My Friend Ted went through Army basic with the M-14 and never gave it up. My memory of the M-16A1 was that no matter how much you cleaned it it mis fired on the range and heated up cooking off rounds. It just attracted dirt and you could hear it in the action moving the bolt. The Drill sergeants told us in a war grab an AK-47 and familiarized us with it. " its all politics privates all politics!" 😮
GI’s were writing home for lubricant? 🙃
In substance, it was designed to fire with one type of powder and for a sustained period of time, US soldiers were issued ammunition manufactured with the exact wrong type of powder which caused it to jam.
I always was told that the original firing chamber was shit, so it was refitted with chrome plating to keep it clean
I've read a little about rifle "twist rates" and haven't read anything about fast twist rates negatively affecting short distance accuracy/effectiveness. Any information on this would be greatly appreciated.
Would that be classified as friendly fire?
