I was on the Independence of the Seas and I never felt the boat move except one night we hit rough seas for a few hours. It’s one of the largest boats though that could be why
We were on our Alaska cruise at the same time!!! I was on NCL Encore with the racetrack on back 😁. I am a die hard cruiser and became a cruise specialist/travel agent bc of my passion! As far as the ship movement, where your room is makes a difference too. Front & high has most movement, then back of ship, least movement midship which also prices higher. The scenery in Alaska was so breath taking! I've sent many clients there thru the years, and took a big group there this last week. Absolutely love having a cruise vlog from you! Something a bit different 😁

I watch another RUclips family and they did an Alaskan cruise last month and they packed all long warm clothes. They had hats, scarves, gloves and even winter coats and rain jackets. Especially for the excursion days when they were off the ship. It was raining, windy and cold 🥶

I feel you when it comes to anxiety and not being able to enjoy the moment. For me, CBD really helps me when I need to relax and keep those anxiety demons at arms length. I do get that it’s not for everyone though.
Alaska cruise versus Gulf of Mexico cruise--The wind coming off the continent definitely makes the sailing more choppy in Alaska since the ship is fighting wind and current, but I didn't have as much of an issue to seasickness up there. Other than a random storm on the way back to New Orleans that got me sick, the Gulf trip was a smoother sail.
It seems like yesterday they were just little tikes beat boppin around the Nickelodeon Island and now they are so grown!! I’m sorry the cruise was not your thing, but hope you still enjoyed it some! ❤

Turns out, nahla DID in fact pack her leave in. We found out when we fully unpacked on the ship 😂 and we didn’t forget sweats, that was just a bad decision to not include them
I did a cruise from Alaska to British Columbia, and day two we all felt the boat moving and some people got very nauseous. However, it is the most beautiful scenery!

I completely understand the anxiety after having the kids. When I was younger I literally did not think things through. Loved boats, planes anything and everything. Even traveling alone with my husband I am completely fine. As soon as I have my kids with me panic hits and I am making exit plans in my head😅

The calmness of the water or lack thereof and also the placement of your room can affect how much you feel the boat move. The water could be choppier, or it could be your own sensitivity has changed. It could also just be where your room is located.

What a beautiful adventure for your family. I feel you about the first few nights girl. It's definitely something to get use to. Everything is SO expensive but it definitely pays out in the end with breath taking scenery and beautiful memories made with your babies. 🥰
We have gone on three cruises- western, eastern carribbeans and Alaska. If you only do one cruise in a lifetime I’d recommend Alaska so I’m so glad that if this is the last cruise you take it was this one. We did the exact same stops with Royal. Alaska is notoriously a choppier cruise. I took a ton of Bonine and I still felt ill a lot but was able to rally each day besides the first sea day I was in the cabin with diarrhea- it confuses your inertia which can cause both nausea AND diarrhea and I have IBS. So I have to take Imodium every day I cruise to keep it at bay and it actually helps me just as much as Bonine to settle me. I took Dramamine for our last Eastern cruise and I felt so much sickness coming off of it when I came home that I wouldn’t take it again. You can go into withdrawal from those. My dr said if I want to do another cruise she’d just prescribe me Zofran for anti nausea and to take my Imodium. And even though I suffer we may end up doing another cruise in our lifetime just because it is such a cost effective and easy way to travel and see parts of the world in a safe environment with your group tours. That’s why we have taken 3 even though I feel sick every one lol😂 I always vow I won’t do another and then we book another lol. It’s kinda dumb we need to look into other types of travel that suit us, but we aren’t really a beach bunny couple so we want to go to museums, trails, city tours etc. so it’s a lot more planning to try and stay close to those, Uber everywhere, for me to find locations to eat or get to a grocery store and stay somewhere with a kitchen because I have food allergies (which Royal can accommodate for the most part) and then find reputable tour companies. Been thinking of trying to find a travel agent to help with this. I don’t totally agree with everyone saying room placement makes a difference- for some it may but we always stay low and mid ship (which is always an up charge) and i still feel so much movement. On our last Alaska cruise our pool was closed unless we were docked and they had sickness bags out on the railings (seasoned cruisers say that’s how you KNOW it’s choppy) and many people were missing at dinners probably not feeling well. Peppermint capsules help me a lot, sour candies help a lot with motion sickness. But yeah I wouldn’t take my Alaska trip back at all it was incredible. We did ATVs icy straight point and it was amazing, our tour guide was native Klingkit (spelling?) tribe and was so fascinating to hear how the island had been throughout generations. We had fun shopping in Sitka and staying downtown and in Juneau we toured the glacier and went to a salmon bake. We also visited the shops, the best book store, took the tram up to see mountains. Creek street shopping was amazing and I got an Alaskan rose gold quartz ring I’ll always cherish and my husband got a mined nugget on a chain. I also got a fair isle sweater at a boutique I’ve loved for years. We also got to watch seals, otters, bears, a bald eagle and whales and we never even paid for a wildlife tour it was just natural. It was the most amazing vacation and I just don’t know what will someday top it! I’m dying to do the cruise from Boston and see prince Edward island
Love seeing your travel videos. We have traveled extensively and part of that has been about 15 cruises. I have always enjoyed cruising, we’ve been to the Caribbean , Latin America, The Orient, Hawaii Europe and have had so many great experiences. Most of our cruises have been with Royal Caribbean. The best ones were with Disney because the service is incredible, the restaurants and food amazing. Even if you don’t have children, a Disney cruise is great for adults too. I use a lot of my time at sea just relaxing, reading. We have met so many interesting people. 😄❤️
I cruise every year but have never done any from the west coast to be in the Pacific Ocean. I’ve heard though, that the water is choppier than in the Atlantic Ocean going to Caribbean destinations. That’s probably why you felt it so much more than your last cruise. On top of the fact that being a kid last time you were just too excited to care about the motion 😂
I think the kids definitely feel safe with you. I loveeee the motion on cruise ships, but I’ve been on like 5 cruises in my life and Alaska has the worst waters by far. That was the only cruise I’ve been on where people were falling over and skipping meals because of the motion sickness 😂 Still such an amazing cruise! I’m behind but I hope you enjoyed yourself either way!
My first cruise the water was REALLY choppy. We felt the boat move the whole trip. I had to wear sea sickness patches. Second cruise. Nothing. Didn’t feel it move and didn’t need the patches.
I've slept through a fire alarm so I'm a very deep sleeper 😅 I now tell any roommates/significant other etc. that they have to wake me up if there's a fire 😅
I’ve never been on a cruise, but I do know as an adult I’ve developed motion sickness that I didn’t experience as a kid, so it’s plausible that you just weren’t effected the same as a kid.
I work at the Port of Seattle and was hoping to see you all! I work in shipping, but have zero desire to ever take a cruise as well. FYI - your check-in time is really just a suggestion. You can show up anytime before doors close (at least in Seattle).
Girl, when you were on the deck when it was raining..... you made my anxiety go through the roof. The only thing i could think about it slipping and falling during a wave and sliding to the edge of the deck and breaking the glass barrier and into the ocean I would go... nooooooo thanks..

I just got back from a cruise and I wanted to kiss the ground. I was so irrationally terrified we would sink. The nights were the worst, I had to drink to get to sleep then inevitably woke up at 3am thinking about my kids and I all drowning. Thank you for posting this!
The Caribbean seas are very smooth-like glass…depending on the time of year. Leaving out of Seattle, the water is rough…really rough! Smoother waters when you leave from Vancouver, but we love Seattle. The Sheraton near Pike’s is a great location. Walking distance to Pike’s and a TARGET! 😂 We love cruising and I also don’t do buffets either… It’s my time to read, read, read! ❤
Sarah, you are to funny, nothing is going to happen, we were on a cruise in 2018 when the ship ran aground, talk about panic, I was thinking of the Titanic, all I could imagine is me jumping in a life boat before the ship started to sink, LOL luckily, we were pulled off the reef the ship hit after 12 plus hours and made our way back to Boston Port, I hope you enjoyed that cruise, Alaska is beautiful!
My husband and I went on our first cruise in 2022 and we LOVED it. I have severe anxiety, so I was shocked how much I enjoyed it. We have another planned for 2024 going to Labadee, Dominican Republic and CoCoCay!

All in - it was over $10k. So definitely not cheap for an Alaskan cruise. I do think the Caribbean ones are a lot more affordable if you don’t do the newest ships.

I was in the Seattle Airport on the 17th of July was going from gate 9 to gate 8...there was a place to eat inbetween...I fell,something sticky, and broke my shoulder in 4 places! I was coming back from fairbanks Alaska where my middle daughter hubby is stationed. I was alone, going to Atlanta where my son lives, I live north of Atlanta almost to the Tennessee line, was gonna stay with my son a couples days ,but....sister work out I hope yall had a great time ❤
I don't care if it's summer, the only thing i picture in my head when i hear Alaska is tundras and a seal trapped in a block of ice. Id be getting winter jackets for such a trip.
Personally - I hate cruises. I don't like feeling like I can bail out of a place if I need to so the idea of being stuck on a ship multiple days is absolutely abhorrent to me.
On the larger ships, they always end up doing those medical calls over the intercom. We have had helicopters land on our ship to take people to the hospital. Enjoy the cruise, i love them !
That’s what happened on ours as well, a helicopter landed in the ship and took the woman to shore. Her husband and kids stayed on the ship, so I’m assuming she was okay in the end.

If you’re in the centre of the boat you don’t feel it as much. But if your towards the front or back you will definitely feel the movement more.

I’ve never been on a cruise, but I do know as an adult I’ve developed motion sickness that I didn’t experience as a kid, so it’s plausible that you just weren’t effected the same as a kid.

I work at the Port of Seattle and was hoping to see you all! I work in shipping, but have zero desire to ever take a cruise as well. FYI - your check-in time is really just a suggestion. You can show up anytime before doors close (at least in Seattle).
Girl, when you were on the deck when it was raining..... you made my anxiety go through the roof. The only thing i could think about it slipping and falling during a wave and sliding to the edge of the deck and breaking the glass barrier and into the ocean I would go... nooooooo thanks..

I just got back from a cruise and I wanted to kiss the ground. I was so irrationally terrified we would sink. The nights were the worst, I had to drink to get to sleep then inevitably woke up at 3am thinking about my kids and I all drowning. Thank you for posting this!
The Caribbean seas are very smooth-like glass…depending on the time of year. Leaving out of Seattle, the water is rough…really rough!
Smoother waters when you leave from Vancouver, but we love Seattle. The Sheraton near Pike’s is a great location. Walking distance to Pike’s and a TARGET! 😂
We love cruising and I also don’t do buffets either…

Sarah, you are to funny, nothing is going to happen, we were on a cruise in 2018 when the ship ran aground, talk about panic, I was thinking of the Titanic, all I could imagine is me jumping in a life boat before the ship started to sink, LOL luckily, we were pulled off the reef the ship hit after 12 plus hours and made our way back to Boston Port, I hope you enjoyed that cruise, Alaska is beautiful!

you're on Quantum!! that ship does 6 months for Alaska & 6 months in Australia. I was on her 1st Australian sailing last November. Great ship!
My husband and I went on our first cruise in 2022 and we LOVED it. I have severe anxiety, so I was shocked how much I enjoyed it. We have another planned for 2024 going to Labadee, Dominican Republic and CoCoCay!
Labadee is one of the coolest places I’ve ever been! And I really want to take the kids to CoCoCay, it’s look so fun - enjoy!

All in - it was over $10k. So definitely not cheap for an Alaskan cruise. I do think the Caribbean ones are a lot more affordable if you don’t do the newest ships.

I have to admit...the last few days I was experiencing some SRV vlog withdrawal lol. Needless to say I was excited to see a new upload. Hope your trip went well and you settled in! If I ever went on a cruise I can definitely see myself parking my butt on a deck and getting lost in some sea related romance reads.

I just got back from a royal Caribbean cruise we did the Transatlantic one... My job takes me on a cruise every year. 😊 I hope to do an Alaskan one soon!

I was in the Seattle Airport on the 17th of July was going from gate 9 to gate 8...there was a place to eat inbetween...I fell,something sticky, and broke my shoulder in 4 places! I was coming back from fairbanks Alaska where my middle daughter hubby is stationed. I was alone, going to Atlanta where my son lives, I live north of Atlanta almost to the Tennessee line, was gonna stay with my son a couples days ,but....sister work out I hope yall had a great time ❤
I don't care if it's summer, the only thing i picture in my head when i hear Alaska is tundras and a seal trapped in a block of ice. Id be getting winter jackets for such a trip.

Personally - I hate cruises. I don't like feeling like I can bail out of a place if I need to so the idea of being stuck on a ship multiple days is absolutely abhorrent to me.
I miss Alaska! We lived there for 3 years. Until the army moved us the beginning this year
On the larger ships, they always end up doing those medical calls over the intercom. We have had helicopters land on our ship to take people to the hospital. Enjoy the cruise, i love them !
That’s what happened on ours as well, a helicopter landed in the ship and took the woman to shore. Her husband and kids stayed on the ship, so I’m assuming she was okay in the end.
