Thank you, Rupert, for shedding light on such a complex topic. The problem of evil dissolves when we recognize that separation is an illusion. Suffering arises from the finite mind’s forgetting its true nature and seeing others as 'other.' When we act from the paradigm of unity, we see that what we do to others, we do to ourselves. The problem of evil dissolves when we see that separation is an illusion. What we call 'evil' arises from the ego's tendency to judge and divide, but in reality, all things are part of the seamless flow of Being. Even suffering, when viewed without resistance, is an expression of the infinite. This understanding brings a profound sense of peace and clarity. Truly transformative insight!

I love your response. It’s hard to see yourself in the other or respond when someone or a group is being unjust and causing harm to you or others. Many suggest turning away, ignoring … I’m not sure 🤔

@@deviwarrior5072 Turning away from difficult truth is a choice the ego makes in response to fear and dread. For me, it's about replacing judgmental condemnation and projection with clear eyed investigation, discernment and courage. The experience that our underlying nature is not only inherently peaceful, but inherently sane, makes facing disturbing truths possible.

The thought which says “ I have a free will” does not have free will but the real I who illumines that thought is inherently Free “ is it the right understanding Rupert !!

This is indeed a correct understanding, but it’s worth reflecting on the anthropomorphic notion of divine freedom. If we think of freedom as something 'possessed' by the Divine, we risk projecting human attributes onto the infinite. The thought that says, 'I have free will,' is part of the illusion of separation. The real 'I,' which is pure awareness, does not 'have' freedom. It is freedom itself, beyond all concepts of will or choice. Freedom only has meaning if there are choices. I hope this helps!

Thank you! Philosophers say about two types of freedom: "freedom from" and "freedom for". The first case it means being free from slavery and attachment, the latter case freedom is a single fuel for love.

I appreciate Rupert's approach here, but mine would be different. Just realize that, as usual, the ego's perception of the situation is backwards: in truth, free will is bondage and no free will is freedom. The reason you have no free will is not because of mechanical material reductionism, but because there is only God's Will, which guarantees your safety - the you who seems to have free will doesn't even exist. If you the individual had free will, you could turn from God and truth and never turn back, yes? So aren't you glad that your safe return Home is guaranteed?
When people are asked why they want to have free will, they usually say, 'I want to feel free, not trapped'. But dig into what this means a little deeper, and it becomes 'I want to feel like I am in control of my life, that if I make good decisions and treat others well and work hard, I will succeed and be happy and safe'. Well, in this case, when you make bad decisions there will be guilt and when you make good decisions there will be pride. So what loves to be in control, to wallow in guilt and puff up with pride? The Ego, right? That is how the Ego operates at its core. Would you prefer that you were driving the roller coaster, just so you could feel good about yourself if you managed to not crash it, or is it better that the rollercoaster is on a set track and your safety is guaranteed?
That said, the sense of making meaningful decisions is so strong, that you may as well proceed as if you were really choosing in most cases. But be like Morpheus. Understand in the background that it could not be any other way. When you lose the job, rather than freaking out and blaming others or God or yourself, choose to see that it had to be that way, and maybe one day later you will have the perspective to see why, but for now, accept it as best you can.
I was so neurotic about decision making when I believed I had free will. Every little thing was scrutinized. So much guilt and stress. Is this choice pleasing to God? What will happen if I make a mistake? It's a huge burden. Life is lighter without treating every 'decision' as meaningful. The greater freedom is to stop fighting the current, and to trust the river of life to get you where you need to go.

Great points. And we see where in adviaita vedanta this whole question of doership is most explored and that was on the battlefield, in the bhagavad gita.. not a place where fuzzy hippy logic can really apply and i think the author must have considered that haha
. Ajuna is initially moved by compassion to renounce his dharma as a warrior and go live as a monk or something, but Krishna says you are a warrior.. you will eventually have to appear to act like a warrior, its your adikara.. or innate dharma... you're worried about having to kill your opponent.. well (as time) i have already killed them and you will just be an instrument through which that occurs, you are not the doer of the action. He who thinks he kills is ignorant..
So called good and bad actions are going to happen, so if there is identification as a doer it's inevitable that one will be burdened by guilt and pride.. they are 'my' actions...
That said, the bhagavad gita does say that you have right of action.. that while you think you have free will, then go ahead and act according to what you consider wisdom.. but know that you have no right to the fruits. So in effect act as if you have free will, knowing you don't have any.

Living as if I have free will would mean I quit my job immediately. All that stops me is worry of how I’d pay my bills and feed myself. I’m pretty close to doing this though. If the means to exist don’t fall out of the sky well I’m not really too interested in existing anyway.

Oh no not more movie analogies again which also has affected and inflicted the subject.
basically, whats your business model ie separation or unity. Thats what paradigm really means.
Pure consciousness is just a metaphor that the so called teacher is attempting to attach freedom to. More so he is attempting to attach Freedom is our Birthright by saying and using the metaphor " pure consciousness" which is impossible because pure consciousness nor consciousness did NOT give Birth to your biological initial generational being, and thats because consciousness was not there before during and after the inception of your Being's Formed source that manifested from the elements of the universe and transcended.
The point is, what is giving you your PREROGATIVE to make and have that option of unity or separation. What mechanical innate aspect from within is telling your mind. I mean it would have to be a mechanical object within because you your lineage inception was initially Formed which manifested from the elements of the universe and transcended. Those elements that fused and Formed is your object within that implemented consciousness to recall awareness experience to give an experience some thought at a later time for a resolution. Consciousness knows nothing nor controls anything and definitely its not a finite mind because it is just a tool of use.
The so called teacher does not have a clue how your lineage inception initially manifested from the elements of the inverse and transcended to become something completely unaffected by anything the biological physical body and brain is affected by, it would have to be because it is it's own entity and iteration function that is your PREROGATIVE. It looks like the subject is left with no hope and confused again.
