    Just bought a US water systems whole home reverse osmosis system. It wastes 1 gallon of water for every 5 gallons of clean water. Now this system was almost 13k but still.

    good video. 59ppm that's a lot: in the kitchen ro does better and rain should be close to 0 ppm like distilled water. Anyway the well water they started with is very mineral loaded at 1100 ppm if I remember well so it's already well filtered by the present RO

    Im kinda surprised you can ONLY get it down to 50% concentrate recovery. I mean I guess I would be using 3-4 membranes at this point. 4x40s anyone? let alone there is so much extra stuff in here that seams unnecessary. Carbon at the front, maybe an anti scalant cartridge , then the membranes, and then a Calcite system afterwards so the pipes don't corrode.

    It is good when it is warm in winter and there is no snow. Ice.
    In a transparent container, either algae or microorganisms will begin to multiply. I did not understand how the concentrate is disposed of.
    And, apparently, a good well, there is no iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide :)

    Efficiency is not something you should be mentioning in this system, you already added a pump on top of the already power sucking well pump so, 2nd problem is regardless of where in the US this system is either the sun or the snow will suck a life out of it. this system any every water filtration system should be kept under shed/shade. I am on well water with chlorine system plus softener plus 3 large filter inline, at home we use reverse osmosis system for fridge and coffee maker. I honestly don't see the need to use your system that is just costing the home owner in both power bill and of course cost of buying it.

    • @Crystalclear-systems
      @Crystalclear-systems  2 года назад +2

      I appreciate your comments and concerns where is where I’m from people have salt water coming out of there well so a water softener or under sink reverse osmosis system will not work for them. The total dissolved solids is 2500. So unless they want to continue buying pipes and appliances and faucets and fixtures. They decided to add a reverse osmosis system and ours is the most efficient on the market. That’s the reason they need to be installed. You’re thinking of only a power bill and the cost of buying it but you’re not thinking about all of the pipes, fridge, washers ,dishwashers fixtures and everything that corrode. I hope you don’t have to live in an area like this because you will have to get a reverse osmosis system thank you have a great day

    What membrane manufacturer recommends sending pressurized water backwards thru the membrane? All references I have found indicate this will damage the membrane.

    • @Crystalclear-systems
      @Crystalclear-systems  4 года назад

      Well I understand your concern. It prevents channeling a prevents contaminate buildup it makes the membranes last longer so you don’t have to replace them. I get great life out-of my membranes And even when the membranes are almost found out we can run them through and cleaning station and get more life out of them say one membrane is running only a half a gallon a minute we can send it through our cleaning station and get more life out of it maybe 3/4 gallon or 1 gallon and get better production as well. Do you ever think that manufacture doesn’t recommend it because I want you to buy more membranes?

      @@Crystalclear-systems that didn’t answer the question. I’ve been in protein purification for almost 20 years and running anything backwards through the membrane is not recommended. You answered it with that’s the way you do it ? Ok but that’s not the way they were manufactured for . Weird .

    Genuine question while 1:2 ratio isn’t bad efficiency, I thought that 1:1 is considered most efficient. Another question is, why would you install the system with such a small filter capacity for an entire home? Changing filters once a month means it’s sized incorrectly for this homes usage, no? Shouldn’t they be on a 4.5” x 10” or even a 4.5” x 20” filter size? Regardless of type of filter used there? I’m assuming that’s a particulate filter (could be anything though). If they’re on a replaceable filter system, vs media filtration, shouldn’t filter changes occur about once a year?

    • @Crystalclear-systems
      @Crystalclear-systems  2 года назад

      Single membrane is a 1:2 ratio, If we installed our 2,3 or 4 membrane system it would be 1:1 or 1:.5 or 1:.25. "Depends on how efficient the customer wants it. The normal on any reverse osmosis system is typically 1:4 or 1:5.
      The filter is not for the whole home, its the pre filter for the membrane. You always have a filter before the membrane. If you want your membrane to last you change it once a month. Again this is the first filter it sees before the membrane which h is a 5 micron filter. A media filter will not filter down that small. Yes you also can use a 4.5x10 or 20. Depending on the application. If you use a 4x20 you might be able to get 2 months out of it before you change it. But again you risk the chance of fouling out your membrane faster.

    • @BigBear--
      @BigBear-- Год назад

      @@Crystalclear-systems Yeah I assumed that's a 5 micron particulate pre filter. If the overall flow rate is the same (governed by the membrane), and same amount of particulates in the water, a larger filter would last longer than a smaller filter. No? We have a 2.5 x 20 currently, and we only need to change it about every 3 months for a whole house RO (2400 sq ft house, 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and a extra sink in the laundry). We're running dual membranes at about 3 gpm production output combined. We use a lot of water, including running clean water from our water spigots for our hose use and pool refills. My plan is to upgrade to a 4.5 x 20 Big Blue style particulate pre filter to increase the time of how often we change the filter to about every 5-6+ months.

    Why is there sulfur and bacteria in the RO water if the membrane is doing it's job? Do you have an option for a better Membrane?

    • @Crystalclear-systems
      @Crystalclear-systems  3 года назад

      no matter how good of the membrane, over time the sulfur bacteria will plug it up and not allow water to pass through the membrane. If you test positive for Bacteria or have bacteria it will not be present at first but over time the bacteria will pass through the membrane, which is why we add a uv light to the system for failsafe. To answer your question a better membrane will not matter with sulfur bacteria / bacteria. You are protected by the uv to kill bacteria.

    • @brianjohnson8883

    • @Crystalclear-systems
      @Crystalclear-systems  4 года назад +2

      1st of all you're probly using it on city water. 2nd of all you don't want 0TDS inside the house for your whole home. People in our area have very high salt in the water they start off at 1500 to 2000 total dissolved solids. If I wanted to I could put in di filter as well to get it down to 0. But that's not what I'm looking to do I've accomplished exactly what I wanted to do. If I wanted to get their house down to 0 I 100% could of but again not what I'm looking to do. If you know anything about water you know-it-all matters and the starting total dissolved solids.

      Thats less waste water than 90% of the systems out there. If you do any research most companies don't even mention the waste water. However if waste water is an issue we have other systems that are less waste water. We have systems that make 1 gallon and waste only .25 of a gallon. When you make the best water you have to get all the bad stuff out of the water, which is the waste water.
