    Great idea. I just got assigned the task of refreshing a 2004 330Ci, which came out of a recent storm with trunk as a swimming pool, and water in the back seat. Now that I know where the drain is, will try to pour water down it to see if either is clogged. Thanks for the clear, easy to follow video!

    Mr. B thank you for this video. I have an E46 (323 Ci) with the same issue. Just tried this DIY this morning and it worked like a charm... At first nothing was happening, but after 10 minutes right before I gave up, I flushed it with Hot water and to my amazement the water started flowing out from the drain. 👍🏼👍🏼

    so I dont really see pooled water in my trunk, but the carpet over the spare is damp and condensation on the carpet attached to the deck lid and tool kit as well as around the seals on the painted parts. ideas?

      The drains, tail light seals, and the trunk seal are really the only place I’ve seen these leak personally.

      10-4.. i checked the top stowage area drains..water goes out there just fine.. and its not pooling water.. but the spare tire cover is damp on the top and the underside@@AutoScholarwithMrB

    Any idea about the long term effects of Drano on auto paint😵‍💫

      It is flushed out with water afterwards. I would imagine the ongoing leak would cause more corrosion.

    did you ever make the video taking the top off? I think i screwed up the alignment of the top and i couldn't remove it at the end :(

    I have a 2001 BMW325CI which my dash light shows that my trunk is open even though it is not. I replaced the locking mechanism and adjusted the rubber boots on both sides of the trunk and neither of these fixes worked. My trunk used to work with the fab button but neither key will open the trunk and the button on the interior driver left does not operate the trunk. I can only open by manually putting in the key. Having said all this I can not use my convertible because the trunk light on the dash never goes off. Any suggestions???

    Isn't this draino stuff corrosive? Is it possible to snake that drain with a cloth hanger wire from the underneath of the vehicle?

      There really is no good way to get to it. As long as you flush with plenty of water afterwards, you should be fine. Thanks for watching!

    HOW does the water get in there in the first place?!!

    Curious whether that drain cleaner is safe on painted steel or whether this e46 is now gradually getting lighter and lighter? 😮

      @AutoScholarwithMrB  Год назад +1

      As long as you flush the area afterwards well there should not be an issue. I would be more concerned with the standing water sitting in there for days versus the drain cleaner for a few minutes. Thanks for watching!

    Checked first with wire and it seemed nothing fouling the drain holes. I poured the "Draino" into the area and after a few minutes it started to........"drain". 😁😁

    Great vid as always dude. Can you do a video about a p0299 underboost code? Got it today on my b5.5 Passat tdi. Also in desperate need of doing my glow plug harness. I'm not the most skilled with electrical work. The previous time I tried to splice in a glow plug harness on my Jetta, and gave up and took it to the shop. Any chance could do a wiring/splicing tutorial of a glow plug harness? Thanks

      I will see if I can find a TDI around here and get a video done. They are a little hard to find in my area.

    A take a coat hanger cut the squiggly side of and bend a 45 ° angle put in sideways and twist you will hear the water drain when you find the hole and willow it out. Drain will clear

    "Pour right here" but, you blocked the camera. Where did you pour that Drain? I would suggest pouring hot water after the drain. It helps break up whatever is in there. JUST like your kitchen drain!
