So insightful. I always refer back to your homeschool videos. I’ve prayed and prayed all summer for my 5 yr old little girl about the decision to homeschool or send her to public school. Sending her to public school has just never felt like the right move and God’s put it in my heart to start this journey. This video helps so so much. I love how you go over everything. Thank you!!
I love Mom Delights RUclips channel. She has so many great resources and really makes the Charlotte mason method attainable for moms. I think people forget that CM taught a class and I’m not even sure she had children. So sometimes things seem a bit over the top. I love gaining wisdom from all the older wiser moms! Sarah Mackenzie and Pam Barnhill are my go to for assurance.
It’s been so cool to watch your journey into homeschooling because I am in such a similar place with my kids and it really does just change your whole outlook on your family time! I no longer feel like I dread days or am just trying to get to quiet time, I truly enjoy the aspect of teaching and using all the moments in a day for learning! I love this type of content , thanks for sharing it 🤗
Today my friend who does home school throughout the year too shared that for their kids every time they would move up in grade or curriculum, they would consider that their first day of school and kick it off with a celebration cake or celebration cake that they’ve “graduated”🎂🤣 Thought this was such a cute idea because it makes it so special for them and these kiddos look forward to their cake. I plan to do some form of this too. This was their version of a first day of school/graduation celebration. My kids are a year behind yours and love seeing all the things homeschool!
My daughter just started kindergarten this week at a private school. We worked together on the Math Level K TGTB this summer. We both loved it! I agree with you-the stories in the curriculum are fantastic. We made our own math box and it’s been perfect. I can’t believe they have it in their site for free printable!
Loved how in depth this was! We did the new Good And Beautiful Kindergarten Prep book this summer and loved it so we’re going with their level k language arts. I really wanted to do AAR but it’s a lot more money than I wanted to spend our first year homeschooling so we’ll see!
Thank you for sharing!! I’m considering AAR as well. My son is about a year behind your girls so I love seeing the stuff you share. We are doing the 100 easy lessons of reading right now and we really like it. Please keep sharing homeschool ideas because it’s so helpful!
I also felt the same about the GATB Level K Primer. Had to do the extension pack before we moved to Level K, which I found a bit frustrating being my first time homeschooling, felt like I didn't do enough or that there was something missing for us. The extension was just enough and we're doing well with the Level K (old version). Still researching the revised Level 1 to see if it's what we'll continue with. Thank you for helping me feel reassured and sharing some new ideas. I was also feeling some self pressure about back to school when we are year round. we just ended our math curriculum so I decided that was the last day of K, did some time capsule activities, and the following day was the first day of 1st grade. I had the board for pictures, did balloons, donuts, music, and we had a little party and did school. Made a big deal of it and we all loved it so much. The charter school insight is really interesting, I'll need to look more into that, especially for the funding part. Always like learning about the different activities, electives, music, co-op and group things. Thanks so much!!
Great info & inspo. Thank you! I’m using Let’s play kindergarten (covers literacy, math and fine/gross motor skills) by Let’s play school, handwriting curriculum from teachers pay teachers and unit studies for science, history, geography, etc. My son is a kinesthetic learner and does best with hands on learning. We’re having a great time. And I’m learning not to do too much and slow down! Lol
We’ve use the good in the beautiful for five years, this will be our sixth. It’s my second time using their kindergarten curriculum, and so far the new addition is great. To be honest, I wasn’t crazy about the level K primer, or the kindergarten prep course, but the kindergarten courses are much better
New to your channel and enjoyed hearing about how you homeschool. Is the Charter program you use nation wide or just local to you? I’d love more information on that type of program if you don’t mind sharing. It’s nice you’re able to choose the curriculum and pace your kids do schoolwork, but also get funding to help with the cost!! Thank you for sharing 😊
Ahh I’m so excited for this video! I’m also homeschooling my kindergartner and we are using All About Reading!! I actually have been here way before we both had our girls, it’s so fun to grow along side into these rolls with you Kendra!! Ok back to viewing the video 😊
I might be ahead of myself lol but.. Can you please share where you got the white shelving thing from that you store your AAR stuff? Also… we have that Fun with Nature book that I planned to use towards science curriculum. My main focus is math and AAR for her though.
Me again lol … do you think it’s worth buying the games? I have everything but couldn’t get into buying the games with all the money spent already for something not required lol
Would you be willing to share more about what you do with owen in terms of teaching/learning? I realize you aren’t doing super structured stuff with him yet, but as you begin doing more with him, I’d love to hear about your ideas!
Thank you for this video! We just started a few weeks ago. I've been questioning if I'm doing enough "extra stuff" (crafts, unit studies). We are loving AAR too! Math W Confidence is great curriculum if you ever feel the need to try something else.
I truly could have written this comment start to finish! We are using AAR level one and Kindergarten Math with Confidence. Those will be our main daily focus. How were im wondering how to fit in other things as you mentioned. I considered themes for the week or 2 weeks and then even including her baby brother on the themes too. I just don’t know what kindergarten level would look like with themes. For instance “things that go” or “my community”
So for the Abeka Number Skills K5, the book that you have is a student workbook only. Abeka has separate homeschool lesson plans. That is really the meat of the curriculum. That's where the teaching is - in the curriculum lesson plans. You really need both to have a comprehensive math curriculum. It's just a difference of Abeka having a teacher book and a student book and TGTB having it all in one.
Lucy yes i agree about needing to use the teacher manuel. I'm using it now for Abeka 1st grade Language Arts and it's so helpful! It's a very solid, tried and true program that spirals and is straight to the point, the concepts really stick with learners, that's why we love using it.

We don’t stop either and I’m like hey we’re here too lol seeing all the pics makes me feel a bit left out but then I reminded it’s ok!!

You have a really nice homeschool spot. I love that floral wall ♥️
Thanks for sharing all these specific resources! 💕😊
For math I'm loving math with confidence! My son loves it. We also enjoy explode the code.
Thank you for sharing! I love watching your videos of homeschool ❤️ my daughter is going to be 4 and gathering as much knowledge for when it’s time!

Teaching From Rest is my favorite book. I read it several times a year 😂
Where did you find the printables for your morning menu?
How did you find out info about the charter
👍👍👍👍
Is Durenda Wilson a Christian/use a Christian worldview?
yes
