my dad works in classical music, and before the pandemic, he'd bring me to the conservatory and i got to watch them rehearse.
i really liked this playlist bc a lot of these were the things I'd hear when I'd hang around in the conservatory.
specifically pas de deux- on Christmas, they'd do the nutcracker suite, and i remember hiding in the orchestra pit before the lights would dim. and when pas de deux would come on, it's like the whole world would stop; as i was in between the orchestra and the stage, and seeing the sugarplum fairy dance away.

i love that as well! because as a musician ive seen lots of people (that play or just like to listen to classical music) full on develop a superiority complex because the pieces they enjoy are not widely known, calling the rest uncultured, but at the same tiime heavily gatekeep those artists and the classical music genre as a whole. I think its great how such playlists are out there for everyone to enjoy, and how they're attracting much desired attention from a wide and diverse audience:)

You look down from your bedroom's balcony down at the palace's garden. The tulips are in full bloom and you see the swathes of pink and yellow across the garden, and red roses barely budding speckle alongside the stone path.
You check the time of day on the antique clock in your room and determine you have an hour or so before you must go upstairs to your lessons. You lift the silken fabric of your meringue (yellowish cream) colored dress and rush outside of your room, through the hallway, down the marble staircase and through the side doors of the palace, where only esteemed guests and you, and the rest of your immediate and extended family go through. You bump into a maid, Dia, on your way out and you hastily apologize she looks surprised and smiles shaking her head, though you don't see this because you are already out the door. You have always been told to not apologize or thank the servants and some palace nobles young and old scorned you (privately of course, none would dare insult Her Highness publicly) for doing so but you didn't notice and always stayed grateful.
The fresh late spring breeze welcomes you with all of it's loveliness. The sun shines beautifully above and the sky is a bright blue, indicating that indeed, summer is near. As you walk closer to the nectar filled flowers, your ornate and slightly heeled shoes tapping on the grey stone path, a iridensant hummingbird flits in front of you with its blurry green wings and tiny magenta (deep purplish pink) body, your eyes grow wide in curiosity and wonder and you smile at the little creature. Youholld out your hand ever so slowly but it flitts away as quick as it had come. You smile a bit sadly and as your hand drops to your side and you watch the shining bird fly away into the rest of the garden. Within a few more moments your joy is restored as a breeze carries the airy and sweet scent of honeysuckle and cherryblossomes your way and you bound forward with a spring in your step, skipping along the lovely path of the ethereal garden.

Even as he left into the night, the loud and abrupt movement he made was intentional. He left the ring intentionally, you were certain of that. He was an assassin and assassins would never leave something so important behind.
You kept the ring all this time and wonder if he left the sun ring in hopes that you would join him, to find each other again.

Tchaikovsky always reaches the deepest, most guarded corners of our cynical hearts with his music. Very few other composers have that same effect, on me at least. His pieces are so beautiful and sad and joyful all at the same time.

The garden. A place I've always enjoyed being in. A place where I could take a break from my duties as a princess. I take a deep breath and let the flowery fragrance of the garden rest within me.
I sit down on the bench, the one just beside the rose bushes, and let my shoulders relax. I close my eyes, wondering what life would have been like if I wasn't a princess. And before I knew it, I found myself in a dream.
I was running around in a field of flowers, laughing without a care in the world. How I wish to be like that. I laid down within the bed of flowers, letting the sun shine on my body. This moment felt like an eternity.
The calls of my ladies in waiting suddenly woke me from my slumber. Well, that moment was fun while it lasted. I stood up, taking another deep breath. Straightening my body, head tilted up, I head towards the sounds of my ladies in waiting.

You rest peaceful on the ground the softness of your blanket comforts you. The grass swaying gently hypothesise you.
You close your eyes for a spilt moment you feel a slight tickle on your nose you laugh expecting to see your pet rabbit infornt of you but to your surprise a feather rest on the tip of your you stare in amazement as you study it the feather was clear like glass but was still as light as a feather it held swirls of blues and pinks and was adorned with pearls and glitter .
You sat up and held it to the sun the more you moved it the more colours you saw. You peered down to your pale purple dress, as a stream of beautiful colours appeared on it. You figured it was the feather work, you stared around expecting to see some elegent bird of course the feather would own to some animal like that!
You got up and searched the fountain the water trickled down slowly you peered into the water you saw your eyes grow big in your reflection as you saw a beautiful crystal it seemed to be similar to the feather your fished for it and picked it up it shone brightly the spring sunlight
You walked back to your blanket and sighed you couldn't find the bird of which the feather owned to. You played with the bows and lace on your dress when all of a sudden streams of beautiful colours appeared on your dress you gasped and shot your head up expecting to see the bird you were looking for you were to late you had only seen a glimpse of the tail of the bird a crystal hanged on the end similar to the one you had found a few months ago.
You pouted upset you couldn't find the bird that's when you had realised a letter had fallen from the the birds tail you started to read it
"Dear princess of the floral Hills I ask of you to-
"Time for lunch" your maid had called you. "Yes I'll be right there" you answered.
You quickly read the end of the letter
"I ask of you to arrive here the same time as tomorrow you will finally meet me "- The moon shard bird
Your heart beet in excitement and you ran inside quickly you couldn't wait for tomorrow!

As I rested upon nature's green duvet that had been carefully clipped to not irritate my skin, I dreamed of the future.
A slicing sound shattered the jeers and excitement of plebians. My head deftly plodding into the artisan wicker basket.
To my left, the habsburg chin of one of my peers. Up ahead the stump of my remaining delicate neck, soundlessly gurgling the red ichor, not unlike one of Father's banquet chocolat fountains. Woe it be to not dip a strawberry one final time to savour its sweetness and juices upon my lips.
What a bizzare dream? Must be the allergies. I will have the head of the gardening serf who has not prepared the grounds adequately for my mid-morning nap.

Being royalty comes with a price. The sacrifice is autonomy and representative responsibility is the burden. One has to think and act in terms of what is good for the nation not self. Your relationships, habits of daily living, everything is governed by the fact that you belong to your country....not the other way around....

It was only a look- a single glance. But oh, what a single glance into those deep, quiet, blue like the meridian eyes could do. One single look, and I was all at once reminded of why I had loved him. Of why it was him, of why it had always been and would always be him. All at once, I broke away from the cold arm I was linked with.
Lifting up the vivacious layers of my dress, I caterwauled to his side, a lady of passion and remembrance. All at once, I felt at home once more- a feeling I seldom recalled now that those days of lazy June afternoons had come and passed. A feeling I had seldom felt without him- my one and my only.
And as it seemed, he recalled those memories too. Those daydreams of lavender fields and dandelions and buttercup-yellow sun rays upon our shoulders. The daydreams that had not been daydreams at all- the stories of laughter and hands held tight that we had created for ourselves, and ourselves alone. We had made them come true. And without the help of any outside force. For, not just any outside force could feel our love. The compelling gravitational pull we felt whenever we were around each other, and thus even eons apart we could feel the light tugging of our heartstrings, the yearning to return to one another's arms and embrace as warmly as we had the first day we had met.
His arms clasped tight around my waistline, and mine his. I was home. We both were home. No more did we fear of the wandering eyes of the disdainful public. No more did we worry for the discretion of our passion, of our fire that we both tenderly took care of even whilst one was far from the other.
His hand molded around my face, his tender touch sending shoots of warmth through my face as his eyes met with mine. His quiet, blue like the meridian eyes. The ones I had grown so accustomed to staring into for hours upon end under the shade of a watchful old oak tree, kind and forgiving. Silent and beautiful.
"Now," his voice was at a whisper, sending calming ripples through the air. No one else could hear them, however. Only I had the trained ear to hear of his beckoning, the emotional undertone in his words.
"We shan't make a scene," there it was again. But I pressed closer, my head to his chest as it belonged there. I knew what would come next, I had grown accustomed to our fate. We could never be together, always two worlds apart, separated by silly things as virtues and blood. Nevertheless, for those few split seconds that felt as though they were an eternity, I was home once more. Calm in the delicate loving embrace of my lover, never to fear for anything again.

How lovely and pure this particular playlist is someone me imagine I’m in the royal garden starring at the blue sky with white fluffy clouds just me and nature the wind blowing through my hair and the sound of horses clopping down the roads such a lovely scenario that I wish would happen in my everyday life. ❤
Sometimes, I just wish that I could travel back in time, and attend these royal balls, and see what life was like back in the olden days, during the Dynasty's in China, and the Roman Empire. Gosh, it makes me feel so empty inside, but these playlists help my imagination. These playlists is MY time travel machine. Thank you, for your all the time and effort you put into these playlists. I appreciate you so much.

I think of the long, beautiful, satin gowns they wear
With the corresponding hats and shoes and ribbons and bows
I think of their perfect makeup
With the small, heart shaped, red lips and the subtle pink blush on their cheeks
I think of long, luscious curly hair
That magically never seems to frizz
Just like history and Hollywood made it out to be
But as I listen to this playlist and try imagining myself as a princess
I don't imagine their picture perfect appearance
(my hair frizzes too much, my lips are too big, and my bosom isn't ample)
Instead, I imagine having their poise, their grace
Their inevitable power
And what I could do with it
(though, I won't be complaining about the luxury)
If I was a princess,
I would prepare myself to be the best queen I could be to my people
I would use my influence to do good
To be good
(god knows we know more of that)
To have my own garden would be oh so wonderful too
A nice, peaceful retreat at the end of the day

The picture you see, one of the princesses in the picture lived in a castle that I visited in France. So magical. You could see all the clothes that you see in this picture (the actual ones!!!) and trust me they are even better in real life.

I was searching themes that could fit a character to set me in the right atmosphere when I’m writing. (Yes, I write stories in my spare time too.)
It is a tad complicated. She is a side character. She is the childhood friend of my Byronic-like hero. Her role is to create an opportunity for the other characters to learn about the hero's past in order to understand him better since he is quite secretive. But I decided to give her more importance.
Put briefly, her personality is that of a Princess stereotype and I based her story on the idea of a fairytale that goes horribly wrong. She starts as a bit of an oddball, full of life, always fantasizing, friendly. However after the fairytale turns into a nightmare she becomes broken... then one day, she is saved by the main antagonist whom she progressively considers her long-awaited Prince Charming (he is not and shit happens).
Anyway I needed songs that could create the atmosphere of the MC's childhood with her and others for her regaining hope as she falls in love.
Some tracks fit so I’m quite glad. If any of you have any suggestions, I’m interested ^^

Debussy's Deux Arabesque, No. 1 always reminds me of butterflies.
Ravel's Une Barque Sur L'Océan gave me the feeling for "maaan, my father wants me to marry off to an old aristocrat somewhere on the other side of Europe. And really don't want to do that."
And I think that because of his Op. 6, No. 6 I kinda get now why some people are obsessed with Tchaikovsky being gay. So much room for interpretations, especially in context with his letters and diary entires.

Arabesque makes me imagine pixies dancing on flowers. On the other end of the spectrum, Tchaikovsky's Hymn of the Cherubim hits me differently that I want to cry.

None But The Lonely Heart by Tchaikovsky is absolutely beautiful!! But it also sounds so sad. Very romantic but sad. Which fits the title. It has such a longing in it like someone’s just lost their love and is mourning that because now they’re all alone. It perfectly captures the loneliness and longing that people have after they have their heart broken by someone

Princess POV
You look down from your bedroom's balcony down at the palace's garden. The tulips are in full bloom and you see the swathes of pink and yellow across the garden, and red roses barely budding speckle alongside the stone path.
You check the time of day on the antique clock in your room and determine you have an hour or so before you must go upstairs to your lessons. You lift the silken fabric of your meringue (yellowish cream) colored dress and rush outside of your room, through the hallway, down the marble staircase and through the side doors of the palace, where only esteemed guests and you, and the rest of your immediate and extended family go through. You bump into a maid, Dia, on your way out and you hastily apologize she looks surprised and smiles shaking her head, though you don't see this because you are already out the door. You have always been told to not apologize or thank the servants and some palace nobles young and old scorned you (privately of course, none would dare insult Her Highness publicly) for doing so but you didn't notice and always stayed grateful.
The fresh late spring breeze welcomes you with all of it's loveliness. The sun shines beautifully above and the sky is a bright blue, indicating that indeed, summer is near. As you walk closer to the nectar filled flowers, your ornate and slightly heeled shoes tapping on the grey stone path, a iridensant hummingbird flits in front of you with its blurry green wings and tiny magenta (deep purplish pink) body, your eyes grow wide in curiosity and wonder and you smile at the little creature. Youholld out your hand ever so slowly but it flitts away as quick as it had come. You smile a bit sadly and as your hand drops to your side and you watch the shining bird fly away into the rest of the garden. Within a few more moments your joy is restored as a breeze carries the airy and sweet scent of honeysuckle and cherryblossomes your way and you bound forward with a spring in your step, skipping along the lovely path of the ethereal garden.
