- Items Needed:
Stud finder
2x4 - Qty: 6 (Need to measure wall for exact amount)
4x8 plywood with 1 finished side - Qty: 1 to 2, depending on how large your wall will be
#9 2-3/4 construction screws (For frame build-out)
10x3 wood screws (to fasten climbing wall to studs)
Rock Climbing Holds (amzn.to/3awbrxK) We purchased 2 boxes
Self-Adhesive Screw Hole Stickers (amzn.to/3axM5Q8)
Use stud finder to locate wall studs
Measure and cut 2x4s according to size needed for wall frame
Nail 2x4s to wall stud to create frame (Be sure to point a nail in the corners of the 2x4s (See video for more info)
Cut plywood if necessary and don't forget to sand the edges
Paint Plywood (optional)
Mark where your 2x4s will be on the plywood (Don't make our mistake, see video)
Set and space out rock holds (Use a pencil to circle the two holes inside the rock hold) Also make sure you put the holds close enough so that the kids can reach them
Take a pic of where you've placed the rock holds
Remove rock holds and drill holes in plywood (This is from the Rock Holds seller "We usually use a 3/8" - 1/4 drill bit to pre-drill the holes. The 3/8" hole will provide a very tight snug fit to the bolt while the 1/4" hole will allow for a little more play and adjustment while installing the holds.)
Flip over plywood and then sand away any rough pieces of wood
Hammer the T-Nut into the back of the plywood
Flip plywood back over and then start placing the rock holds back in the designated places
Use allen wrench to tighten bolts or be like my husband and use a drill
Assemble plywood to frame. Add enough screws until you're assured that wall is stable and secured
PLEASE NOTE: We are not experts. Build at your own risk
