This is a really good question, and I have no idea. It would be an interesting experiment. I like your idea of using the waste water, rather than it just going down the drain.
Thank you so much for this video! I bought this system but don't even have the tools yet, hence why I'm watching your video! In your case, your RO faucet could be fitted into the existing hole in your sink set. If I don't have a hole, can I just drill it with any regular drill for drilling into PVC pipes (that I will go buy)? Also, at 6:50, you drilled into the vertical part of the drain pipe. I had seen other vids that said to drill the hole on the horizontal part to prevent dripping sounds; was there a reason you chose the vertical part? And would the horizontal part of your drain pipe been sufficiently long to drill a hole there if you wanted?
Any drill is fine for drilling a hole. But make sure you are using a drill bit for metal. (If you use a bit for wood, it will dull very quickly.) The reason I drilled into the vertical part is because that is what the directions said to do. You could probably drill into the top of the horizontal part, but the base of the sink might make that difficult.
Our system was put in in 2004. They have made a few changes since then. The safety clips the clear sediment filter case. The leak preventer system. Cutting the drain line at a 45 will keep the line from being restricted if it was push in to far. We have the 5 filter system. What pressure should the tank be empty, and when it is full?
Hello, if I didn’t flush the 3 stages does it ruin the filters? I just connected it and ran the flush through the system. I forgot the part at video 18:20
I don't think you ruined anything. Probably some of the carbon dust from the filters went to the RO membrane. Probably a tiny reduction in efficiency for the membrane.
Hi any body can help me i change all the filter but still the water no good I check the water still not good the give me 46 % the water no good I don't know what to do i have the machine to check the water
I am not sure what the 46% reading is you are getting. If you are still getting bad water, something isn't hooked up properly. Hard to tell what it is from here, but go back over it and make sure everything it hooked up with the proper flow direction.
I installed it 6 months ago and haven't had any issues with it. I just did the 6 month filter change and will be posting that video on Wednesday. The only other RO system I am familiar with is AOSmith which I also made vidoes about. I chose the iSpring because the filters are less expensive. I haven't had any problems with AOSmith, but other people have posted that they have had leaks from the filter sumps.
Best installation video!!! Thank you so much for the amazing explanations and great video angles. If you're looking for a video for this filter, look no more...save your time and watch this one!! Thank you man! 🙌
Could you please help me the leak protection... I understand one side goes to the red but what connects to the Grey? Also our water is cloudy, any suggestions? I filled and emptied tank 3x
@@loupakisathleticcenter9667 The red line is the supply line that delivers water from the FEED WATER ADAPTER to the RO system. You will cut this line in the middle somewhere and insert the leak stop valve. So the red line will go from the FEED WATER ADAPTER to the LEAK STOP VALVE, and then the red line will come out of the other side of the LEAK STOP VALVE and go to the RO system. The cloudy water is probably just air bubbles. If you let the water sit in a glass for a minute it should clear up. If it doesn't, I would contact iSpring and ask them.
Thank you so much for the detailed video.. how long does the water continue to drain when a new filter is installed.. mine is draining since a couple of hours.. is that normal?
Sure doesn't look like it on the video, I'll check next time I am down there. It probably isn't critical. That is not a pressurized line, so you don't really have to worry about leaks coming from it. If you have a clip to put in there, I would put one in there, though.
Thank you so much uploading this video, i was really confuse to assemble when i cleaning all parts of filter , after assembal was wrong when i c this video
I am not sure that I understand the question. The RO filters the water and stores it in the pressure tank. The RO process is slow so you need the tank to save up the filtered water so that it comes out quickly when you want it. If you don't have the tank the water flow would be restricted by the filters and would just come out of the faucet as a trickle regardless of your water pressure in the rest of the house. I hope that answered it.
@@TheFixitShed Sorry I should have been more clear on my question, thanks for your response, I was asking do I need to purchase a system with a pump? but I purchased RCC7AK 6 after seeing your video and followed your instructions to install it on my own, It's working perfectly good without a motor pump. thanks a lot for your step-by-step instructions. You really did an excellent video here. I really appreciate it.
@@sabai005 Thank you! I am glad it helped. Sorry I messed up on the question, but glad you sorted it out. I actually didn't realize you could get the RO system with its own pump. I'll have to check that out.
Great video! Just installed a system identical. Wish I had watched this first. Has anyone had any failures with these push quick connects? Just curious because I am not familiar with them.
I am sure they have. If you have any issues, you just want to make sure the cuts on the ends of the hoses are as clean and square as possible. A jagged or angled cut can cause a leak in the connectors.
Great video man. By chance would you know if a hose could be T'ed off into a refrigerator? Would love to have filtered water coming out of my fridge as well.
The storage tank pressure should be arounf 5-7 lbs (You may want to check with iSpring to double check that range, but it is close). You have to check the pressure when there is no water in the tank. Over inflating will damage it. Adding more pressure to the tank does not increase the pressure coming out of the faucet.
Thank you for this video. Question though... Does the cold water have to be turned off to drain the tank or can I leave that on and it will eventually start trickling more slowly? (30 min in water still strong)
If you are 30 minutes on and it is still going strong, that doesn't seem right to me. The tank only holds 1 gallon. Once that is empty, it should flow at the rate the RO membrane will allow, which is just a trickle.
Thank you so much for the detailed video.. how long does the water continue to drain when a new filter is installed.. mine is draining since a couple of hours.. is that normal?
@@ibrahimkamle9124It must be normal, because the current iSpring video says to mount the drain tube into a horizontal pipe to avoid the constant dripping sound.
I didn't. Toward the end of the video I describe how to install it. It needs to be on the floor of the cabinet (or wherever you have the system installed) so that if it starts leaking, the valve will get wet, causing the puck to expand and shut off the valve.
why did you use the white plumbers tape on the tank connection and not anywhere else? and do I need plumbers tape for that connection or am I okay without it? I don’t have any on hand but could order some if need be
You only use the tape on threaded connections, and the feed water adapter ("T") has the rubber o-rings/seals, so it doen't reallt need the tape. IIRC, The tank connection doesn't have the rubber seal, so you use the tape to seal on the threads. Check through the contents of your box. i thought that it cam with a small supply of the plumbers tape. It has been a couple years since I have installed this, so I may be remembering wrong. I highly recommend using it on the tank threads.
Good video, just be careful about too many wraps of Teflon tape, fitting could pop off under pressure if not enough thread bite. I also flushed the other carbon filter as well. Surprised at how much carbon comes out. Could plug other filters or membrane.
Probably not, but not a bad idea to check.when you check the air pressure, the tank has to be empty. When it is empty, the air pressure should be 5-7 psi.
What if my drain pipe was made of copper? Can I drill a hole in copper the same way? I have a titanium coated 1/4 inch bit that I’m gonna use. Install the saddle the same way but is it a good idea?
It shouldn't matter as long as it is the same diameter pipe so that the saddle fits. I don't remember the size of the drill bit , but make sure that is the correct size so that the hose going in there is a snug fit. Otherwise, it may leak a little.
The most important step that I want to add to your video, is that you want to maintain a sterile environment. During the time of which you are adding the filters and putting the tubing together, you want to avoid introducing unwanted bacteria that can grow in colonies inside your system. So I try to breathe through my nose not talking too much, and in addition keep hand sanitizer nearby, avoiding touching the internals too much.
Most likely it is just air bubbles. If you let the water sit for a minute, it should clear up. It seems to happen when water pressure is higher. I have low water pressure so it comes out clear. Slowly, but clear. My friends have higher water pressure (like a fire hose) and theirs comes out cloudy, but a minute later it is clear.
Hi! Thanks a lot for the video, very well explained, installation was super easy :) If I go on vacation for a month and I shut off the water supply, do I need do to anything specific when I come back, like draining the tank or that is not necessary ?
Glad it helped! Do you have to? Not really. Running for a few minutes until it reduces to a trickle would drain the tank, and resupply it with fresh water. It wouldn't hurt.
If you opened all of the valves you closed to change the filters, the only other thing I can think of is the stage 2 filter. It is directional, and if you installed it upside down, that could be an issue. I have a video on replacing the filters here: ruclips.net/video/5NErj8eATxE/видео.htmlsi=8-y6RrsetTDM68te
Im having problems withe the osmosis filter, the water wont come out from the filter, I removed it to check if the pressure was good and it is, I pushed the osmosis filter to the end of the tube but it's not coming out, do you have any idea? Thanks for the vid
@TheFixitShed yes it does, and actually I added more pressure into the tank till 40 psi but nothing, actually I asked for a replacement and they send it but it's happening the same
@@greylp88 If you disconnect the water inlet from the RO filter, as I shoed in the video to flush the carbon out from the new filters, does water come out?
If you have the RCC7AK 6 stage system, I don't see where you can buy just a single set of filters. you can buy this one year set amzn.to/3cnpnLl, but it doesn't come with the RO membrane. You can buy that separately here amzn.to/3Kn9u4i
Is it specks in the water ot air bubbles? I have a friend who gets a lot of air bublles. If you let it sit for a minute, it clears up. If it is white particles, that should not be.
I didn't realize it went further into the housing for the RO MEMBRANE container and had to touch it momentarily. Will that cause a bacterial build up or something?
If you want to fixt it, you could replace the piece of pipe. Its not terribly expensive. If you just want to plug it, off the top of my head, I would cut a small piece from a pvc pipe (maybe 1" by 1"), use plumbers putty between the patch and the pipe with the hole and put a hose clamp around it.
It is normal for water to come out of the drain hose, but it isn't usually more than a trickle. It may trickle for a few days. If a large volume of water is coming out of the drain hose, it sounds like something isn't right.
The same question was asked to iSpring and they said: “The RCC7 pure to waste water ratio is 1:3. Under normal operating conditions, 3 gallons should go to drain. Water should go to drain while the system is being used. Once the tank is full, water should not go to drain. “
Hi, I just installed a system like this, 7 stage, and notices that the water flow was clearly reduced when getting water from the fridge. Before it was a direct line and it had pretty good pressure, after the filtration system the flow was drastically reduced. Is this normal or did I do something wrong? Great video, btw
By the way, had another Q - I had a leak at the yellow quick-connect on top of the pressurized water tank. Tried reconnecting, inserting it all the way in etc, but did not stop the leak. Finally, I cut the yellow hose about an inch down, put a lil vaseline on hose, stuck it back all the way into the quick-connect, and now the leak the gone. However, in that process, I ended up opening the tank's cap, and all the pressurized water literally splashed up the ceiling! Does this mean I need to check/re-pressurize the tank (up to ~10psi?), or is that normal, and let it be? The pressure at the outlet faucet seems okay - but not too fast.
It could be that the end of the yellow line had an imperfection, and making another cut was the right solution. If water came out of the tank, then when you reconnect everything, it should repressurize and be fine. If you let AIR out, then you would need to put air back in.
@@TheFixitShed Didn't let the air out, just the water came out (pressurized). Cool, will leave it alone then :) Drilling the hole in the granite was a ***** ! I hit the steel corner plate of the sink under the granite... and it took some work and lot of patience to get through. But, so happy it is all done and working great now :)
RO filtration is a slow process, so the tank holds filtered water so that there is some available when you need it, and you don't have to wait 5 minutes for it to fill a glass of water.
@@WebGuyTV The replacement filters are a little pricey. Other than that, it has been ok. I have seen a bunch of review online with complaints of leaking, but I haven't had any. I installed on at my son's place and opted to go with iSpring. It had good reviews, and the replacement filters are a little less expensive. I have done a couple of videos on that system as well. If you haven't bought a system yet, I would check them out as well.
Hi I just bought the same system and i expect to receive it in a couple days. Did you receive results from lab test? How is the taste of water before and after installation? Here in europe this filter cost around 400€, so i hope i did a good purchase 😄

Thank so much. Can it be connected to a fridge for ice cubes?
It can be. I have not done it, but others have commented that they have.
Great video! One question, please. Will the original faucet still work and dispense water? Thank you.
As long as you install it per the direction, yes. The "T" splits the water so that it goes to both the existing faucet and the RO system
Great video Fixit Shed, How is your experience using this RO water filtration system and would you recommend this over any other RO products?
I installed it 6 months ago and haven't had any issues with it. I just did the 6 month filter change and will be posting that video on Wednesday. The only other RO system I am familiar with is AOSmith which I also made vidoes about. I chose the iSpring because the filters are less expensive. I haven't had any problems with AOSmith, but other people have posted that they have had leaks from the filter sumps.
Best installation video!!! Thank you so much for the amazing explanations and great video angles. If you're looking for a video for this filter, look no more...save your time and watch this one!! Thank you man! 🙌
Wow, thanks! Your comment made my day!
@@TheFixitShed You rock!!! Thank you man! Your channel is priceless!! 💯
Amazing. Saved me $500.
Gald the video helped!
Thank you so much for the detailed video.. how long does the water continue to drain when a new filter is installed.. mine is draining since a couple of hours.. is that normal?
Glad it helped, It can take a few days.
Great video, did you install the locking clips onto the tubing at the drain saddle?
Sure doesn't look like it on the video, I'll check next time I am down there. It probably isn't critical. That is not a pressurized line, so you don't really have to worry about leaks coming from it. If you have a clip to put in there, I would put one in there, though.
Thank you so much uploading this video, i was really confuse to assemble when i cleaning all parts of filter , after assembal was wrong when i c this video
Glad it helped
Well done installation video! I appreciate it very much.
You are welcome!
Dude, Excellent step-by-step details. I really appreciate it. do we really need the RO system with a pump? my water flow is good.
Usually drain is put above garbage disposal drain, right?
I would, if you can
Great video man. By chance would you know if a hose could be T'ed off into a refrigerator? Would love to have filtered water coming out of my fridge as well.
Yes, you can splice into the waterline into the faucet.
This is a great vid !!!
Just one question of anyone knows ?? How do I install a line to the fridge for ice and water??
Thank you in advance
Thanks! I don't have specifics, like what parts you need, but you can splice into the line going to the faucet and run a line to the fridge.
One question does the storage tank has to be air up ? Or add air to equal amount of water pressure in the house?
The storage tank pressure should be arounf 5-7 lbs (You may want to check with iSpring to double check that range, but it is close). You have to check the pressure when there is no water in the tank. Over inflating will damage it. Adding more pressure to the tank does not increase the pressure coming out of the faucet.
The tank comes pressurised.
Is it normal to hear water dripping into the drain saddle. It seems to be on and off all day
Yes, it is normal. The system uses water to wash away the contaminants caught by the filter. Then it passes through the waste line to the drain.
Thank you @BrentBrown
Where did you connect the leak stop valve? There is not step that shows where you place it
Good tip!
Fantastic video man thank you for making it easy.
Glad it helped!
I think you did this as demonstration? Because you didn't have Teflon on while assembling the water source connector
You can use teflon tape if you want, but there is a rubber seal inside the fitting. The teflon is not neccessary.
When the tank is filled, do you turn the tank shut off valve back off?
No, leave it open.
Great video thank you
No need to fill air into the tank?
Probably not, but not a bad idea to check.when you check the air pressure, the tank has to be empty. When it is empty, the air pressure should be 5-7 psi.
What if my drain pipe was made of copper? Can I drill a hole in copper the same way? I have a titanium coated 1/4 inch bit that I’m gonna use. Install the saddle the same way but is it a good idea?
It shouldn't matter as long as it is the same diameter pipe so that the saddle fits. I don't remember the size of the drill bit , but make sure that is the correct size so that the hose going in there is a snug fit. Otherwise, it may leak a little.
noticed your reverse osmosis membrane was sticking out a bit and not sitting fully flush inside the canister before you closed the lid, is that fine?
yes. I believe that was fully seated, but if not, screwing the cap on will take care of it.
The most important step that I want to add to your video, is that you want to maintain a sterile environment. During the time of which you are adding the filters and putting the tubing together, you want to avoid introducing unwanted bacteria that can grow in colonies inside your system. So I try to breathe through my nose not talking too much, and in addition keep hand sanitizer nearby, avoiding touching the internals too much.
can I ask a question? Why does the water come out cloudy, and if it is normal, how long does this process last? thank you
Most likely it is just air bubbles. If you let the water sit for a minute, it should clear up. It seems to happen when water pressure is higher. I have low water pressure so it comes out clear. Slowly, but clear. My friends have higher water pressure (like a fire hose) and theirs comes out cloudy, but a minute later it is clear.
Hi! Thanks a lot for the video, very well explained, installation was super easy :)
If I go on vacation for a month and I shut off the water supply, do I need do to anything specific when I come back, like draining the tank or that is not necessary ?
Glad it helped! Do you have to? Not really. Running for a few minutes until it reduces to a trickle would drain the tank, and resupply it with fresh water. It wouldn't hurt.
I just replace all the filters, but I can’t get the water to come out of the tank, the valve is open. Thanks
Best video! Thank you!!!

Im having problems withe the osmosis filter, the water wont come out from the filter, I removed it to check if the pressure was good and it is, I pushed the osmosis filter to the end of the tube but it's not coming out, do you have any idea? Thanks for the vid
Was this a new install? Were you replacing the RO Filter? Was it working and then stopped?
It's a new install and I've just checked and the water It's doesn't even getting into the tank
@@greylp88 Did it fill the 3 big filter sumps?
@TheFixitShed yes it does, and actually I added more pressure into the tank till 40 psi but nothing, actually I asked for a replacement and they send it but it's happening the same
@@greylp88 If you disconnect the water inlet from the RO filter, as I shoed in the video to flush the carbon out from the new filters, does water come out?
I need replace all the filters, what do I need to buy?
If you have the RCC7AK 6 stage system, I don't see where you can buy just a single set of filters. you can buy this one year set amzn.to/3cnpnLl, but it doesn't come with the RO membrane. You can buy that separately here amzn.to/3Kn9u4i
Call Isprings if you need help. They are very helpful.
I flushed my unit like the instructions said but I still have some white flecks floating. Is this normal or will it clear up?
Is it specks in the water ot air bubbles? I have a friend who gets a lot of air bublles. If you let it sit for a minute, it clears up. If it is white particles, that should not be.
@@TheFixitShed looks more like white particles. I flushed the system for a second time and now it’s just air bubbles. Great video! Helped a lot 👍🏻👍🏻
What happens if you accidentally touch the plastic tip on the reverse osmosis filter.
I didn't realize it went further into the housing for the RO MEMBRANE container and had to touch it momentarily. Will that cause a bacterial build up or something?
Probably not a big deal. You could sterilize it with some bleach and then flush the system for 24 hours if you wanted to be sure.
why didnt they get a chrome faucet?
that would have been a nice option
Saved our asses , thanks man
I wanna get this but I'm Renting right now and was wondering if I ever need to plug up the drain hole. What would I do?
If you want to fixt it, you could replace the piece of pipe. Its not terribly expensive. If you just want to plug it, off the top of my head, I would cut a small piece from a pvc pipe (maybe 1" by 1"), use plumbers putty between the patch and the pipe with the hole and put a hose clamp around it.
@@TheFixitShed thx for responding. One more question, how has your system holding up? Has it been filtering well? Would you still recommend it? TIA
Yes. I haven't had any problems with it, and replacement filters cost less than the AO Smith system I got at Lowes.
very informative. much appreciate Sir
Thank you! Glad you liked it
I just installed mine and its dumping out alot of water from the drain side? Is that normal?
It is normal for water to come out of the drain hose, but it isn't usually more than a trickle. It may trickle for a few days. If a large volume of water is coming out of the drain hose, it sounds like something isn't right.
It was great however you did not show the safety valve set up steps.. can you?
Thanks. I did go over how to install it near the end of the video. I didi't actuall install it in my system, and I don't think I have it anymore.
How much water will go as waste in this system
I really don't know. It uses some to keep the filter clean, but it goes directly to the drain. I haven't ever measured it.
Thank you! probably normal. My RO runs pretty slowly compared to my regular faucet.
Drilling through the granite is no joke. Congrats on your successful install!!
So... what is the tank for? What does it do?
RO filtration is a slow process, so the tank holds filtered water so that there is some available when you need it, and you don't have to wait 5 minutes for it to fill a glass of water.
@@TheFixitShed OK, that makes sense. Thanks for the reply.
You've had this installed for 7 months now... any regrets? any additional info?
@@WebGuyTV The replacement filters are a little pricey. Other than that, it has been ok. I have seen a bunch of review online with complaints of leaking, but I haven't had any. I installed on at my son's place and opted to go with iSpring. It had good reviews, and the replacement filters are a little less expensive. I have done a couple of videos on that system as well. If you haven't bought a system yet, I would check them out as well.
@@TheFixitShed Awesome. Thanks, brother.
@@WebGuyTV oops! This is the iSpring. AO Smith is the one with the pricey filters and leaky reviews. Sorry about that
Why not put the fitting on the faucet before installing it in the sink.
If you put the white coupler on first, you can't get the black plastic "nut" on to secure the faucet to the sink.
Hi
I just bought the same system and i expect to receive it in a couple days.
Did you receive results from lab test? How is the taste of water before and after installation?
Here in europe this filter cost around 400€, so i hope i did a good purchase 😄
My water tasted fine before and after installation. My problem was lead in the water. We did have it tested before and after installation, and don't actuallt remeber the numbers, but before it was high and after the installation it was at an acceptable level. Sorry for being vague.
