    "feeling like it" .. I totally get what the speaker means and I say it is good advice for most people. I just want to point out that in certain circumstances, bulldozing over feelings in order to do what "needs to be done", is not the way if the person is facing deeper issues. Many years ago, a life coach kept telling me that I shouldn't be putting feelings before what needs to be done. She expected me to ignore my feelings and do the needed work. She never addressed why I felt the way I did, or why I felt the resistance to do the work. I actually ended up feeling even more depressed after every coaching session with her and became even more immobile. Eventually, I found a psychotherapist who has more compassion and wisdom than that life coach, and she was able to unravel and heal some very deep issues (childhood traumas) in me. After years of healing work, **NOW** I can FINALLY put what needs to be done, over "feeling like it".,,, and get into my rhythm of life!

    Choices - this reminds me of the book by Shad Helmstetter called choices.
    We are infinite choice-makers and everything in a choice even not choosing.
    "You may think that in life a lot of things happen to you along the way. The truth is, in life, you happen to a lot of things along the way."
    My Whole Life - You Would - I Did, there's quite a bit of contrast between those two statements.
    Be the BEST VERSION OF MYSELF!!
    ? for Heros? How can I do the most and give my best self every day.
    What do my feelings have to do with anything anyway? Jump and the net will appear, grow your wings on the way down. If you're waiting to grow wings you'll never get started.
    What needs to be done now?
    Silence is magic.
    It's the space between the bars that creates the prison.
    Silence is golden.
    Thanks, Brian.
    Keep Pushing.

    This idea of "The best version" of ourselves is something I have it in my mind every single day. However, I cannot always use it, in the sense that I do no always make my everyday choices from at place, from that place of "The best version of myself". I have the bigger picture in my mind and I know where I want to go. But I sometimes find myself not making the choices that will lead me quicker to my destination. Now that I listen to myself, I realize that I am being too hard with myself. I do not need to be always running, right? It feels like a part of me is still a perfectionist.... I need to find my rhythms and not criticize myself in a hard way by making nasty comments about not going fast enough or about how other people are ahead of me... I need to find a balance and respect my rhythms!

    Hey Brian excellent video this one, supermotivation!
    That first about choices reminds me of Arnold's Schwarzenegger's biography book, where he said that when a choice appeared to him about his work or some fear or everything productive, he said always YES and took the path of completing this task. :) Have a great day Brian!

    Absolutely amazing video, I (and I think many) would love if you left the whole blackboard with you of shot so I could screenshot as the way you teach so efficient, you could also have your website in the right hand corner so if people posted this on social media like Instagram you would attract more viewers and like minded potential customers, just an idea. Love your work always so inspiring

    Did not like the video and book at all. He does not even define what the "best" version of ourselves is. Is it beeing great at work, beeing a good husband and father, beeing an artist, helping others? The topics are really shallow.

    • @HeroicBrian
      @HeroicBrian  9 лет назад +1

      ***** What does the-best-version-of-yourself mean for YOU? That's the only thing that matters.
      Here's one way Matthew puts it: “This is what I do know: You are capable of incredible things-things you have not even begun to imagine or believe in. Infinite possibilities are all around you, waiting to be explored, appreciated, grasped, and celebrated. You are using only a fraction of your potential . . . and that is a beautiful and exciting truth.
      Every day you make hundreds of decisions. Some of those decisions help you become the-best-version-of-yourself, and others don’t. Life is a choice. Become a great decision maker and you will master the art of living. With each decision, simply ask: What will help me to become the-best-version-of-myself? Make this a constant part of your inner dialogue and you will become a fabulous decision maker-and live a life uncommon.”

    • @ThatGuy-123
      @ThatGuy-123 9 лет назад +1

      ***** Well, thanks for the detailed response. Let me say that I appreciate your book reviews even though I might disagree on the statements in some books.
      I don't like this book because it appears to be a standard motivational "you can do anything if you work hard and think positive" book. Unfortunately, reality is a bit more complicated than that. Not everyone can become a great athlete, a billionaire or president. Not everything in life is under our control. We have to deal with the conditions that we are living in.
      I also don't like the idea that there is some kind of "best" version of myself. That is an illusion. It just creates frustration because it says that I am never good enough right now and I need to become better, whatever that means. There only is the version of myself there is now. There also is no "best" choice in life. There are just choices that lead to different outcomes. The violine player may be a top violinist but shitty at everything else.

    • @HeroicBrian
      @HeroicBrian  9 лет назад +1

      ***** All this is (obviously) better discussed over a cup of tea (or your preferred beverage :) but quick thoughts before I report for a Saturday morning adventure with my son:
      Have you read the book? It's awesome and doesn't say what you are saying it says. You're accusing the author of oversimplifying things and, ahem, seem to be doing that yourself. OF COURSE reality is much more complicated than what you stated. ;)
      Part 2 re: your best self vs. your current self: It's just as big of an illusion to pretend that there's *only* this version of you. It's, as always, "yes, and." There's you who you are right now. Need to accept that 100%. And there's the you you have the potential to become. If we want to optimize and actualize (obviously not required--we can choose to be grumpy and unhappy and stagnant ;), then it's wise to realize that every moment offers us a choice to either step forward into the next best version of ourselves or just criticize + complain like we always we do.
      Happy Saturday to you, good sir!
