteriis Dom sathanas even after probably 50 listens.Enthroned are a band I learned to love after many repeated listens. You can miss their beautiful melodic guitars under the blasting drums .
