What I like about these videos is the lack of the ubiquitous and variant alphabet soup. (A,D,B,C,I)
Go to different places and be confused at the different simplifying labels used.
Then you need to unlearn these and replace with the correct terminolgy.
I can't tell you how clear yours are in comparison. Top marks Penzance!

Lol as a person just starting to learn that was the most confusing video I have seen. right from the start I was lost. starting to subtract degs. or something. then went way out of the way. I understand you can't find sail 7 to the wind but wow all them miles out. Guess I needed to find a beginning for this. but thanks for the time you spent on the video I know someone more advanced will understand it.

Hi - sorry to hear this. The Predicted EP is one of the more advanced skills. You might like to watch our videos alongside reading our website pzsc.org.uk/shorebased/
Before attempting a Predicted EP try to master Dead Reckoning and Estimated Position.
      Good luck with your studies.

Great video - struggling with exercises for Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster Offshore theory. Section 7, question 4. Kept on getting it wrong as found wind direction difficult to work out onshore wind for leaving Victoria. Watched your video and all came clear. Thanks.

Got it right - happy. And just finished the next question too. That's Passage Making done. Will use your videos for revision and then put in for the test. Thanks again for great videos.

Richard Campbell - thanks for the comment.
Whether you add or subtract depends on the situation you are in.
      Course to steer
Let's say you wanted to sail from A to B and the bearing between the two points is 090 and that this bits you on a starboard tack. Assuming for a minute there is no tide you would need to add your leeway to the bearing so that you don't get pushed down wind of point B.
      Predicted EP
With this you are at point C and your best course to windward on a starboard task might be 090. Again assuming for a minute that there is no tide, the course you will travel over the ground will be 090 subtract the leeway.
      Hope that helps.

@@pzsc See my comment above re alphabetasized teaching.
I knew what exactly what you meant already, but letters just add yet another angle to unravel. After I read this A) I was doubting what I already knew. Imagine B) if i didn't aleady know it. if C) you know what I mean, D) catch my drift?
