Ok. U keep thinking that folks. We had no place in Vietnam where my uncle served and no place in last 2 wars after that. Look how we left Afghanistan. I was asked who was the reporter. It was Clete Roberts who'd covered WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He also played a reporter in the TV show MASH. In fact, he ends that series with a really moving monologue. When I met him, he was working at LA PBS outlet, KCET and we hit it off. He agreed to do this for nothing. The director was Ian Masters who was and still is a journalist, catch his Background Briefing podcast, who produced documentaries and wrote screenplays. Our goal was to produce a documentary about war reporters. I tried to sell it for years to no avail. Our batch of interviews just sat in a box. I finally decided to pull them out and post them on RUclips. I'm glad to see that people are watching.
Thank you very much for posting these valuable interviews for the benefit of the public. As a former journalist myself, I find these interviews are filling the gaps of missing context and disinformation in the many wars we have been following in the world, especially in Southern Africa.

CIA: We proudly predict that the fallout in 2021 will be even bigger than the BS in Saigon…. Reporter: What? CIA: You won’t be around to see it… but Afghanistan is a bop!
Amazing! I've never seen a video of McGehee - I love his book though and heard some great talks. Thanks - look forward to seeing what else you have on your channel.
Very interesting! My father told me once, before he passed, that if we do our job well no one will know. Look at who is the new head of the NRA, Oliver North Reagan's right hand CIA operative working from the basement of the White House during the Nicaraguan war.

Likely 1983 when his book was released. The CIA Reading Room has a transcript of his interview on The Today Show that covers similar points: "INTERVIEW WITH RALPH MCGEHEE"
It was March 1983 during the Vietnam War Reconsidered conference at the University of Southern California (USC) a few months after the 10th anniversary of the agreement to end the War. The interviews were conducted during the conference that attracted journalists, diplomats, former CIA officers, US military personnel and others who came to LA to discuss their experiences and assessments about the War.
@@KingRoseArchives I was guessing early to mid 80s. McGehee looks considerably younger. He has to be in his 80's. Don't know his actual age, but I believe he's still alive.
He basically called the CIA a propaganda machine, which is relevant even to this day.

He's been on several documentaries I believe. One was called "Secrets of the CIA" I think. It's on RUclips.
In the interview with John Stockwell and Frank Snepp they describes how he would plant stories in the press

Most dispositive indeed!! And profoundly relevant to our current times!

3.6k views? There must be some information in the video that RUclips doesn't want to reach the masses.

Yeah that dude is a slimy grifter.
The CIA will buy movie scripts and book rights to prevent certain information getting out to the public.
