WHICH DISH do you want to try the most? If I could have one of them right now, I'd probably go for the Mackerel Sushi. Simple, but bloody delicious. Since filming this video, I've found myself ordering it every time I go for sushi.
Abroad in Japan I usually order mackerel sushi when I go out for sushi, but mind you, I don't live in Japan so it's not nearly as quality as that looks. That being said, I would probably try the ramen, because come on... butter and curry in a delicious pork ramen? I have to. But it does look a bit like obesity in a bowl.
Wow! I was born in the Aomori! I'm so happy that a foreigner introduce my hometown! Surely, the Aomori is harsh place to live. But there is the Aomori's ramen noodles which everyone can't eat except here. By all means, please come to Aomori prefecture if you come to Japan.
Watching this again, I think back to when I first watched this, and where I was at in my life. Feeling so hungry, and so broke that I couldn't really afford any food other than potatoes and mushrooms, or occasionally ground pork if it was on sale, I remember crying at how good that food looked. Feeling incredibly grateful that I survived that time and am in a much better place now.
I un-ironically think Natsuki describing the spicy broth as "Hot Dancing" was brilliant. His descriptions of the taste of food are rich with visual imagery. Like when he described Maezawa Beef like a "Slow River" and "Calm Lake". Soul of a poet! ...and justice.
@@pablodavidclavijo4609 Because of a certain scene in Tampopo, I'd never been able to eat it, even if someone said it was the most heavenly thing on earth. I hide my eyes every time that scene unfolds. RIP Turtle.
After having watched Natsuki the movie, I have a renewed appreciation for his appearance in this video. To help a friend make a video, he drove 12 hours away from his 15-hr/day work schedule. He looked visibly exhausted and still tried to be a good host and entertain us. Mad respect and love for Natsuki.

Wow! That restaurant at 8:45 looks like cafe in anime called "Flying witch". After some googling I found out that I was right. The cafe from anime was modeled after that building.
Came upon your videos by accident, while exploring the wonders of You-Tube. Now I cannot get enough of them. Its not just because I'm a fan of Japanese culture, food etc. But because you make them so enjoyable to watch. Keep up the good work!
I'd like to hear Chris actually using japanese. The videos are cut in a way that we might see him say a word or two but never do we hear an actual conversation or anything more than a "domo" or "arigatou". I might just be weird tho, I like languages... :'(

Seeing that giant market made me think; more than going out to eat in Japan, I would probably buy some quality ingredients and just learn to cook an array of dishes while I'm there, since I love to cook anyway. That way, when I go home, I can eat most of them again, within reason (because I don't live next to the sea, so a variety of fresh fish is hard to come by). Anyway, thanks for introducing us to more delicious looking Japanese food. Now I'm going to go eat some cereal, I guess...
