    To lift so much weight at such a young age is insane!

      I had a(n almost) similar situation the other day squatting with my coworker. Warmed up with the bar and my jacked up hammies were already feeling it, he kept warming up with 135, i did a couple reps and then moved the bar from high back to front rack and did a few strict presses and push presses. My buddy whos legs ended up being twice as strong as mine could barely press what i was repping. Felt good lol

      Military press is a different movement tho. This more like a static hold. It's obviously still very difficult and impressive and impossible for most people

      Lifting 202lbs on a clean and jerk is not the same thing as lifting 202lbs on a military press. Clean and jerk uses technique but is greatly assisted by momentum, military press does not have that momentum. That said, it is indeed very impressive, that's more than likely over double her bodyweight.

      Size increases in 3 dimensions, strength roughly correlates to the cross-sectional area of your muscles, a 2D surface. Therefore a change in the amount of mass you have will change your strength at a lower rate.
      That is why insects are so incredibly strong for their size.
      Also why the world record deadlift for a woman is 2.9 times her body weight, yet for men it is 2.5 times. Despite the total weight difference being 180Kg.

    What's your take on lifting before teens? I've been told my whole life that kids shouldn't lift until their teenage years due to joints and height issues. Is that true or is there any science to that?

    • @yasirrakhurrafat1142
      @yasirrakhurrafat1142 Год назад +11

      Not completely true.
      but going way too heavy on lifts may stunt growth.

      He has a study that he usually points to that says the only way to stunt growth is with a growth plate injury, which is very rare and the risk is negligible if you are training with common sense. Also many point out that other sports like football and soccer aren’t without risks either.

    • @shakenbacon-vm4eu
      @shakenbacon-vm4eu Год назад +9

      Look at sprinting. That puts hundreds of pounds of force on your body. It’s a principle activity of the game Tag. Plus a host of other sports and activities of kids. Same with jumping, or the monkey bars, or swimming. Now look at ‘indoor kids’ who don’t participate in tag or other activities but instead only play video games. Are they super tall? No. They grow to their natural height but are super weak and unathletic. Kids who go outside and play and sprint and jump, are they all super short? Absolutely not. They also grow to their normal height but are now endowed with lifelong athleticism.
      Also, yes, most excellent lifters are short. But saying lifting makes you short is like saying playing basketball makes you tall. Certain sports select for certain body types that have a natural advantage.
      Lifting stunting growth is an absolute myth. If it were true, we should treat kids like veal and make sure they don’t move.
