This is fantastic. Its the first time I've heard the term 'range anxiety' but makes total sense! I have a 1980 clubman estate that I'm contemplating converting to electric so your project has been a wealth of information. Thanks so much for taking the time to share it with us.
As an Automatic Guru havve you ever heard of a simple solution to a 1978 AP not reversing but forward gears all working correctly? put in reverse nothing happens at all almost like having an additional neutral? Thanks for any suggestions :)
Could be a couple of things, first thing to check is the gear shifter selector, at the engine end, sometimes they slip out of position, might need to be pulled back through, and use the neutral position to set the other gears, depending on the mileage of the car it could also be the reverse clutch in the gear box, in both cases I'm assuming that your oil pressure is good and the oil valves in the gear box are working fine.
@@classicminiculture9800 Thanks for the reply! Yes it's a 1978 and only done 14500 miles and has good oil pressure, all the forward gears work fine. I would like to keep the original AP engine and gearbox as they are normally ripped out for a manual and automatic are getting pretty rare now 😉
How have I only just found your channel!? I really do like the estates especially as I could put my canyon on the top! Check out my labour of love on my channel thanks Kevin
