- As much as I loved the extended balcony scene, there's one thing that keeps pissing me off; Oliver Stone had removed one of my favourite parts in the entire film! WTF, man?! D:
So here's the Final Cut version of the balcony scene with the Theatrical Cut at the end - just as it should have been!
Was indecisive for a while on which version to use for when Hephaistion talks of the generals, but I settled for the Final Cut there. That's the only change between the different versions (other than one being obviously shorter than the other, lol).
(And I never noticed before that when Alexander asks Hephaistion if he thinks him weak or divine, that the Final Cut shows barely a second of Hephaistion looking into Alexander's eyes; while in the Theatrical Version it goes directly to when he looks down... lol, such useful information, huh? xD)
Might remove this later from RUclips, so be sure to check it out on VEOH as well!!
www.veoh.com/vi...
(Extended version, from when Hephaistion enters Alexander's room. Used the Theatrical Cut there as Stone showed Bagoas when Alexander and Hephaistion reads Olympias' letter in the Final Cut. I hate Bagoas.)
.
I've been looking for the clip of when Jared talks about Colin's eyes. It's cut out of almost every version. Finally found it. Thanks!
"I've missed you,I need you!It is you I love Hephaistion...no other"
My gosh I love this scene!!!
Thank you so much for uploading the entire balcony scene! Like everyone else who left comments, it's my favourite part of the entire movie. Nobody but Jared Leto, with his expressive eyes, could have played Hephaestion. The love between Alexander and Hephaestion was so inspiring.
Psylocke83..thank you for the upload. This is my favourite scene in the entire movie. A communion of intellect and emotions between Alexander and Hephaestion. So honest, pure and so moving with a distinct undercurrent of physical longing for each other. A declaration of love not only between the two of them but between them and all those who believe in it's power.
me too it encompasses the both of them so true
Thank you so much for putting the versions together!!
They are so wonderful together...I would have loved for the movie to have more of those sweet Alexander/Hephaestion moments (come on, Oliver Stone, would that really have been so difficult?) and LESS of Bagoas!
Hey ! Thanks for this amazing scene of the balcony ! Probably one of my favorite
Almost everyone say that the « head cocked […] stupid as a school boy » scene is delete everywhere, not in the french version BUT we don’t have the « if i’m patroclus i die first… » and « turning back and conquer the opposite » scenes which is pretty frustating 😂 so i’m Glad to scene these scenes here (even if i don’t have the pleasure to see that in french too)
I love this scene. He and Colin look so good and their chemistry is beautiful, i will never forget this.
Jared is so gorgeous.
THANK YOU for posting this! It's been so cut up that in earlier versions I was wondering why Hephaistion was making certain faces or moves, it seemed odd, but now it all makes sense! Whoever edited this for the original release was CRAP at it!
If you are a fan of Alexander his sculptor, Lysippus (campaign photographer of sorts) sculpted him from actions he saw in battle. Many surviving sculptures of Alex have the cocked head. he was truly the "first" man of the west.
THANK YOU FOR THIS I AM CRYING OMG
me too!
as i know, there is only one version of alexander released in germany... so thank you sooo much for combining 2 of the versions with each other and for uploading it =)!
i love that scene... please don`t remove it, it`s really great. i can`t stop watching it again and again...
...True Love♥
When I first watch this I was tripping thinking I must be drunk or something. I watched Alexander Final Cut a million times and YES like all fans the balcony sence is MY favorite I don't recall it ending like that. I used to think to myself that the balcony sence would've been PERFECT if the director combines the theatrical version w/ the final cut, and you here you did it. THANK YOU SO MUCH for uploading.
Thank you so much. I love the ending. Especially the part in which Hephaestion compliments Alexander's eyes and says he sounds like a school boy. That's true affection! I don't understand why it was cut? The best part of the movie. :O
I love the scene! Jared and Colin are fabulous!!! They really look like ancient heroes. Its so pure and great ! Eternal love between Alexander the Great and Hephaistion. :O)
I'm so happy I finally found this scene after YEARS of looking for it. It is a known historical fact that Alexander indeed tilted his head a bit to the left and to leave it out not only feels like a cheat to history but also a cheat to his relationship with Hephaistion. Who better than his Patroclus to comment on such a tiny but important quirk?
Also I just adore this scene for itself. Both their eyes, the yearning and adoration in them for the other, Hephaistion's shining with tears, it's just gorgeous. And the music just makes it even sweeter.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for uploading this.
AWEEEE!!! i love them so much!!!! I'm soooo glad u uploaded this! I really have to watch the uncut version!!
This is the most beautiful scene in the whole movie except for at the end of the movie where Alexander is dying and looks up to the sky to reach up for Haphaestian.
4:25 when Hephaistion lifts the mood :) if memory serves (made this edit in 2008..) in the Final cut they deleted when Phai commented how Alexander held his head (and how Alexander strikes him still? i think that was deleted too) and they moved straight to the hug. That part is still in the theatric cut but the rest of the scene was cut short.
Thanks for uploading this! I love this scene!! I hope the final cut will be released in germany!! It's one of my favorite movies! Thanks a lot!!
I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS BIT OF DIALOGUE FOR SO LONG!!! The only other copy I could find on RUclips was in another language. I'm so happy!
Thank you! And thanks so much for putting it all together!
Thank you very much! I so missed this wonderful episode in this beautiful scene! It's a very shame that the director cut it! Perhaps due to censorship...
I love this scene! Thank you for uploading it. :-D
Hi! It's from the Final Cut (the long version). I haven't seen the Director's cut and I don't ever plan to, hehe.
The thing that bugged me the most was that the "You still hold your head cocked" to "I feel as stupid as a schoolboy" was removed (i loved that!), but "You're everything I care for" and the hug is still there. So yes, the Final Cut has a few parts removed or changed. There is however, for some unknown reason, more of Bagoas, which sorta makes it more gay than the theatrical cut.
"Well if I'm Patroklus, I die first. Then you, Achilles." :)
As for this scene, from "She was always so sure I was born of Zeus" (i think...not sure!) to "If I'm Patroclus, I die first, then you Achilles" and "What would you do if you ever reached the end of the world?"/"I'd turn back and conquer its opposite" was put in.
It is you I love, Hephaistion... no other..
Wow, I'm amazed!
its stupid to say part of this dialog was cut because of fear of homophobia when they showed scenes of alexander and bagoas kissing and making love. they've should leave this dialog in final version too.
I also have been looking for this part for a long time!
thanks for posting this! i've only ever seen the director's cut of alexander but i hate how much of the hephaistion/alexander scenes were cut from the theatrical version.
I love this scene it´s unique love this pure and true love
i need to know the name of the soundtrack for this part i love someone knows the name please tell me
This film shouldn't have flopped.
everything makes sense now...
I'd have to say the Theatrical version on both accounts; it's my favourite as well. The final cut is extended and has a few alternate angles so I recommend it as well. The director's cut... *shudders* Let's just say it's shorter than the others and was made just to please an audience that don't like the idea of Alexander being into other men.
Alexander saying that he loves Hephaistion made it into the final cut, but the music was changed a bit since it cuts directly to Hephaistion giving him a hug, so I had to use that part from the Theatrical cut to make it run more smoothly. :)
There's 3 different versions of the film (theatrical, director's-but-actually-more-t he-film-company's, and final), sorry if I confused you with the editting!
The only reason this movie doesn’t get the love it deserves is because 2 men on the screen have more chemistry then any man with woman can ever have. It makes people uncomfortable because secretly they know that this love can’t be possible in regular relationships and it makes them jealous, like watching 2 lovers publicly making out. It’s not just physical it’s emotional, it’s intellectual, the bond is so strong that awkwardness between Alexander and Hephaestion never leave like it’s the first time they met. Again it’s not just physical - u can’t fulfil your animal desire and move on
Minha cena prediLETO desse filme. Kkkkkkk Jared Leto lindo e sedutor como sempre. Nem precisa se esforçar pra fazer todo mundo se apaixonar por ele. E esses olhos q mais parecem duas estrelas a brilhar no céu...... Nossa, sem comentários. Simplesmente perfeito.
This movie is on ITV1 tonight. I love this scene- they make such a great couple. I was just sad that they didn't kiss.
There are 3 versions of the movie that were released.
thank you!
OIiver Stone blew it, this movie needed to be about Alexander and Hephaistion's love affair with each other. Alexander loved Hephasition and for the movie to not have a kissing scene or a love scene between them was so insulting and homophobic.
Alexander the final cut was the best version by far. So much that was left out, added to the film. Being a person that studies history I believe Alexander and Hephaistian were in a relationship and it was part of Alexander's life, why leave it out?
He ended up as Robert Downey Jr's boyfriend in "Black & White" as well as waking up with a guy in "Sol Goode", I've uploaded clips from both films so you can find them there.
Haven't seen either version in quite awhile so I don't remember much, but I don't think there's more (major) differences in the Alex/Heph scenes. The night before Gaugamela is extended, but it's with Alexander talking to some of his men. There's an added scene in India where Hephaistion talks about the monkeys they've just encountered.
I agree. The film that was released in theaters is very different from the final cut version. The film suffered when they started chopping it into pieces. It is a shame. I would have rather sat through a 3 hour movie (like I did Braveheart) and get a better experience than sit and have it rushed across the screen and all chopped up.
Hello there,
I own 3 versions of this film, yet none of them contain the line Hephaestion says about Alexander's eyes. Can you tell me what version is it from? Thanks a lot!
Boa noite, acho lindo os dois choro com essa sena.amor puro lindo.❤❤❤❤
what movie did jared leto do with a guy?! haha i must see this! :O
I've never understood why in the version I've seen in streaming (I unfortunately don't owe the dvd) this scene has the part when Alexander says he loves Hephaestion but there are other lines missing. How many versions does this movie have?
Some sources claim he was, as we call it, bisexual. It all comes down to the authors' opinions on the matter. If someone is, not necessarily a homophobe but definately having issues with a man like Alexander together with another man (or even a eunuch), they sure as hell won't mention it and/or will stand by that he only had eyes for women. ;)
thanks for the rating. :)
what age certifice is alexander?
Dude, no one was gay or straight that way WE see it back then. Alexander slept with the eunuch, most likely with Hephaistion too (atleast when they were younger).
❤
There were a lot of different scenes that they should have put back into the theatrical cut. I also like the order the movie is in in the theatrical cut... you know, where everything is in order the way it happened lol.
Okay, so what part of this is NOT in Alexander Revisited, please?
From what I gathered, Aristotle started the rumors that Alexander was bisexual. But who knows?
Both Colin and Jared has had experiences with being involved with other men in previous films, so I doubt it'd make a difference if one of them was a woman. :p
I completely agree with you on the rest, though. :)
(and well, 300 was based on a graphic novel/comic book so it wasn't surprising it stuck to that style)
They should have kissed.
Hi! You can download it through keepvid dot com :) Just copy the url and accept to run the what's.it-called when it shows up (it's safe, i use that site all the time!) and it's yours! Thanks for the vid views, heh! :))
sometimes jared sounds american and sometimes he puts on an accent, its funny!
Pretty weak performances from both actors in this scene. You can tell neither of them are comfortable... probably would have been better if one was a woman lol.
Still great script writing though. Alexander was a true hero and Greece was a true civilized nation... unlike that comic book depiction in 300. In the end it really does not matter if Alexander was gay.
"They all came to the end of their time, and in the end, when it's over all that matters is what you've done."
